Steve Gets Down With His Bad Self.
WiredMonkey replied to macmarauder's topic in Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod
Very good...great stuff. For a minute there I thought it might be a send up for a new iPod commercial - reasons to buy the iPod or something...lol. That was definitely the best .99 cents I've ever spent. -
Tips And Tricks Forums Are Done!
WiredMonkey replied to Besttechie's topic in Comments & Suggestions
Great idea B - Thank you mucho. -
Amen to that JSKY - I hadn't noticed that new users were signing up just to get the invites until someone pointed it out over there on the boards and it ticked me off. I have some invitations, but I am not handing them out willy-nilly. But, if someone on here wanted one, I would give it up...so, I guess that's my invite too...if you need one PM me...but I'd imagine must of us have one by now.

Is there anything to work with Firefox??? In some ways, Firefox works with Firefox. What I mean by that is - Since a lot of these cookies were designed to only work on IE, you won't even experience them using Firefox. So, just by using the browser itself you're going to have a safer web-surfing experience. As far as further protection go for Firefox, there's some extensions you can get out at Mozilla Update that will allow you to further manage your cookies, but I don't know of a list that will be provided automatically blocking certain sites like IE-SPYAD. But, as I said, that may be beca

w00t! I second macmarauder's vote for a Mac forum if B feels it is warranted...I mentioned in another post - I have 4 years of mac tech experience under my belt and would be happy to help when I can as well.

Putting A Hd From A Mac To A Pc
WiredMonkey replied to Dan's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
*Pats macmarauder on the back* It's okay dude...I'm usually the one that's a day late and a dollar short myself. I can't believe you wouldn't know to look for the mac question under the Windows Support forum. I guess it was asked here because it also has to do with a migration to a PC and it's the only mac question so far, so I don't know that B felt an entire forum devoted to it was called for quite yet...hehehe...though I hope we might have one eventually. I think I already put in a vote for it under the suggestion forum somewhere.... Good to see you about though - I'll know who to -
Thanks B - this does work as a better place. And thanks for mentioning the part about the programs being free Nerelda - I forgot to mention that and it's a very important case. I have used Irfanview for about a year now (ever since I heard it mentioned on Call For Help as a good photo viewer/editor). Like I said, it won't do a lot of in depth things (for that, I keep Photoshop around), but for just a quick re-sizing of photos or to create a slideshow and things like that, it's a terrific program and very easy to get the hang of.
-
What sort of editing are you looking to be able to do? Just the basic cropping and re-sizing of photos? Or are you wanting to do some effects and get into more "PhotoShopppy" type activities? For a good, solid photo editor with great basic features but not a lot of extras bogging it down, I recommend IrfanView. There are some others out there that do more, but that one is streamlined and is a great photo viewer as well.

ahhh okay. Well, in that case you'll want to do as iccaros suggests and get a SCSI card in order to use it. But, otherwise, you should be good! Have fun and let us know how it goes! -
Excellent shtuff Crow...u r0x0rz...

I don't see that it would be a scam on here...but, maybe I'm just naive. I agree with keeping it confined to one area...it's not too bad over on the Tech Support board at G4, but like every other post on the Screen Savers forum is about Gmail now...it's pretty funny/sad.
-
Thanks for the alert Marty - not giving out your account #'s or passwords is always a good idea. I'm sure most of the folks that will be on the board here are savvy enough to know, but it can never hurt to reiterate such an important point! If a bank needs to contact you to get information, they will do it in person when you visit one of the branches, or through their site when you log on - never through email (or the phone, for that matter).

I agree with Nerelda and some of the other posts I've read on here in as far as different forums for all the OS versions would clutter the board up a bit. Perhaps, if B wants to do this, there could be a Windows XP (Pro and Home) forum and a forum for Non-XP Windows Platforms. Also, B, any thoughts on having a Mac section to things? I was a mac technician for 4 years, so I have some experience to bring to the table on that, though I haven't seen a lot of postings about them yet. It's still early on though. Even if we keep just one Forum for all the Windows stuff, I'm fine with that. I'm j

Depends on how far you're going to go back. Most of the drives in Macs made anytime in this millenium are IDE. If you go back into the Powermac days then, yes, you will run into SCSI drives...but anything in the new "color" era of Macs (anything in the plastic pastels they were so fond of or later) should be inter-changeable. -
Freudian slip, eh WhiteWolf4? hehehe....

LOL.....nice bozodog - that was good. Couldn't hurt to keep around here for sure....

"flood Control" Error On Boards
WiredMonkey replied to WiredMonkey's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Yes handplane, that's the one. I know it's a specific feature, but where I hadn't heard of the flood control feature and it was kind of made mention of in that thread but not said whether the flood thing would be on...so I guess it is. It's bueno.... -
"flood Control" Error On Boards
WiredMonkey replied to WiredMonkey's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Thanks Nerelda. I'm fine with it being there - as I said, it's pretty rare that I'm trying to post another message less than 30 seconds after I finish posting another. It does HAPPEN, I don't deny that...heheh...what can I say, I've got nimble fingers... But, it's certainly not a problem to wait. I just remembered he had said something about not having a delay when editing msg's and wasn't sure if it was to carry over into the "new postings" catagory of msg's. So really, my pointing it out was just to make sure he knew. I never use the PM function of this board...I guess I should play -
From the Bungie website, creators of the Halo series: Q: What systems will Halo 2 be available for? A: Halo 2 is being made for the Xbox only at this time. So, if the UK is getting a PC version of the game, I'm sure that it will be all over those P2P places in high demand, cause apparently it's console only. And XBox only at that. Hope that helps...

"flood Control" Error On Boards
WiredMonkey replied to WiredMonkey's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Right, I know why it's there...I just thought that B had it set up so that there was no error like this for multiple posts under a minute...wasn't sure if that were the case or if that was just the case with edits, that was my question to him. Either way is fine - just wanted him to know if he had it set up so that there were NO errors like that supposed to occur, that one was occuring. -
I'm a big fan of the click and explore method to learning what does what on a website. Most things will give you a warning if you're going to do anything that will seriously mess with your account or anything like that anyway. It's a great way to learn stuff. Kamikaze style!!!

B: I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen or not, but when I went to reply to a message this afternoon after replying to one just before that, I got this message: Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. The error returned was: Flood control is enabled on this board, please wait 30 seconds before replying or posting a new topic Is that suppose to happen? I know you said you weren't going to put the limit on editing a post, but does that fall under the same ca

I liked the shows that were more "Call-For-Help-ish". The ones where they took a lot of calls or answered a lot of emails were more helpful to me. I think that's why I like these forums so much is because it's like my own personal CFH or TSS show, but I can customize it how I want and make it go for more than 60 minutes. hehehe.... I like the evaluation segments where they compare different hardware or show solutions to problems you might run into. Mostly the stuff from when Leo & Patrick were hosting, cause that's when I started getting into watching it - about a year ago. I'm not

I don't view it as an advertisement - it's in the right part of the forum (the "Open" area), and it isn't promoting a site per se...I think it's kind of a special case in that you need an invite to go get one, and it's better than going onto eBay and paying $2 or whatever just to get one. Might as well help some fellow Techies out.... But, it's B's board, you're right JSKY...but I can't see him having a problem with it.
