TRY HERE and you might have to sift thru the ZA forums..and be patient..but i've found most of my ZA questions answered at their forum...you might also consider calling ZA's support..you pay for phone support..but the also have e-mail and "chat" support i believe that is free.. wayne

ok..don't usually respond to this type of thread..but what the hay.. 1) ..i use this and the other forum to escape a sometimes too intense reality..don't know enough or type well(fast) enough.. to offer much help..but sure have learned alot.. 2)..can't stand mp3 music..the quality is just crap to my ear..spent years and too many hard earned$ to hear good music reproduction.. 3) ..have the great american novel in me somewhere..but until i can type better..or speech to text software become thought to text..you'll all have to wait.. wayne..

Finally weaned myself off ie and installed firefox a couple of weeks ago..luv it..but i'm having trouble with the spellbound extension..i've installed it and it shows in the extensions "folder" but i can't find it to use it..i know this something simple..but i haven't stumbled upon the answer yet.. thanx for any help.. wayne

Thanx kib_666..that's exactly what i did..as it turns out the cd-r drive i replaced was the master on the secondary channel..all by itself.. so the replacement went smoothly..xp detected the change with no problems..didn't even get the new hardware found wizard..after updating the sony's firmware and Nero6's software i'm good to go.. appreciate your response.. wayne

Just installed a sony dru-710a dvd burner...there is a firmware update i need to install but in the instructions it indicates i should "disable DMA setting in Windows" before i apply the update..i've mucked around help and support but i'm not sure i'm understanding...can anyone help me figure out how i disable the dma settings..?? winxpsp2 home thanx wayne umm..nevermind..updated the firmware with not problems without messing with the "dma settings"...geesh..sony has a weird support page.... wayne

i'm about to replace the cd-r/rw burner in my machine with a sony dru-710a dvd burner..i have not opened the case yet..but the last time i cleaned it out i remember the cd-r was on the same cable as the primary hard drive..i plan on connecting the new burner in place of the old..using the same connections... i know how to set the jumper..but i'm unsure if i should un-install the old drive in device manager before i open up the case and install the new one..?? or if it makes a difference.. i'm running a 2.8ghz 512mb ram xpsp2 home machine.. thanx for any help.. wayne

Hi bear..i'm having a hard time finding any info on this myself..even mcAfee does not have any info when i do a search at their site..even though their activescan detects..identifies..and cleans(deletes) it..might be under everybodies radar right now..i sent a report to both mcAfee and M$..will keep you informed if i find any more info... did you manage to clean it..?? also.. when mcAfee reported it it was reported as "exploit-jpg.crash" not "exploit_jpg.crash" (no underscore) i think i made a typo when i first brought this up.. wayne

Funny(not really) I saw a story awhile back and it said that there was NOT enough body armor for the front line troops. I was suprised that the incharge people would seen troops up front WITH OUT it. Second chance body armor is a good choice.Second chance body armor. no humor here..the lack of proper equipment our troops receive..especially with front line army and marine soldiers is the dirty "little" secret that's being glossed over..the list is long and includes not only body armour..but night vision equipment..humvee armour..and even weapons..sigh.. wayne "War may sometimes be a necess

Allsop makes a scratch repair solution..i got some as a"bonus" with some jewel cases i bought at costco..i've never tried it..as i'm as anal with my disks as i was with my old lp's..but my neighbor borrowed it and said it worked great..not sure where you'd buy it..maybe bestbuy..walmart..?? wayne
