Having Trouble Getting Hijackthis To Run

Okay, I finally got it to complete. I guess I was just getting impatient. Not something someone with my health should do. Thanks TT_75 -
Having Trouble Getting Hijackthis To Run
tman70 replied to tman70's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Even if the task manager says [hijackthis not responding]? -
I just ran spybot scan and it showed I had a couple of winfixer entries. Spybot successfully removed them. I have downloade Hijackthis 1.99.1 to its own folder in my c drive. I opened it up and and did a scan to see if I had anything else. It froze at 012. At the top it says in red "015-Trusted Zone enumeration". I have to do a ctrl-alt-delete to end the program because it is not responding. I have uninstalled and re-installed HJT but it only goes that far and stops. Anybody have an idea what is wrong? Thanks. Forgot to say I'm running W98se.

right clicked and quick launch is checked. I guess if I really want to save a couple of steps I can uninstall everything and do it over again. LOL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If the taskbar isn't locked just drag it to the taskbar. You will see a black line when it is in position to release it on the taskbar. You may have to slide the taskbar further open to see if it's on it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I finally got it to take in the task bar. I just kept dragging it to the taskbar and it finally stayed there. So I guess I am ready now. Thanks again for everything TT_75.

Yes and Yes. How do I check if taskbar is locked?

You have to have OperaAdFilter running for the "copy image address" trick to work. If the shortcut wasn't created on your taskbar or desktop go to Start - Programs - Opera Ad Filter to open the program. It will ask if you want the contents of the clipboard installed. Click Yes. You can create the shotcut from Opera Ad Filter in Programs to your desktop and drag it to the taskbar if it wasn't created to make the process easier. Okay. I downloaded the .zip file and placed it in the Opera profile folder. I then unzipped it and ran the program. Where it asks to be installed I browsed to the profi

Like you I do not have anything in the task bar. I put a shortcut on the desktop but when I drag it to the taskbar it won't stay. I am running W98se.

Thanks TT_75. I was beginning to think I was back 5 yrs ago trying to figure out how to how to turn on the computer. I followed all your steps and did not have any trouble installing OperaAdFilter. After your post about going to the [start-programs-OperaAdFilter] the box came up and now I do not have any ads in my son's web site or in G4. Perhaps you or someone could condense this thread and make a sticky out of it for the others like me who are having problems. I still like FF, but am impressed with Opera 8.02. Will take some time to explore and learn how to operate. Thanks again TheTerroris

[Run the program. You will be asked to point to your opera6.ini file. The program will parse that ini and see if you have a filter.ini setup already. If you don't (which is likely), a default filter.ini will be created for you, and your opera6.ini will be updated to point to it. This only happens once when you first run OperaAdFilter.] I have done the above. I have made the new filter.ini file. I have copied the updates to that file. I have cleared my cache. Is there a button that I have missed that says " PRESS TO RUN PROGRAM "??
-
Yes, have cleaned cache and closed opera and restarted and if I go to G4 I get ads in the right side, but can not block them.
-
Have closed Opera, reopened still nothing. Have even rebooted and still when I right click on an ad and select "copy image address" nothing happens. Have also uninstalled Opera and operaadfilter via uninstall feature, search-find, and regseeker. Re-installed everything clean, still operaadfilter does not work for me.
-
Okay----I did the install according to your instructions and even got the updated ad block list. I then closed it out and went to my sons web site at tripod that is ad supported, right clicked on an ad and clicked "copy image address", but nothing happened. what now?

Like a lot of people yesterday I downloaded Opera and am now trying to learn how to use it. I just got spell checker to work so I am making progress. I posted this problem in open chat, but think I need to post it here. I am having trouble with OperaAdFilter 1.01. I don't know where to download it. Do I put it in Opera? If so, what folder? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Any steps would be appreciated.

I just downloaded Opera last night and have a dumb question about downloading OperaAd Filter 1.01. What folder do I download it to? I can't seem to get Opera to block ads like FF.

My son in west Virginia sent this to me. Change the location and it will fit almost anywhere. Dear Consumers: It has come to our attention that a few copies of the WINDOWS XP West Virginia EDITION may have accidentally been shipped outside of the STATE of West Virginia. If you have one of these, you may need help understanding the commands. The West Virginia EDITION may be recognized by the unique opening screen. It reads: WINDERS XP, with a background picture of Willie Nelson superimposed on a bottle of Jack Daniels. Please also note: The Recycle Bin is labeled "Outhouse" My Compu
