  1. Was 92 here in Kalamazoo Blim. We were on the lake all day. Bet it didn't break 82 on the beach. Nice breeze, water was warm, beers were cold. Hmmm, chunks of cardboard from the fireworks? What goes up, must come down. It's biodegradable...
  2. So very sorry for your loss, Keith. Please remember he is in a better place watching over you.
  3. And the beach bag, shoes, coolers, hair, pockets, food.....................
  4. Sand! I love the beach but hate sand. Sand, sand, and more sand. Everywhere, anywhere, and all over! Yuk!
  5. First we took a long walk in the woods on my 40 acres, (near Bangor) stopped by my friends house around the corner to see about my tractor they babysit. (they just bought a 28'6" sail boat and asked me to teach them to sail, fun.) Then we went to Jacobia, our friends house near Covert on Lk Mich. for fun in the sun. Weeee! You should see a 6'4" Brit hit the water. I've been to White Lake, do they still have that great ice cream parlor? Mmm, ice cream sounds good today, it's turned hot again.
  6. Ooohhh Blim, watta rip-off. Was $2.09 places around here Saturday.
  7. There was just enough breeze at the lake to keep the blood suckers away. But the long walk we took in the woods proved to be a itching experence for the Brit. And he's so much taller than me, the flys buzzed him crazy and left me alone for a change.
  8. Ok, so Sunday at the lake was gr-r-r-reat! I drank too much, ate too much, stayed up way too late, and had a ball. Went for a boat ride, the Brit went tubeing till he crashed at about 40 mph. Swam a bit and watched fireworks all up and down the beach.

Now, that's so very sad... Why do kids think they need to get high? Isn't life a big enough high?
  10. Sorry Mac, I'll try it soon.. We just got a new CharBroil, scrapped the stupid metal flame baffle and added a grate and lava rocks... Gets plenty hot now.. *wonder if kevlar would work against them probes?
  11. Oohhh, Blim. What a christening. Manure huh? Watch that horse manure, it has tons of weed seed in it.. If it's possible, mix it about 50-50 with nice green matter, like grass clippings and let it cook (compost) in a pile no smaller then 4' x 4' turn every two weeks. Even wet it down a bit if it's dry and full of sawdust. I use straw to mulch my veggies, thick enough to keep the weeds back. In the fall I cover it with leaves I rake. Then in the spring I add a few bags of composted cow manure and turn it all under. No chemicals in my veggies, uh uh, nope. BTW, put a birdbath on a corner of the
  12. Bubba, from what I read you can extract it many ways.. the easiest seems to be to pour boiling water over crushed leaves, let cool, add alcohol, and steep for a few days. Strain and put in a spray bottle. Also read just rub the leaves on exposed skin. You can also buy essential oil, but it is very expensive. I'm not so sure if it's gonna work, tried pennyroyal years ago and that didn't do anything. Here's hoping the Brit is sweeter then me... Hmmm, exotic, imported, fodder for the Michigan skeeters.
  13. Ok, I *HATE* mosquitoes!! There! They love me. I can be with 4-5 people on a deck having BBQ and drinks. Guess who gets all the bites? Me! Folks look at me like I'm crazy till I show them the welts. Now, I just Googled repellants and found one I haven't tried yet. Catnip! Seems it's 10 times stronger then DEET. (guess who has some steeping in alcohol right now?)
  14. Tk, God bless you and your family. All will be well. Just mack the best of everyday. Remember: "tomorrow don't count, and yesterdays' gone"

  16. 10 things to remember when encountering UFO's 1. The No. 1 thing to remember is REMAIN CALM! But protect yourself from any hazards real or perceived. Be prepared to take evasive (but not aggressive) action to get out of its way. Remember: You might be witnessing the event of a lifetime and will want to remember every detail. You can't do that if you are hysterical. 2. Be objective. Not every UFO is extraterrestrial. Eliminate every other possibility (within your means) first. Only after that should you consider the possibility that what you saw might be a true UFO. 3. Use a camcorder or came
  17. Dark chocolate seen healthy for arteries "Epidemiological studies suggest that high flavonoid intake confers a benefit on cardiovascular outcome," Dr. Charalambos Vlachopoulos, of Athens Medical School in Greece, and colleagues write in the American Journal of Hypertension. They point out that the elasticity or stiffness of arteries "are important determinants of cardiovascular performance and are predictors of cardiovascular risk." The researchers examined the effects of flavonoid-rich dark chocolate on blood-vessel function in 17 young, healthy volunteers over a 3-hour period after they cons

  20. Robroy, you still have your accent? How nice to know *my* brit won't lose his.. And yep Blim, he's so funny when he's sputtering brit "expletives"
  21. "round-a-bouts" No wonder the Brits lost the war.... They musta all been dizzy. Our WMU campus has been putting them in.... Talk about confusing, the signage they use is incomprehensable. No gardens in the middle either, makes me wanna just drive right through.
  22. Liz, they are saying that front will hit Friday... Mid 70's and 54 for a low.. Then back to mid 80's for the Holiday. Maybe some rain this afternoon.. Hey I want a job like consultants or weather men.... They sure get paid a lot for being wrong most of the time...
