  1. From an article in today's Oregonian, so online article is limited to a couple of weeks. This is quite an incredible leap of scientific discovery to the brain. Article says people and mice have about 90% of genes in common (now there's a disconcerting factoid!!!), so this atlas of mouse brain can be used to draw connections to human brain. Where's the cheese? See mouse brain map Q&A with Paul Allen Allen Brain Map Pat God bless everyone
  2. I tip good service at any type of real restaurant, or cafe, even buffets, with 15 to 20%, usually about 20% due to it's so much easier to figure the math!!! We dont go to fast food chains very often, but no tips when we do as they nearly always have bad service!!! I thought the carhop type fast food place was long long gone, like so many other good things from the "old days" Glad to know some are still around. I bet that the baby boomers, at least the older ones of us, would welcome them back for nostalgic reasons. Never thought about what to do to get message across about bad service until my
  3. Thanks Liz, I may just be in panic mode right now, will calm down later...I hope!!! Am trying to get to a positive frame of mind, just not quite there yet...oooops!!! You gave me a chuckle over your Mom sending your Dad on errands to get stuff one item at a time!!! I think after awhile hubby would kill me if I did that to much. But then there are times when it happens by accident (like the other day when he was to go to bank, store for bread, and P.O. to get stamps...absent mindedness set in and well I'm not quite out of stamps....yet....!!! Maybe he will remember to get them this coming week
  4. I've been kind of sidetracked on other things (see my cafe post) though still having trouble getting the new Google to allow me to use my favorites links. I was nervous about it last night so didn't log out of BT last night and left the view new post page up so could maybe click in on that and that worked out ok today that way to get here. Just tried a favorites link and it was a page cannot be displayed same as many did yesterday, but IE hasn't locked up on me yet today. I can Google the same item in Google search box and it brings up it's many annoying suggestions, and can click on right one
  5. Hi TK, Good to see you my friend!!! Sure glad to hear things are working out for you and your family! Congratulations on the new family and new home and job too. Pat God bless everyone
  6. Hello everyone, Pass the coffee pot over here please, I am to stressed and tired to even go get my own coffee. More bad stuff just keeps on happening to us...but will keep on trusting God to bring us through the tough times. He always does and always will get us through it all, my trouble is I'd rather avoid trials and tribulations and troubles if at all possible...I hate going through stuff...even when I know God will work it out for the best for us...!!! Anyhow the latest is Intel has put hubby in the layoff that is going on right now. Found out yesterday morning. They are giving everyone a
  7. I had this piece of Google toolbar garbage automatically download and change a well laid out working good previous version Google toolbar today. Anyone know how to get the Microsoft search toolbar...I used to have it when we first got the computer but it disappeared. I can't remember why at the moment.Even that has to be better than this one. Or I am open to suggestions...I want a fairly good one, like Google used to be. I occasionally use Clusty but don't want it as main searcher. This is the short list of what I know and hate so far....I am sure it will only be a longer one before I uninsta
  8. Yep that was the one I was referring to in my post, it was my favorite avatar of his too. Pat God bless everyone
  9. I also am hoping against hope that he is still alive but just not posting for a good reason... not a bad one! I miss the hahahaha humor and his great park bench avatar making it seem like life's meaning was just a lazy day of lying on a park bench with a bottle of JD in hand as life's big joke on all of us! I also learned from his tech expertise when I first started out with this computer and with TTV. Thanks to him, and to so many others, I can actually manage to turn this thing on and even enjoy using it...most of the time!!! So with hope that he is ok and someday reads this, I will gi
  10. Glad you folks liked the site. It's like taking a mini-vacation to watch each one!!! Pat God bless everyone
  11. Happy Birthday dear friend Liz, You carry your many many years well with your ever present sense of humor, but methinks 99 is a tad more than the truth of the matter for one so cool as you!!! As for trying to beat Bearskin and I out as the oldsters around here, well that's just carrying things way to far, we have seniority here...I think!!! don't we??? Ha! May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and prosperity. Love you my friend. Pat God bless everyone
  12. That is a neat site Marty, Thanks for sharing it. I Googled jacksonpollack and came up with this review. jacksonpollock site review And that gives us another fun site review of Mr. Picassohead. Mr. Picassohead site review Mr. Picassohead Sure beats the old etchasketch stuff, such as this one. Etchy's etchasketch interactive site Seems there is some controversy over the authorship of this site design thing. jacksonpollocksite design controversy Hubby's home so time to go fix supper. 13. childhood playmates/friends (I grew up an only child on a farm with goats (anyone ever been booted out of a hammock by a playful kid goat underneath it?), dogs, cats, and at times assorted other critters!!!) Pat God bless everyone
  14. Our local Fox morning news show, Good Day Oregon, highlighted this great site this morning. I thought you all might like it too. I checked out Niagra Falls so far. Once fully loaded (uses "Quicktime") just leave mouse cursor on the picture and it revolves completely on it's own. For more photos check out archives, and also various countries listed at bottom of front page. First site I've ever seen that makes me really want a broadband connection. I love it so far, but sooooo slow on dialup. Enjoy!!! VR 360 degree panoramic photos Pat God bless everyone
  15. That's hilarious!!! Though I'm wondering how the guests survived through it all so quietly while the beans 'expressed themselves'? Ha!!! Pat God bless everyone
  16. I'm not a sports fan by any stretch of the imagination. Hubby had even turned to another game when it appeared that Oregon was way behind and not much time left so he didn't see the unusual finish either. But I did read about the game, and thought some of you sports fans might like to read about the personal story behind the wrong call and how it is affecting the poor guy who made the call and what little info to replay booth the call was based on, and the pressure he was under to decide it fast. This reporter, John Canzano, is one of my favorites as he often brings us human interest stories i
  17. Thanks everyone for the welcome back and the condolences over our beloved cat...and oh yeah that other thing too... poor hubby's fall. No misplaced priorities here right? By the way how come a hubby who landed on soft ground compared to my hard landing on hard floor and against kitchen stove hard enough to move it says he hurts worse than I did even though he had Vicodin and muscle relaxants and recuperated in recliner and bed compared to my aspirin and cooking/packing motorhome and going on a trip where he kept pestering me to go for walks etc everyday? Just curious about all that!!! He's
  18. Nice idea to go see the country! Lots of us Rvers never get the travel bug out of our system, so are 'On the road again' and again! Here is a road side food site to have ready whenever you start out. Roadfood Pat God bless everyone
  19. I'm glad you are ok young man!!! But just in case, you ought to be checked out by a Dr especially after a crash doing that much damage! And don't sign any insurance release papers anytime soon until you are sure you wont have any lingering medical problems!!! Many times the insurance companies want you to sign a release within a week or two, which is way to early for many spinal and muscular problems to really show up. I'm sorry about your pretty little car!!! I know how it feels to have a car you love wrecked. Not a good feeling for sure. Take care of yourself for the next few days as you wil
  20. Happy Way Late Birthday Greetings from me too!!! Sorry I'm so late. May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and prosperity. Pat God bless everyone
  21. Happy Way Belated Birthday wishes to you Flatiron!!! Sorry about being so late! May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and prosperity. Pat God bless everyone
  22. We filled up a week ago at $2.75, today the station sign said $2.65. Lots of bad roads here too, and winter will only make them worse!!! Roads are not a high priority around here for either state or local. Most of our gas tax transportation money goes to light rail projects that the metro area 'visionaries' as they like to be called now, seem to think is the only answer for everything (except condemming land and building more 'affordable' condos that only the rich can afford)! Local taxshare is used as seed money to get plenty of federal dollars for useless pork barrel ever expanding light
  23. Happy Belated Birthday! May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and prosperity. Pat God bless everyone
  24. I'm glad you are ok JD!!! It amazes me that there aren't more accidents with so many people who seem to think they can do anything they want anytime they want without consequences to them and others!!! Last week we had to go cross town for a Dr appointment, but nearly got hit by a semi with long trailer coming into our lane very close to us so we moved over quick as he was going way to fast and not thinking straight, like he was mad for nearly missing his exit from I5 southbound freeway to other one. We had slowed down for a couple of other slower semi trucks with heavy loads ahead of us in bo
