Ok although this is fictiuon, it makes you wonder about how things will turn out. Didn't post in "On the Web" because this is more fun than info. Ask Snaxe or others in the IRC room - it made me just say "WOW" (flash video) http://letitblog.com/epic/ols-master.html (not dial-up friendly) M@

  6. Well the darndest thing: I booted up this morning, and what do you know? Its not working anymore. I reinstalled SP2, still not working! Why does M$ tease me so? Trying the whole scrasst.inf thing again... M@
  7. Nerelda, I've said it once and I'll say it again, you are a genius! Now, do I reinstall SP2??? Thanks everyone for your help!!! M@
  8. hey Nerelda, well I found the srchasst.inf file, right clicked and selected install. It started, then said it needed to locate some files. I assumed this is where the CD came into play. I inserted the disc, chose browse: D drive, and found the folder it wanted, then clicked open. Then The progress bar completed, saying it coppied all files, so I assumed it was done. Did I miss or forget something? M@
  9. Hi flatiron__2, sorry, I tried it, with no luck. Did I do something incorrect? I found the file I needed to install, and it asked for me to locate the file in my service pack 2 cd (which I have a service pack 2 CD) but I followed the directions on the site, by inserting my XP cd, (which has SP1). I found the folder it was looking for, and I told it to copy the files from there. It did, and I guess the installation completed. I went to search, yet it still froze when I eneterd a file to find. Then I tried the routein w/ my SP2 CD, but on that I couldn't find the folder it was looking for.
  10. Not sure what you're asking - But, If you're trying to connect to the Juno Service, using you're normal dial up client; I don't think it will work. I think you have to use the client they give you, to connect to your Juno account. That's why when you try to connect to your local ISP using Juno subscriber info, it comes back as not working. Is that helpful, or am I not even answering the question? M@

Taken from: http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,118667,00.asp Google Stumbles With New Desktop Tool Google wants to help you effectively access the piles of information you store in the documents, e-mail messages, Web pages, and contact lists stuffed on your PC. And who better to help you than the most popular search engine on the Net, right? Not so fast. Though it lacks a few features, the beta version of Google Desktop Search does give the same satisfying results for your PC that Google.com provides for the Web. But as it's designed now, GDS also delivers a potential security nightmare

Found this on slashdot: -------------------- Jeopardy! Whiz Becomes Encarta Spokesman By Nate Mook, BetaNews December 6, 2004, 11:00 AM Microsoft has tapped Jeopardy! king Ken Jennings, who recently finished his 75-game run on the show, to become the spokesman for its Encarta product line. Jennings will embark on a nationwide media tour called "Quiz the Whiz" that challenges news desks to stump the human encyclopedia with questions from Microsoft's Encarta Reference Library Premium 2005. Jennings broke the game show record books this year and attracted a cult following by answering 2,700 Jeopa

  16. Hey team Ok, about 3 weeks ago, I finally ventured into installin SP2. Well ever since, the "search" utility is crap. Whenever I try to find a file, it freezes. Never finds anything. Is there a way I can repair it? I have the Google desktop search, but that doesn't search for every type of file (in fact, its very limited). Thanks M@
  17. Taken from: http://news.com.com/Wipeout+for+PS2+memori..._3-5473374.html PlayStation 2 owners are seething after discovering that a demo disc distributed by Sony could accidentally erase the memory cards attached to their consoles, wiping out many hours of progress in games such as "Grand Theft Auto." Sony acknowledged the problem last week in a postcard sent to members of its PlayStation Underground fan club, warning members to be careful with holiday demo discs sent out last month. Don't play the trial version of the Capcom adventure game "Viewtiful Joe 2" included on the disc, Sony warned,

Yeah; one entire round was a spoof from the TV shoe "Seinfeild" (spelling?) and, he said some time earlier that he watched little to no TV. Yeah, and the answer was H&R Block. M@
