  1. This is a very new virus, which is still under investigation and research. However, no real "fix" has been found, and a format is just about the only option at the moment. From Sophos: W32/Sunk-A is a worm for the Windows platform. The worm will display the following fake error message: "An unexpected error has occurred on the execution of this file" W32/Sunk-A will attempt to replace every file on the infected computer that has the extension EXE with a copy of itself. The worm will also copy itself to folders known to be used by popular Peer-To-Peer programs using various names. W32/Sunk-A w
  2. Hey everyone! Just wanted to point out that it looks like there is now 1 alternate theme available. If you go to the very bottom of the forums, on the left there will be a drop-down menu. The new one is called Techno EN (import), I noticed it a few days ago. I'm still going to stick with the default theme, as I like it better, and I think it fits the site better. But, if anyone wants a change in scenery, you can take a gander. Matt

  4. Hi dementedsnake! Welcome to Besttechie! I will be assisting you in cleaning up your computer! Please print out these directions for use if/when you cannot access this page. You are currently using HijackThis from your desktop, this can cause problems. HijackThis creates backups, these are needed in case of any recovery issues. Please create a directory on your C:\ drive called C:\HJT, download and unzip HijackThis into that directory. Run the program from that directory from now on. Scan with HJT, and place a check next to the following items: R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

  13. Congrats! Your log is clean! The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again. Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections. AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other ver

  15. I'm gunna have to say No. I used to be a McAfee user, and I will never be again. McAfee VS is rather demanding on system resources, and won't get you any better virus detection than AVG or Avast. I finally left McAfee when after every boot, I would get an error that everything was disfunctional with the suite. At first I thought I was infected with some malware, but eventually rules that out. I contact McAfee, and they said it was an error message that people are getting, but they didn't know how to fix it. They asked for an eroor log (which I sent). After 2 weeks, no reply, I dumped it
