I agere lack of RAM is not the issue. I have had RAM that for what ever reason will crap out when it gets hot....So I think it could be a heat issue.

Just check the Cable Select. you need the HardDrive to tell the BIOS that it salve drive in "CABLE SELECT"

Also make sure it is showing up in the BIOS. if not then I bet you have a cable problem.....

It's against the law to serve alcohol here in Central NY before noon on Sunday. Do you know anyone aorund here that would mind me doing my usual law breaking and start serving? I just won't turn on the beer signs to attract the flat foot's eyes. Bloody Marys are ready. Looks like it is going to be a decent day in Michigan so NASCAR should be racing. Go Biffle!

DarkestDream, thank you for the explanation! I think I will just tell people who don't look at me when they're talking that "I don't hear so well", so the Deaf Community will not be offended! It's usually strangers who turn their heads when they speak to me and you never know if they're related or friends with a Deaf person....although, if they were, they would look folks in the face automatically when they're speaking, wouldn't they?!?!! Still, the Deaf Culture has the most beautiful, expressive, easy to understand (except spelling!) language in the entire world and I sure wouldn't want to offend the culture! I make a point of not wanting to offend anyone!

OK, a connection topic to the leaf bag "tax increase"!! The neighboring town wanted to buy a brand new 100 foot ladder Firetruck and a new garage to put it in, because the old garage would be too small. NOW, the town's building ordinance limits building height to 35 feet and there are nearby communities who have large trucks that will respond to fires if needed (they're in some kind of alliance, Chappy would know the proper word!)
Got soundly voted down.
Two weeks later (two weeks!!) the Fire Department leased a brand new 100 ft. Firetruck and is building a garage to put it in, the garage was funded from a Federal Grant of some sort.
Uh, didn't the voters turn it down??????? Why did they even go to the voters if they were applying for grants for the building anyways??? And somehow, because the Firetruck was leased instead of purchased, the Fire Dept was able to get it without voters approval.
(*I know Chappy is a firefighter, and no offense, but this is a tiny town (volunteer firemen) that is trying to be "suburban" and because of the building ordinances and the alliance with the neighboring towns that have these big trucks, it really wasn't necessary in todays economy!*)
And to you new voters!! Don't let this story keep you from voting! Make sure you vote anyways, whether it counts or not. That's the only way we're going to get the concepts our Founding Fathers founded back into this country!

Exacly what they do here. They just backdoor stuff so putting things to a vote is just a waste of time because the city counsel does whatever they want. This is just a minor example of what they do here, they dig up the flower bulbs from the parks every year and plant new ones. Now they tell us it is illeagle for them to "give" away public property so they throw all these perfectly good bulbs away. Now I am the public so why the hell can't I take the bulbs hoem and plant the in my yard? After allI was one of the people who paid for them in the first place eh?...

After reading a post here it reminded me of a searing PM I got on another board saying that the use of "master" and "slave" drives was not acceptable. They informed me that IDE 0 and IDE1 and etc was the proper way to describe such issues. I guess my point is are we so frickin' sensitive anymore that I cannot even say anything without pissing somebody off? Not a big deal but it seems to me I have lost the ability to communicate because my use of the language seems to piss someone off......Hahahahahaha....

That's really odd you mention that because that is the very computer I am on right now. my turn to ask a question...I have some old home videos on vcr and I need to put them on cd. my vcr has a video output on the back and I guess I would need some kind of adapter. can I capture this thru my video and sound card? can I put this on cd-rom or do I have to use dvd? I don't have a dvd player cause I'm too cheap to buy one. actually I'm on a fixed income. maybe it would be easier if I got a player that records vcr to dvd but they cost like $150. any ideas on this mess? thanks for any suggestions.

I wish you were closer my friend. I have one of those Dazzle 150 boxes that you can hook up the VCR and it converts the analog to digital on the fly. Works really well. Of course it cost money for the box. I am not even sure they make them anymore....

Jeesh 4K eh? Well I would certainly look at a X2 AMD processor setup for sure. Man with that kind of jack the sky is the limit. I can't even imagine what I would buy if I had that loot to spend.....hahahahahahha.....Maybe 3K for the machine and 1K for JD........

You can tell who's an expert in what field by the color code in their username in the Online list, look at the bottom of the Forum Home page in the Board Stats for the Online list and color key.
