Lets Please Stop This

I have written an open apology to G4 Admins Mods and members in general that I have asked Mike (mlegg510) to post for me at G4, and a copy of which I post here for all of you.

While I will always stand behind my decision for the original post that started all of this mess, I am sorry for the hurt it has caused so many people, that was never my intent. All I want right now is for all the fighting to come to an end.

To that end, I wrote this letter:

A letter of Explanation and Apology

To whom it may concern:

I'm asking that this be posted in the G4 forums for me, in the hopes that it may help heal the rift, and stop the fighting between members that I unintentionally started this past week. I have seen members turn on each other, and against the Admins and Mods of G4, and that was never my intentions for the actions I took.

I'm sincerily hoping, that this explanation and apology will help to stop the continuing dispute, and allow us all to get back to whatever direction we have decided to take.

The only reason that I posted about the "supposed" closure of the Tech Support forums, was to avoid the possible scattering of members, similar to what we had experienced when TechTV merged with G4TV. At that time, we had lost track of many good friends that were not aware of the merge at the time, and simply didn't know where everyone went to when they did try to go back to TTV boards.

Many of us had lost track of friends that we had come to know over the years at the TTV boards, and we truly missed them. I did not want to have the old TTV members go through this again, at least not without some time to contact others and make arrangements for the future.

That was the SOLE purpose of my post about the "possible" Tech board closure!

I had no intentions of, nor did I at that time, disclose any part of the memo that was posted in the private Mod forum, and when I did post it to show I was not lying, I only posted a small section of it that outlined the new board look. The members had the chance to read it as it was written, and draw their own conclusions about its intent.

I also know that this was going against what a Moderator should do, but I did it only for the benefit of the members at large. I know that I was possibly making a large mistake, but I stand by my intentions of only doing what I thought was best for the Tech Support board members, and old TTV friends.

I'm not going to make this a long post that looks as if I'm trying to save face, or to say that one side is right and one is wrong....right now, its ALL wrong.

There should be no "Sides" in this, and the way that this has turned out has truly saddened me.

I wish to Apologize to all concerned for this, the G4 Administrators, G4 Moderators, and the G4 membership in general, including those who have decided to move on to other boards.

I had no ill intent with my original post, and the outcome of this has turned many folks against each other. I apologize to all of you for this, PLEASE...you should not be fighting as you are.

I truly hope that you can put an end to all of this, and just move on with how the final outcome has developed. Make peace with other members, and yourselves, and allow the Moderators to get on with what they need to do. Whether or not the board was intended to be renamed as they say now, or closed as it read at the time, makes no difference anymore. The outcome is as it is, and we all must move forward...continuing this "Debate" has no merit except to extend the damage already done.

I had no idea that this was going to be as damaging as it turned out to be to ALL of us, and for that again, I am TRULY sorry. Please put aside your differences of opinion for now, and let things fade into history.

I should probably know that this will never be enough to satisfy many folks, but its all I can do right now.

I also apologize to my beloved members of Besttechie, for having all this spill over into our world. I'm definately NOT SORRY for my intentions, nor for the excellent new members we have now! I couldn't be happier to have all of these wonderful folks calling this their "Home" now, I am tho, saddened at how it had to come about.

Wow Chappy, very wisely put. I'm sure if an authoritative figure at G4 doesn't post that for you, you can find a forum member to do it instead. A good luck wish to all hoping to resolve conflicts from this situation.

You can add me to the list that support you Chappy. I have known you for many years, And know you were only doing what you thought was right. Many of the members at G4 made up their own minds over what they wanted to do. And are making up their own minds even now on what they say, or do right now.

Tho I rarely go to G4 except to the Tech Board.

i was just about to post the exact same sentiment when i saw this...

and chappy in my opinion if you and pete had not tried to warn us of the plan to "kill" the tech support forum..it would have simply disappeared along with the others that simply vanished..

You're my hero, too, Chappy and I sure appreciate the sacrifices you made taking the noble road. Can you imagine "us old ladies" going there after the change without a warning?? We all know there would be a lot more backlash if nothing was said beforehand--and I still believe that if you hadn't said anything, there would be no tech board, that you saved it. What you did was definitely for the greater good of G4, the members and the moderators.

Think of it this way, speaking out and doing the right thing often does bring consequences, but it's so much more admirable than keeping quiet. If the world had more freedom fighters like you, we'd have a much more stable world in the long run.

Even on the net, you have the heart of a firefighter. Thank you.

Without the support of my friends, and those that understood my true intentions, I think I would have turned off this computer, wiped it clean, and sold it for beer money by now...

I'm sure that any one of you, were you in my position at that time, would have done the same thing for the members. You all are "Stand-Up" kinda people, who just want to do the "right" thing when its needed.

It just so happens that it was me who was thrust into this position, and forced to act for the greater good, even tho I knew I was cutting my own throat at G4.

I just want this all to end now tho, and allow everyone to move on with their lives. I may need some time to recover from this myself, but I can't think of anywhere better to recover than right here, at my Home!

As someone who stayed on with the CFH board, I can tell all of you who didn't stay that you aren't missing a thing. Foul language,posts by idiots who came from God knows where....its just not a friendly board anymore and certainly not suitable for anyone under 16. So I'm here,and at leoville as well.

Some of those idiots are from Leoville. The strange ones no one recognizes that use the foul language are those displaced from the boards that were shut done or merged. I recognize many of them from my travels throughout the G$ forums and Leoville. I have been visiting and reading the posts there. My fingers are itching to be able to reply to them.

Chappy, your apology has yet to make an appearance. Maybe the admins are refusing?

It takes a big man to have the courage to do what is right for the ones he cares about (the TTV and Tech Support people ), even while knowing the consequences of those actions will end up hurting himself. I see you doing that on both ends of this G$ mess. You cared enough to warn all of us of what they planned to do, and stuck by the truth of that info, then you did the right thing now to try to bring peace and closure back into the situation for the good of all.

Since the G$ ptb will never have the grace and coutesy to thank you and Pete for all your mod work and computer help on G$ all this time, I'd like to express my Thank You to you both for all you both have done to make the Tech Support board a good one!!! Without you guys modding it, and the good members helping so many people, it would have been totally unbearable over there for all of us old TTVers. Good job, well done, Thank You!!!

My feeling is that you were the one who was owed the apology. In the two yrs that I have been on the boards I don't think I have ever seen more even handed mods than you and Pete C. IMO they owe you the apology for giving misleading information at the least or outright lying at the worst. You did the right thing in notifying friends and other members. I do remember the confusion of the ttv to g4 days even though I was basically a lurker at that time.
