TheTerrorist_75
I had a liver transplant March of last year.Hi all,I'm an artist semi-retired (as if an artist can ever retire ) not by choice forced by illness, kidney failure and liver failure. Thank you so much Terrorist 75 for sharing your story! I can differently feel your pain. My partner's liver is much worse than mine and needs a liver now.. On the other hand I need a kidney. I'm starting to think that we are being pieced out part by part. You have no idea how your post effected me. Thank you so much!!!I've been married for 29 years and have four children, two grandchildren. I'm also a "TTV" displaced person looking for familiar faces You're welcome. The wait seemed unbearable but I decided to just keep doing my normal routine and not dwell on it. thesidekickcat
I sure would like to see chinawht post today, or any day, so we would know she is back with us. A post from her would really make my Thanksgiving complete. We miss you, my friend. As for me, not that much to say. I am 60 years old, married to my dear hubby for 34 years. He works for Intel. I am a homemaker.I, too, have gone through some hard times in my life. The Lord healed me of fibromyalgia in 1997 at a Benny Hinn crusade in Seattle. Had it for 23 years. Plus I (hubby too to lesser extent) suffer from an old car accident injury to back and neck. We are waiting on God to be healed of that and other things like my eyes and his hearing etc. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour when I was 40, my hubby did that at 42. That was the best decision we ever made!!! We love the Lord with all our hearts.I have had many hobbies over the years. I collected post cards for years, have about 100,000. (It got to difficult to hold and sort them with the fibromayalgia, and I never got back into it after I was healed.) Maybe I will sell them someday.I collected Siamese cat figurines, but packed them away to protect them from the live Siamese cats we have had over the years. The current cat is the reason for my screen name. She is "the sidekickcat", always nearby, or on my lap, when I am on the computer. In fact she even nags me to get in here at what she feels is the usual time, if I am doing something else.We bought an old fixer upper house in the early 70's, and it still needs work. We did alot of work on it ourselves learning as we went. And hired some out, but ended up fixing their mistakes too. Found out that remodeling is hard on a marriage. So bought a motorhome to get away from troubles. Only it ended up being a lemon. Both the coach and the Ford part. So it spent alot of time in garages, plus hubby did alot of fixing stuff himself after the manufacturer went bankrupt. So it still gets a mix of hubby fixes and garages, (the garages usually are when we go on vacation---- ugh!) We think it is fixed finally after the last repair. So anyhow, it did give us something besides the house to worry about, spend money on, and fight about. Ha. Then in 1997 The Lord healed our marriage and life has been alot better for us ever since then, even with life's troubles.Used to garden extensively, this year only tomatoes, and zucchini and acorn squash. Just can't do as much anymore, does that mean I am getting old? My hobby for nearly 3 years now, has been this computer, which was from Intel. They gave all their employees computers. I had never planned on having one, but figured the Lord had blessed us with it, so might as well learn how to use it. Including relearning how to type. Started watching Call For Help, learned alot from Leo, then when we got Internet service (dialup) I signed up at TechTV boards. It felt like family. Pete tried hard to make us a home at G4 Tech Support, but it is still not the same. But that family feeling is beginning anew on this board. Thanks Beluga. When I saw a new thread today about signatures and screen names, I thought about this thread, searched for it, and then saw I hadn't given my thumbnail sketch. Also figured that new members might want to be a part of both threads.Sorry about being so gabby folks. Oh well. I figure everyone knows I am gabby by now! Ha. God bless everyone. tictoc5150
Since I was a little late coming to B's board, I missed this thread and wanna thank thesidekickcat for bringing it back out of obscurity...I don't think I've seen as much openess in any forum as I've read in this thread...it took the "getting to know you" to a whole new level....sounds like a few of the folks here have had some serious adversity in their lives and I'd like to wish them and all members of B's forum the best for good health and happiness for this holiday season. So, I figure since I know quite a bit more about you fine people, I should bring you into my strange little world a little more The name is Tom, I'm 35 (well, 36 in about 6 hours )....my first and lasting love has always been music, I've played guitar for about 24 years and still play about an hour a day when I can.I haven't been tech minded for long, I had a GF about 3 or 4 years ago that talked me into buying a PC for her....I was kind of against it but decide to get it to shut her up...lol....well, since I was using it more than she was, it didn't really shut her up...So, I bought another BETTER PC for myself a couple months later...hehe....Then outta the blue I suffered a spontaneous pneumothorax (popped a lung)...that put me on the bench for about 2 months...plenty of time to veg and become one with my new best friend...lol...after recovering from that, all my interests seem to revolve around my PC and all previous interests were incorporated into it....Music and Photography/Photoshop mostly.I work 3rd shift and keep hours that most people find hard to deal with so thankfully I have an interest that doesn't pi$$ off the neighbors at 3AM...and there always seems to be something to read/do, people to talk to/meet online...which brings me to the latest in my life...I met a lady online a while back and we're expecting a baby in july...so for the first time in a long time, I think I can actually say I have something to be thankful for at Thanksgiving...Can't wait to see my little one!!!Peace to all,Tom
acker1
OK, here goes.I'm 63, Vietnam Vet (Recon, 2/7, 1st Cav, '65). Married 30 years (To this one) One daughter--40 yrs old--bet she loves me telling that. Different jobs over the years--Post Office, McDonald's mgr, contractor, supervisor in a printing plant. Now retired, sold house and live fulltime in a motorhome traveling wherever we feel like. Using a satellite connection for keeping up with the net on the road. Use the puter constantly. I have to or I forget what I know about it. Really! In '92 I completely lost it. Started having flashbacks to Nam, got severly depressed and everything negative that comes with it. Got help thru VA, went to counseling (8 years), take my meds and I can get by. BUT--one result is shorttime memory loss & concentration problems. That's why we sold out and hit the road. Keeps me active and not locked up in our old house. Makes me get out among people. I'm OK with people but would rather stay cooped up. Even sold my '59 Corvette that I owned for 30 years. That's when our friends knew we were serious about the motorhome thing. I miss that car but the memory & concentration thing prevented me from enjoying working on it. That was my relaxing time. Could dig right into it & forget everything else. I visit RVing & tech help forums. Was disappointed with G4 after experiencing TECH TV. Glad to have found this forum. I lurk a lot, don't post much cause I don't know much, BUT---you folks have been there for me when I have had a problem. And don't make fun of me when I ask dumb questions. And I have lots of them. Pained me to hear of the trials and problems some of you have.Godspeed you through these times.Thank you for bringing this thread to the first page. i always forget my netetiquette. As my past posts would concur...i just kind of started posting! i forget myself when i start reading. i'm the over eager poster! i don't get to post alot and when i finally do post, i look like i'm fi'm trying to make up for lost time, terrible spelling, typos, bad grammar...The whole shabang!. i do like to help people but i'm not very advanced in computer tech. One of my main interests is internet security. And...i guess my interests are a bit self-serving at this time! It makes me feel better if i can help people stay safe! Safety and computers seem to be the common denominator here. i'm east of midwest ! My avatar is also my only tatoo.i picked the name echo years ago because i just like the sound...No pun intended. At this time i'm doing QC for an electronics company.Family comes first so my job descriptions changes often!i'm active with our Public Schools the City Mission and Save Our System.i'm a tree hugger...One of my kids was born on Earth Day...i'm a hippy at heart!Well that's me...Sorry this did sort of ramble on... :
hitest
Hi Folks,I'm 47, married, with two kids, a ten year old daughter, and our baby who will be two in January. Like many here I've very happily migrated from other forums to make this website my main digital home. I am still astounded that people are so friendly and happy here. The mods do an outstanding job keeping the atmosphere here relaxed and open My wife, 45, is a legal secretary and works very hard for a busy law firm. Right now she's struggling with neck pain.......too many hours sitting in front of a computer. She had to take a day off on Friday, too much pain. She's hoping she can work tomorrow, we'll see. My ten year old is in grade 5 and doing quite well in school. I recently helped her to post her first website, a help site about pokemon. Now she's regarded as l33t by her classmates:-)I've worked in the public school system for over 21 years and enjoy working with children. This year I'm teaching a grade 4/5 class and am very fortunate to have a fantastic class filled with happy kids. I'm interested in computers and help with unpaid tech support at my school also. I do the tech support in my spare time after school and in the evenings on a volunteer basis, I enjoy helping others. I'm interested in Linux and have been a user for a little over two years now................heh-heh......yes to me it does seem like a drug. I classify myself as a mid level Linux user who is still trying to learn this stuff. I'm happy we have Linux experts like jcl, uberpenguin, and iccaros here( I leave the heavy lifting to the pros). I have no formal computer training; I just enjoy technology. Some people say I have a strange sense of humor, I love to laugh and fool around. Life is so short and filled with uncertainty that I try to find the levity in daily events, I'm not always successful.Whoa I didn't mean to ramble on so much. It is a pleasure to be here with all of you. Take it easy.hitest
Shadow_Thomas
Not sure how this thread got bye me, but it did. Anyhow I am 41 years old. My name is Tom. My nickname is Shadow Thomas or as most people call me Shadow. As you can see by my picture in my signature I am a radio station DJ. and thats a long story. So if you like to read a long story, pull up a chair and a hot or cold beverage because I have the gift of gab Lol. I tend to be long winded. I guess it gos with my line of work. Yes I am the person you hear when you get behind the wheel of your car and turn on that radio or at home, in the office or ware ever. I love public service. I love people and I love helping people no matter what it is at no "CHARGE" You see I am one of them few people in the world that hates when another person helps another person out and is looking for a hand out. Meaning a handful of money. It's a shame so many people will not give a person the time of day unless you have money and lots of it. I have also been a volunteer fireman in my area since June of 1980 to present. Now as of next June 2005 I will have 25 years of active service with the fire Dept. and will be considered an old timer by the village standards. Man do I feel old now Lol. But seriously I joined the fire Dept. when I was 16 and considered a junior firefighter, I was not allowed in a burning structure until I was 18 years old. But it was Ok because there was lots to be learned and I am still learning. No two fires or situations are ever the same. I never became any type of line officer in my 24 years in the Dept. I take orders from the young ones and I have no problems with that. Oh the stories I can tell about being a fireman. I am no longer able to go into a burning structure because of health problems. I use to live about 10 houses down from the firehouse. I took it so hard when I found I could no longer fight fires, I had to move away from the village I lived in because every time the alarm sounded I wanted to be there to help out my fellow brother fireman. Many war stories to talk about, but there not important.Back in 1983 I had a work related accident that messed up my lower back for life. Well I did not know it at the time that my back accident was much worse then I could have ever imagined. I was just a young lad at the time. I worked more jobs then I care to remember back then. My back injury finally caught up with me in 1990 when I was told I should consider for permenant disability. I was told my back could not be operated on. To many things to go into on that issue, but if they were to operate it would have to be a spinal fusion. Thats when I decided to go to school for a radio broadcaster. I graduated from that school back in September of 92 and landed my first job right out of school in October of 92. Today my DR.'s say my job is making my back condidition worse if you can believe that. I may be forced to go out on full disability because the pain is so bad it has been messing up my on air performance. The GM. likes me but has voiced his concerns. I know if I should take a leave of absence they would have to have someone take my air shift and that would probably be the end of my job at this station, which I love. Not to many radio stations in my area and I am not going to relocate. So time will tell. I love computers. I got roped into this computer stuff because my wife 3 years ago just had to have one. And then she hardly if ever uses it. So when ever there was a problem with it, guess who got called to fix it ? Yup, me. But at the time I came across Call for help and the screen savers just by channel surfing. Man talk about a lucky day Huh ? that is when I started to learn a little about computers, then I found the message boards a couple months later. Talk about a God send. I remember 3 years ago I was scared to death of a computer, Thanks to CFH. & TSS. plus the boards, now I have 2 computers on a small home network. I have learned a great deal from CFH. & TSS. plus these great boards and the great people on them. So many names to mention I wont because I would miss some names. I start pain management Dec. 13 for my back, so it's my last ditch effort. If it does not work then i will have to go out on total disability. I remember back when i was in high school I had the chance to go into the Navy, I was on a 365 day delayment program providing I graduate high school. Well at the time I use to hang out with a rough crowed in & out of school and liked to raise hell and party. As a result I quit school to get out of going into service. Man what a jerk I was. I threw my life away for some crazy times and good times as I thought it was. Looking back on my past I have made some serious mistakes, but did ok for myself. I have been married for almost 18 years. I have no children. My wife & I bought a new home back in 99. My wife Andrea is a great gal. I don't know how she managed all these years with me but she has. She works in the insurance field. The only pets we own are each other Lol I could keep going on & on but I think I will end it right hear as my back is starting to act up as I type this. Told ya I was long winded. And to think I could keep going on.
