  1. It is similar to WinAudit which I have on both a floppy disk and thumb drive to check out customer's PCs. I also use SIW.
  2. Here is a guide to troubleshooting System Restore. Troubleshoot System Restore “Restore Point Failures” in Windows XP
  3. With just a quick glance at your log I see a couple of questionable files. I will move this to the proper section of the forums.
  4. I have visited the many sites that have the same phone number as diskemergency.com. This business seems to go by multiple names such as 1 Hideout Computer Services. What disturbs me is the lack of reviews. Also your post is identical to the one at the following link. Do you also go by the user name henrywillson. This smells of spam to me. BTW, "pedro" do you know the OP "harry". The two of you seem to use IPs belonging to the same block of addresses out of India. http://www.openfree.org/forums/showthread.php?p=139552
  5. I had no problems with it on a Compaq that has an AMD processor. I didn't use a HP/Compaq XP CD to install XP Home SP2 though before I updated the PC to SP3. I made sure that IE6 was the browser used before installing SP3 that way the option remained to unistall IE7 if the customer wished. As for my PC I will wait until I am ready to perform a fresh install of XP. I have already created a slipstreamed CD.
  6. I foolishly didn't look at the 30 pack of CDRs I bought. They were 700MB and I needed an 800MB for creating the UBCD4Win. I ended up buying a 10 pack of them.
  7. Are the files worth it? If so Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery just may do the trick. How to recover data from formatted Hard Drive? http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm
  8. Thanks TT_75 but what site were you referring to? Thanks Falcon1986. I had just found that site and will try it out later and report back if I can get it to work. Remember I'm old and slow, so don't expect me to hurry. Oh--My son has just informed me that he has a virus or something as the Startup Monitor wants to know if he wants to add something to the startup. But when he says NO it just pops up again. So I know what I will be doing tomorrow while he is at work. I think he does this just to give me something to do. LOL Thanks again. The one Falcon referred to. Darn I forgot to paste the li
  9. The only way that I know of is by downloading the setup at the following site. I haven't tried this and would want input from others. It seems like it would be OK.
  10. Try following these steps. This, http://www.ubcd4win.com/burn.htm, is for burning the UBCD ISO. It's the same for what you want. I just finished burning two XP Home SP3 CDs a couple of minutes ago with NTI. You need to make sure you are creating a bootable CD. I used AutoStreamer to slipstream XP SP2 to SP3. Make sure you go to Folder Options and show all hidden files and folders plus protected files/folders before you copy your XP CD to the hard drive. http://www.ubcd4win.com/slipstream.htm
  11. Was this a fresh install of XP using the full version or did you upgrade Win9x/ME/2K to XP? If you performed an upgrade install were any Norton programs installed on the old OS such as Norton Clean Sweep? More information about your setup would help to diagnose the problem. 12. Try to ping and tracert to the problem sites and see if there are issues. If the connections cannot be established you will have to contact Charter and ask what's up.
  13. That is as I read it. Thanks for the confirmation.
  14. From what I have seen posted if you are using IE6 when you download SP3 the option should remain to remove IE7 and be able to revert back to 6. I have yet to confirm this.
  15. I would ignore SP3 for now and just keep downloading the critical updates. Maybe later you could slipstream SP3 with your XP CD and try a fresh install on the Compaq after backing up all the important stuff. I am waiting for any bug reports before I do a slipstream and fresh install.
  16. I agree that your morality should never had been questioned. I also do not like Rickrollling and have removed the offensive links. I will locked this as you requested.
  17. Already spent. It didn't even cover my truck payment. Heck it wouldn't cover two weeks worth of gas. I wish the government would switch to a flat tax of say 10% of gross. On top of that make the Social Security tax rate a flat 5% of gross with no cut off point. That should give them enough to run the country and make SS solvent. I would even go for a flat tax rate of 5% for state tax and let the states run themselves on that.
  18. Toshiba's site doesn't list an A205 S5815 they show only a A215 S5815. http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/afin.to Toshiba Primary 6-Cell Li-Ion Battery Pack Compatible with Toshiba Satellite A200, A205, A210, A215, A300, A305, A305D, L305, M200 and M205; Satellite Pro A200 and A210, L300, L300D series portable computers
  19. In the 70s I partied with many of the local cops. If they stopped me I would just get told "You know better, now knock it off and behave". In the 80s I traveled out of state for work and really didn't get noticed by many of the local PDs except for Florida where again I partied with many of the local cops. In the 90s when I moved back home there was a whole new generation of the local cops. Many of the "old timers" had gone to school with me. I broke them in hard. They learned to steer clear of me and their chief would tell them not to get me riled. Now it's another new generation and the "old
  20. Are those the only two programs that the PC shuts down while they are running? When you say shuts down does the PC completely shut off or just freeze?
