Hi man, Yep, you can re-install that'll fix your issue, but then you'll lose all your stuff. If you do re-install just remember to jot down the root password. I haven't had a chance to google your issue yet. I know there's a way to some how change your pass word. I'll go look now.

Hi Tymekyller, When you installed mandrake you would have been asked to create a root password. The root password is what will allow you to change your clock time and do a lot of other admin tasks. Did you write down this password? If you find the password you're in luck, that'll allow you to change your clock time. If you didn't write it down you're kind of hooped. I'll try and do a google search on how to change the root password for Mandrake. jcl, uberpenguin do you guys know a command line log-on trick to do this? I've read about it, just can't remember the command. thanks, hitest

Hey tictoc5150, To answer your question Xorg is the replacement for xfree86 as the newer distros aren't using xfree any more. Well it took a few hours, got Mandrake 10.1 fully installed, up and running. The install proceeded normally, no surprises. Downloaded, installed Fire Fox 1.0, Thunderbird .8 ( I don't use kmail that often). Got sound up and running on the command line using the old sndconfig program. I had a weird moment when I lost my LAN connection through my router, but, opened up Mandrake control panel and started up my connection again (forgot to type in my domain name). I haven

jcl, I know you're a Unix Lord from way back, I've got a line on a really old pc, it's got 64 MB RAM. Before when I tried to network BSD 5.2 through my router on another pc I couldn't get it to work for some reason. You offered me valuable assistance on my attempt. I have an old switch kicking around and I can rig it up so I can access one of my spare static IP addresses, and not use my router. I'm using KDE 3.2 right now on my Mandrake 10.0 work station. I've also got Enlightenment and IceWM installed too. I like IceWM and Enlightenment for speed; they're a lot faster than KDE. My unit is snappier with minimalistic WMs. When I was running Red Hat 9 on this unit I also used Gnome and Black Box. Gnome and Black Box caused weird video monitor effects though. Strangely enough my favorite is still KDE. What do you like? hitest
