  2. I said I would try it. I now give Comodo Personal Firewall my 100% approval. I have tested for a month or so now and found it as good if not better than our beloved Sygate. You can find the link in Matt's Commonly Recommended Software, Links, And Tips pinned topic http://www.besttechie.net/forums/Commonly-...Tips-t4928.html Preston
  3. Marty Have you tried Pegasus Mail Not sure if it can do what you want but it is worth your while to try it.

  8. no. It is still a legit install with a legit Prod. code so activation was not a problem. I did not try it on my systen since they are running great but I used the same disk on a family members computer using the OEM Prod Code on the case label and it worked fine. Preston
  9. I found a PC mag review of COMODO firewall sounds like it maybe a replacement for my unsupported Sygate with a little testing. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1969225,00.asp
  10. It is called network noise nothing new a decent firewall would learn what to allow or not to. There should be an option to not bother you with this. ZoneAlarm can do this (since sygate is no more it is my top choice) Kerio is good also (maybe should be my first choice. C.O.M.O.D.O. is new to me but it is free and worth some test for me soon. http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ I do not trust any software given by a ISP. So I would not trust PeoplePC's stuff but I maybe wrong Preston
  11. There are some benchmarks with this little program that I have been testing. It provides a fair ammount of Sys info. Not as good as some but better than many. Emsa FlexInfo Pro http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Emsa_Flex...o/emsaflex.html Preston
  12. Pid=82503OEM is just the syntax (lack of a better word) the OEM part is the key mine reads Pid=55285OEM

  15. I have three PCs each cam with a product code for Windows XP home edition and the hidden partition to restore to factory. I usually keep a updated image of each PC to restore should it all go bad, this is so I do not have to un-install all the factory crap that came with it should the crash. Here is my question (I have heard yes and not but have never tried it to know since the op has never presented itself): I have a old copy of XP home ed. upgrade w/ it's own Product code that I no longer have installed on any PC. I have slipstreamed the Service packs into it, can I use it (should I decide
  16. Do you have a reason for needing it to be Web-Based? If you don't why not try Mozilla Sunbird http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/s...d/download.html there is also a portable version for a jumpdrive that makes it portable. http://portableapps.com/apps/office/organi...ortable_sunbird it is what I use. Hotmail and Mail.com have nice calendars I prefer mail.com's to Hotmail. My wife uses Desktop Calendar http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Desktop_C...desktopcal.html Preston
  17. I have used MusicMatch Jukebox for many years now. I don't buy a lot of music anymore but I subscribe to their on-demand service it is like having the worlds largest music collection at my finger tips. when I find a song I want to take with me I buy it then. Most of the time I just Que up a bunch and listen at home. This is not for everyone I get special pricing (reward of long history with them) I only pay $17.95 per quarter I think it is $7.95 per month otherwise. But buying music from them is easy and the format is not proprietary. Preston
  18. for those who are learning photoshop and want to learn some cool stuff Scott kelby's Down and Dirty tricks is great. I have the one for version 7 and love it. http://www.downanddirtytricks.com/

  23. that does include a nice 19 inch lcd. That is a great thing to have for even webbrowsing. If you take off $220 for the moniter, that leaves 275 for a great machine that will be functional for a long time. For just $275 you have a great machine with plenty of ram, fast boot, and can even backup to dvds. Even if you are not encoding video, or playing resource hog games, it is very nice to have. That computer also comes with a nice warranty.
