  1. You did not make that completely clear in your other posts. And did I not apologize for my pointed remarks? (and you angry icon won't make me go away I just wanted to make sure you are not wasting our time trying to get someting illegaly) So again I offer an apology to you.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I accept your apology .... I wouldn't ask someone to do something illegal. That's not my style. I'm just not happy with our current situation but like I said in the new thread that's another fourm .... it's obvious I have to call ..... from what shanenin posted I won't get hassled ... it's just the principle.

I think you are right. I need to learn about another OS. I started a thread on the Linux fourm. I'm going to check into it.

Thank you for your time.

It is a sad sign of the times. It gets tougher and tougher for the honest folks. I had as much to do with that as anyone else. When P2P became popular back in the day it was like Christmas little did we know that we were cutting our own throats. The consequences from back then are unreasonable copy protection, ( I had to uninstall a legit backup program to install FarCry) and Prices go up (I'm a graphic artist it cost to stay current). If I had known back then I never would have done it but we were all ignorant of Copyright laws back then it was sometime before I read up on it and found out I was wrong.

Thank you for accepting My apologies and I do hope I have not soured your experience on the boards. I'm not usually so pointed but I have been layed up with a cold and the nighquil makes me edgey.

  2. Your freind legally purchased the keys. Does he have installed copies on XP using those keys? if he does and gives it to you then it is a illegal copy (one copy one machine). Do yourself a favor and by a copy and stop trying to beat the system.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Like I said he legally purchase the keys and no he does not have installed copies on XP using the key he gave me. He got a special license with MS because he works on computers. He was given several keys with his license, and give one key per computer ... so my key is not being used on another computer.

No one is trying to beat anything. If you don't have any help to offer go about your own business. I'm not here to waste my time with your accusations. :angry2:

  3. Do you need to uninstall the old version of Opera before downloading the new version? If not is there any folders that should be backed up for reintegration?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I just install into the old folder I have never lost anything.

Not saying it could not happen I just never have.

  4. I always find it quite amusing when thieves get mad because it no longer is easy to steal. In the long run it will be less of a headache to just buy a copy of XP.

Could he not have purchased a OEM version cheaply with the new HDD?

I like your suggestion of another OS I think it is about time to look into Linux, BeOS, or BSD. I doubt that the poster being a thief would want to expend the energy to learn any other OS; but I bet it is much easier than fending off a gang rape should he end up in the pen for Software piracy. I hope this post makes he or she mad enough to take stock in the situation and turn around and join the the civilized world (the one where you work and pay for what you need).

What part of my friend purchase the keys legally didn't you understand? It is ignorant of you to make assumptions. :angry2:

  5. I think your computer guy stole my margarita machine and had a few too many.

(Is there a 12 step program for outdated tech advice?) :)

As vulnerable as Windows is, sp2 and the crtical updates and patches make it less so. Period. I sincerely doubt "hackers" could get access to those servers and cause a major disruption.

I have sp2 on everything and al the updates and no prroblems so far.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    I agree.

  6. "I got this copy from a friend with several keys. I will call him to find out what the deal is, but I really hate the idea of having to go to microsoft to ask for more activations. No way in hell will I purchase another copy."

So, your using this illegaly but still refuse to buy another copy?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

My friend legally purchase those keys thank you very much. .... and no I will not purchase another copy.

  7. It won't reactive again I had to format the drive a couple of times and now it tell me I can't reactivate.

This really pisses me off to have to go through this.  Since that wpa isn't valid what can I do.

I got this copy from a friend with several keys.  I will call him to find out what the deal is, but I really hate the idea of having to go to microsoft to ask for more activations.  No way in hell will I purchase another copy.

What to do?    :angry2:

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You complain that you hate their software yet you steal it. Either buy a license for it or switch to something else. It will reactivate with a current activation code, a free phone call to msft wil get you that...since you seem to feel entitled to everything else free you might as well take them up on their offer of a free phone call.

  8. What is this new user account for? What created it?

The aspnet_wp or ASP.NET Machine Account is created when the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 is installed onto a Windows XP computer. The user is created to run the asp.net worker process used in Microsoft's Internet Information Services, which allows ASP.net to run on your local web server (This is pretty much its only use, it is not used to run normal .net managed executables). There is not a need to worry about this user's presence; it was not created in malicious way.

ASP.net is a programming framework built on the common language runtime (Microsoft .net framework) which can be used on a server to build powerful Web applications. For more information on ASP.net see here

Why does it need another User Account?

Another user account is created for the ASP. Net Worker Process (Aspnet_wp.exe) so that it is not running with administrator privileges. This helps to increase security because if there was a breach the worker process is running as a lowly restricted user rather than having administrator privileges on the local machine. The big complaint with there being another user created is that when it is created it will prevent auto logon had there previously only been one user on the computer.

This can easily be corrected on the first version of the .Net Framework v1.1 by downloading the following registry file which fixes the problem by adding ASPNET to the special accounts list. To do this manually rather than using my file, go to Start > Run and type in regedit. Then create a new DWORD called ASPNET under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList. There is also another manual method which can correct this issue by having the user specify which account should be used for automatic logon (see here for details).

In September 2004 Microsoft released Service Pack 1 for version 1.1 of the .Net Framework, the automatic logon issue was corrected along with further security enhancements, and full support for Windows XP Service Pack 2. To download Service Pack 1 for the framework click here (10.2Mb Download).

    Can I delete it?

You can remove this account, but it is vital if you do asp.net development work on your machine.

By removing the account you may find your ASP.net projects will no longer function correctly.

It is possible to recreate the user by issuing the following command from the run dialog (changing the framework version number as appropriate)

    %systemroot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_regiis.exe /i

  9. my vote is for JetAudio I liked it so much a I paid for it. I use it to record play DVDs archive music in FLAC format (one of the better lossless formats smaller than .wav) Convert formats, rip, etc. You can't go wrong with it. For such a useful feature packed app. it uses little resources.

  10. Just bought a new case from newegg, and after installing everything in it (specs in sig) I had it running for a few hours downloading a bit torrent and when I got home a friend was already over changing stuff on his xanga and after a second the computer froze, something my computer rarely if ever does. I restarted it and the next time it froze after about 10 minutes. I then restarted the computer and this time it froze up right after all the startup items finished. I restarted it again and this time it froze up while the Windows XP was loading with the little blue loading bar. I restarted it again and it froze at the same spot. Now everytime I reboot it freezes in the same spot. I just now did advanced options (when it says boot Windows XP or Recover Console you press F8) and booted up in debug mode and it seems to be working now. I unplugged all the hardware I could think of earlier and that didn't seem to change anything so I plugged it all back in. Running virus scan now (already found 9 objects) and will update if it seems to be working. But does anybody have any clue why that might happen?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Are you sure you are not grounding out the MOBO in the new case?

I assume no dust buildup with a new case. Are all your fans connected right are they all on. Are we sure it is over heating? RAM seated correctly, PS connected proper? Area around Tower clear of obstuctions that prevent air flow? What About cable management, do they obstruct air flow?

  12. I found a few small towns around here with gas for $2.74 I'm sure it won't last long most are $3.00. I have to fillup 3x a week at 40 bucks a pop if it goes any higher I will have to quit one of my jobs to conserve gas. My question is what ever happen to the oil I heard so much about as a child that they built the alaskan pipline for?

I wonder if you have to modifiy your engine to run pure ethanol?

1 bushel of corn = 2 gallons of ethanol I'll find me a plot of land and start planting corn.

  13. singers;

    1. Buddy Holley

    2. Gene Watson

    3. Tanya Tucker

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Did I ever tell you I got Tanya Tuckers goat.

Literally she had a pigmy goat and with family growing her hubby said one kid or the other had to go. So I bought it then sold it.

Then I got in a long fight with Barbra mandrell. This was all it the 80's.

    B. Madrell and I had a fall out over some work I did to repair the carpet in her souviner shop (gone now) where the installer got the pattern about 5 inches off.

I had to charge the company More than they paid to have it installed originally plus extra to move the crappy displays. After 3mos I had not been paid I files a labor lean and had the Sherrif threaten to lock the palce until stettled. Now me against the company was no contest but she had fallen out of the graces of the public by this point in sueing the family of the young man who died after crashing into her so they did not want to tango with another innocent. She only had s small intrest as I hear in the company (they paid for her name) so I do not know why she took it so personal.

A couple later she had me kicked of the loading dock at the Tenn. Performing Art Center (TPAC) She was using one theater to practice stage show and I was installing carpet in the other but she did not want my Truck near her's so she talk to the president and they aked me to park on the street where I was towed away.

I found out the hard way that the city does not recognize State parking permits during rush hour. Funny to watch the State tooper cars being towed after metro called the tows on them.

Why I posted this is a mystery but since I took the time to do so I 'll post it.

  14. My job only allows us internet access on a need to basis. I work for the one of the Largest telephone companies in the nation and no internet. I have to make a request to my manager to To get new logos and Late model cars from large corparations advertising sections. Now they allow us access to do certifications, and tutorials but after that or computers change the password to access. We have a tight ship. They know to the second what aps we are using and how long it took per ad. Anything that stinks of a .exe not installed by the company notifies the SA even at home. I understand the security they pride themselves in my building on the fact that we are the only major office that has never lost a day of work due to virus, but on the other hand we are not children and can be trust esspecially since we all know they monitor everything down to our internal e-mails. Just asked the guy they caught selling Bootleg DVDs. Many of his clients  were employees and made there request by internal web mail (I do not approve of his actions or the companies strick review of every word typed in our web-mails). That brings me to the final atrosity we all have DVD roms at our workstations but we cannnot watch movies during lunch or breaks.

They final lifted the ban on Cellphone in the building.

By the way my company is it's own ISP they own it. I could get a discount on DSL but my nieghborhood in a mile outside ther service area.

    OK my rant is over

HOLY CRAP! You must really love your job, or Nashvilles job market must be bad. That kind of distrust on the part of employers is too much stress for me. I do however envy your location, I loved Nashville. I went to school up in Bowling Green.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No I love my job they pay well. and benefits out the rear very relaxed dress code

(they don't want to stiffle our creativity). But we are not treated as well as the sales reps though we are the ones that create and refine what they have sold to the customer. They get commision/ win trips to cancun and Hawaii and we get Walmart gift certificates and company branded crap (got more T-shirts, jackets and Mugs they is need). I do get a sizable bonus per year. and flex time so it all works out.
