Ok im going to try making this work with my Live CD before I install either of them. I think im going to go with unbuntu anyways

ok ok now im lost.... would the drivers from ralink website be easier to install untill i get a handle on linux? I downloaded the fedora core just incase but i have the live Cd and the install disk for Ubuntu Uhh yea what does that mean? Sorry if I am asking some really stupid questions but i truely dont know anything about linux.

Well i have a Turtle Beach Catalina WDM. Im jus looking for a way to take some strain off my CPU. That game seriously makes my computer really work for it.

Doesnt software use more CPU?

Just wondering about this but wich would be better. Software acceleration or hardware acceleration for sound? There is an option in battlefield 2 wich allows for hardware acceleration. Would this be good for better game performance?

well i still have ubuntu so im going to try to go with that first. Illl update once i try it.

Electrical tape is great but I had a bit of a problem when I used it and it was in my CPU fan wash. I think the hot air from my CPU might of screwed with the adhesive

I want to get a brandnew start on linux. I didnt really enjoy my last try with the dual boot with ubuntu. I couldnt get it to boot windows first and it seemed a bit slow etc etc etc. Ok i want a new start. Whats something I can easily start out with? How do I get windows to boot first? Most importantly my real question is this. The last time I had ubuntu I couldnt go on the internet. Ubuntu wouldnt recognize my ralink rt2500 wireless lan card. I looked online for some guides but the ones I read got so confusing at time or needed an existing connection at the time. Is there a good linux distro

It is the drive windows is installed on. And anyway while installing WinXP it told me I only had 130 GB or so. My system cannot see the rest of the drive.

Nope wait i just finished installing SP2 and it still shows that i have 130GB

Ok good im installing sp2. Im happy its something as simple as that.

Hey guys its been a while since I posted. My old harddrive died and I just got a new one. Its a Maxtor 250GB 6L250S0. I just installed windows on this computer and its reading that my drive only has 130 GB. Could this be a problem with my motherboard. My motherboard is a DFI Lanparty UT nf3 250 GB.

well I was trying to find out how I could make speedfan change the fan speeds automaticly. Im fairly sure you CAN do it I just need to find out how.

I dont think he knows how to even open the repair console. Hes not so good at this. well anyway to open it you will see soon after you start the boot from the CD "Press R to repair". When you press it shall take you to the repair console

yes the fan I want to control is plugged into the motherboard. Its a Dfi Lanparty nf3

Does anybody know how to do this. I looked up my motherboard on their site and it said that my Motherboard was capable of doing this. Those three little things near the bottom that say fanspeed01, 02, and 03 dont change the speed of the the chasis fan. Is there another way or am I even doing it correctly in the first place.

Ok i attached the fan using some zip ties since it was a bit too small. My system is running a bit cooler but I was just wondering if anybody knew how to turn it down a little using speedfan or something. I attached it to the chassieport on the motherboard.

Ok doing something new here to try to cool down my system. I have this stock AMD HSF sitting around. Well Im going to remove the fan from the HS and stick it in the back where hopefully the screw holes will match up and ill have added another fan. Ill post back after I try this.

Ok yes it does only this time my CPU hit 100% and stayed becuase IE crashed. I normally use firefox but it was an IE only site.

I will the next time this problem comes around again
