  1. Shanenin: I didn't have to use sfc, but was able to fix the problem. I will post the LINK to the Fix I posted in the Malware Removal Instructions for WinAntivirus 2009 - using these instructions put the taskbar and startmenu in good order in ten minutes!! Thanks for all the Help and encouragement Team Brian
  2. Hello All: I was able to fix the Windows Vista Taskbar and Start Menu Problem by doing the following things: SYSTEM: Acer Aspire Laptop OS: Windows Vista Basic, Service Pack 1 1. RIGHT CLICKon the Desktop, Choose Personalize and Left Click on it 2. Choose Window Color and Appearance 3. CHANGE:Window Color and Appearance to be "Windows Vista Basic", Click Apply and OK 4. CHANGE:Desktop Background to your Favorite Picture, and Click Apply and OK 5. CHANGE:Theme to "Windows Vista" and Click Apply and OK NOTE: It seems as if the MBAM did make changes to the Taskbar and Start Button, but it is u
  3. scissorhands7: Thank you for your advice: However, This is a Vista Machine, and I want the machine to return to its default state after removing WinAntivirus 2009. My friend also wishes for me to return the taskbar and start button to the way it was - These instructions seem to be not online, which is why it is annoying: Vista is a good system, However, M$ may want to rethink some of the ways it deals with the system, so Windows 7 is not as buggy or anoying Brian
  4. You should turn your computer on, and start tapping F8 as soon as you can, because this will allow the choice of which mode you want to start windows in - You want to choose "Safe Mode" - This way, we can see if you can at least boot with the minimum drivers - As stated before, you may have a driver that is stopping you from a full boot, and at least if we can get you into safe mode, we can determine if its a driver problem - If it isn't we can see if the Malware Team has any ideas Brian
  5. MichaelC: Can you boot in Safemode? Reboot your machine, and before the Windows Screen Loads, start tapping F8 - Then choose "Safe Mode" You could have something stopping a full load up, and at least this would allow us to know if you can boot up in safe mode - Could be a driver or program stopping/freezing you up Brian
  6. Add me to the list of the "late wishes" HAPPY BITHDAY Marty - Hope you had fun with your family Brian
  7. Jeff: I'll Jump In January 2009 Brian
  8. shanenin: Will try that, however, I hope that there is a way to restore the startbutton and taskbar to the default ones when you first get Vista - seems really strange, unless Malware or MBAM did damage to the theme Brian
  9. Happy Birthday Papa Enjoy it Brian
  10. Hi Everyone: I had a friend that was infected with this, and a few other nasties, and when I got done, I had a Classic Taskbar and Start Button: LINK HERE I used MBAM to scan for and remove all of the nasties - but cannot revert back to the Vista Style Taskbar and Start Button - Did/Does MBAM change this behavior, and if so, how do I change it back to the Vista Style (Theme still appears OK, but I cant change the startbutton or the Taskbar to what it would normally look like) Brian
  11. Pete_c: If this is a driver issue, how do I fix it so that when I am in normal mode, that the correct drivers load? Regardless of which mode is chosen, (Normal or Safe) I still get the classic start button and grey taskbar Thanks, Brian
  12. Hello All: I had a friend today who told me he had been hit with WinAntivirus 2009. Using MBAM in safemode, updated it in "Safemode with Networking," Then ran MBAM, in normal mode, removing this infection and others. In Safemode Vista gives you a taskbar and startmenu that looks like prior versions of Windows, and I want to restore the Vista Looking Taskbar. I used Taskbar and Startmenu and tried to restore the defaults, but the taskbar does not return to normal. This is a Vista Home Basic Machine (Acer Aspire Laptop) Is there a way to restore the Vista Taskbar to normal? I wonder if MBAM

    Category 7

I bought a book yesterday that was cool: its called Category 7: The Biggest Storm in History and it is by Bill Evans and Marianna Jameson. It is like a science novel, and details a story of what could happen if a Category 7 storm (I think there are only 5 categories though) Hits New York or New England..... I just started reading it yesterday, but will continue to read it as I can Has anyone else read any good books lately? Brian
  14. I voted by absentee ballot about 2 weeks before the election. We had a landslide election for Obama, but we reelected Gov. Douglas (Republican) in Vermont for another 2 years. Most of the incumbants in Vermont won reelection easily. One thing that bugged me was that we had a charter change question on the ballot - was a business registration fee for businesses in my area. Problem was that the way it was WORDED made it sound like it was giving the city permission to change the City's Charter whenever they need to do it. I voted NO simply because I didn't understand what the devil I was voti
