  1. I have seen G ,N and one other I can't remember wireless Routers and would like to know the difference in them? Is one faster than the others? And is the difference noticeable? I have 3MB speed and use a Laptop and the Wii machine wireless and a desktop hard wired to the Router I have which is a G.

  2. I would think the Compaq has a partition on the HD that holds the installation. If so he should be able to use the Recovery system. When he boots the PC there should be a Key function that allows him to use Recovery Console. If he had a Disk to do the install the Key may be written on the disk itself. Or like TT stated it might be on the back of the case of the PC.

  3. The newest AVG update is supposed to fix the problem.

Thanks TT, I did update AVG and downloaded OA once more and all seems to be well now. There is a Virus that attaches itself to oaui.exe that is reported on Symantic's web site. Might be why AVG had that file listed as bad. Not the real threat but like people sometimes do(ASSUMED) it was bad.

  4. AVG told me that the oaui.exe file which is used by online armor is a Trojan horse. sheur.bgkv and so now Online Armor will not show the shield in the lower right hand corner of my task bar. Also I get the warning that I do not have any Fire wall installed. So I reinstalled Online Armor and it still will not work.

I have noticed AVG has been acting up and when it updates I have to reboot in order for it to work as well.

Anyone have this problem with Online Armor and AVG?

  5. After every 15 minutes my computer stops working and say computer memory is full , and after 1 minute it starts reworking without any problem, and then again after 15 minutes ...

    Thanks

After seeing all the posts you have on here, I would just go out and buy a new PC. Looks like the one you have isn't doing anything right for you. OR, just stop messing with it.

  6. I think it must be something in the settings. I think if you go into the settings: Tools/Internet Options Connections and see what is listed in Lan settings you might find a problem. Automatically Detect settings is the only thing I would have checked. Even try to Reset the Advanced Settings. Just in case something is getting transfered over from IE6 that IE7 doesn't like. Again try going to another site when you get the message use www. and see if that helps.

  7. Didn't help but thanks. I am removing Quicktime and Real Player. I did an experiment and deleted one of the movie files and then went to open the recycle bin and it took a long time to open. I did figure out that if I wait long enough the folders open. 1 minute or even longer. So I figure it must be something to do with one or both Real Player and or Quicktime. Will let you all know if that works.

  8. Tried Kellys Korner and used restore Icon view and Thumbnail view and still locks up while generating thumbnails.

This is my daughters PC I am trying to fix. I open My Pictures then choose her 2007 Picture folder and almost every time it locks up the folder. Is there a limit on how many folders and files that can be with in another folder? She has 44 folders and 1805 files in that one folder called 2007. Windows XP Home is the OS.

I also tried Kellys Korner "Increase Folder view size limit to 8000" And still no help.

Other folders seem to work fine and show the thumbnails. This folder only shows some of the folders as thumbnails. Any help appreciated.

  9. When you install IE7 and try to run it. What is the web site you are trying to access? After you get the message try typing in Yahoo.com in the address field and see if it will load. If you go to Tools/Internet options it will tell you what the home page is. Try another site then the one in that field. Also your Firewall might be blocking the other site.

  10. Sounds like a driver problem. Did you just install any new Devices? Try going into Safe Mode and then into Device Manager and look and see if there is any Devices that have a Yellow or Red ! next to them. If there is Remove it and restart.

Could also be a heat problem. Have you cleaned out the case lately with a can of AIR? Unplug the Case and open one side up and clean it real god. Blow out the CPU and Heat Sink, Memory all fans and do a general cleaning. See if that helps.

  11. First you should post your log file in the Malware section.

Are you using Dialup or Broadband? I've seen Modems just go out and using another PCI slot fixed them. Broadband could be the ISP's problem, have you contacted them? Are you using a Broadband Modem? Are you using a Router?

  12. Your Old PC might just have a problem with the graphics card drivers. Remove the Graphics card from Device manager if there is a problem with it. Yellow or Red ! next to it in Device Manager. Anything you remove the PC with try and install on Reboot. It wont loose any of your files.
