  1. correct

And you are using your own known good monitor? Back in the 80's I had a 8088 System that blew the chip on the board that I replaced to get video. I am pretty sure they don't have such a chip on the motherboard anymore and just use the graphics cards. The only thing I would do is try another graphics card and also try it in a different card slot if possible. Most likely it is using the only card slot on the motherboard for graphics. AGP Pci Express or whatever they have now.

  2. Bookmarks, tools, all the stuff on the top is now gone. I was told by my DD she didn't do anything, but it was there when I left.

How do I get them back? (What I DO have is my Stumble stuff, and Amazon). I can't close either one of those, even when I try.

If all else fails reboot. But just open the toolbar menu and make sure it is highlighted!

  3. Well isn't the old Hibernation state still saved in a hibernation file or something? If i resumed that file wouldn't all my work return? How would I possibly boot back into that old Hibernation file? I assume my data is still in the hiberfil.sys file, so shouldn't I still be able to retrieve that somehow? If not by forcing it to resume directly from that file, by somehow reading the file? Though booting from it would be ultimately more preferable because I had other programs open at the time, as well.

So you found such file on your PC? I am almost positive you can not run that file or you would have done so by now. All you can do is try to run it. Reboot and go into command system and try to run it.

  4. I'm running an Alienware M17x, and I had been working on a couple of unsaved notepad files recently that were pretty big. Probably should've saved them, but I didn't, and instead I'd just set my computer to Hibernate when I was done working. Anyways, I took it out of Hibernate today and decided to run Crysis to take a break for a short while (I had multiple IE tabs and windows open as well as my notepad docs, all from before hibernation if that makes a difference) and I got BSOD'd. Is there ANY possible way I can recover those notepad files? Temp folders or anything?? I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with an SSD.

Also, I'm not sure if this would work or not cause I'm relatively inexperienced with this, but would it be possible to trick the computer into resuming the old hibernation state from yesterday/this morning? Because then I'd have everything back again...It's worth a shot right?

I have found that using Hibernation is not good no matter what windows you have. As far as recovering something that wasn't saved I would say no it isn't possible.NO way to recover from a Hibernation and BSOD.

  5. Hey guys. So I've been trying to update my Command Center so that I can change the colors of my lighting scheme. I had Command Center installed when I first got my computer and it worked fine. When i tried to update command center to (I think) A05 I got a fatal error upon opening only the FX portion of command center. I figured it was just a bad update and waited a while for the next one. So now I'm left with the same error and I'm not sure what to do or what could be causing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If this is a program that came with your PC can't you just restore it from HD or Disk?

  6. thanks guys! I didnt have any external hardwares attached. though right now, things seem fine, i will have to observe if i really got the problem fixed (doing nothing!) i still need to know what really happened though just in case it occurs again..

Have you connected an external drive or flash drive to it recently? And if so did you just unplug it or use the Safe to remove system?

  7. I did a sytem restore, cause of the fact the tabs on the bottom were empty (never let a teen on your screen as administrator on a new pc). Anyway, ever since then, FF won't open, and I can't uninstall it. I tried safe mode, that didn't work either. I found a couple of links online, but they are broken. I did a search here, and didn't find the topic.

    Thanks!

Sometimes you can download a bad file or there is an error while downloading. Try downloading it again and make sure your on Mozilla's web site when you do.

  8. After buying a new Router I also had to end up buying a new Wireless adapter for my wife's PC. The old one just quit on her. All is well now with the Router on my desk and not next to the Printer. Well I thought all was well until I took apart that old wireless adapter and got it to work on another PC in another room. Plugged it in and made some updates to that PC and went to pick up the wife. Came home and my wife's PC couldn't connect to my Router again. Had to unplug the router and plug it back in. I am now thinking it was that stupid Belkin Wireless adapter I had all this time. It is unplugged again and no problems with the router shutting off anymore. My sister has the same Wireless adapter and has to unplug it and plug it back in every day to make it work. I think they are just JUNK. And I do think you get what you pay for and I paid the price this time.

  9. One good thing to remember is when you set up a new PC you should always only install 1 program at a time and try the PC out before installing another. This way you will know what program causes the problems. And some programs clash with others. Like 2 Antivirus programs is not a good idea as well as 2 or more Toolbars on IE or Firefox. I have never had good luck with any toolbar. And there are programs that are constantly trying to update on the internet. These cause problems and you should turn off auto updates for them.

  10. It may have been the power adapter. I have a 2Wire router supplied by my ISP. It was acting up then finally wouldn't connect at all. The service tech came over and gave me a new power adapter and told me not to plug it in my UPS or in a power strip.

Well after buying a new Router I found out it still did the same thing. So I moved the new router back onto my desk away from the Printer and haven't had a problem since. I guess that printer must throw out some serious interference. The router is about 18 inches from the PC and 8" away from a speaker and now problems.

Oh and I also plugged the new router in with an extension cord to another outlet. But the printer would still throw it out even when the printer was off.

My Cell phone causes the speakers to make noises when I put it on my desk also.

  11. How do you have the Hard drives hooked up? I would make both master drives and have the CD/DVD drive as slave to one of them. As far as clicking could be you have a bad connection to one or both drives.A bad connection can cause freezing and bad shut down as well. Double check all your connections to all drives and devices. This includes the Graphics card. Also I would go into BIOS and make sure nothing is set up to wake up the PC.

  12. After going most of the day with no problems I went out and bought a new router. All day was fine and I even plugged the old router into another wall outlet and when I turned my back for a minute the router disconnected again. I will try the new router out for a while and hopefully it will be fine. If I have the same problems with it I guess the next step is to contact the ISP. Oh and the printer wasn't on all day either so I just don't know. This is the 2nd Linksys Router I owned and the 2nd one that went bad. First one just wouldn't work at all anymore.
