  1. Marty, start your own thread, don't hijack this one. Thanks.
  2. In ZA you should be able to go into the "Programs" option and allow file and print sharing.
  3. It would help to know what OS you are running....assuming 98se..is that correct?
  4. Go into the task manager, kill the process related to the program and then unistall the app/delete the icon
  5. Simple to fix for someone who know a lot about computers. But not to a dummy like me. I'll check those links in greater detail when I get home. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> To begin insert your Windows XP Home CD and reboot you computer. A message "Press any key to boot from CD....." will appear, press the space bar to continue. Setup will now inspect your computer hardware and configuration. Setup now prepares your computer for install. From this menu press "ENTER" to begin the repair install. Windows XP License agreement, read, and if you agree press "F8" to continue, pr
  6. from the run command, try sfc /scannow. This should check your system files against the originals, you may need your OS disk to execute the repair.
  7. 1) You will not be able to use the programs on pc#1 unless they are also on pc#2. You don't share programs that way, just data. Unless you have a NOS and networkable programs that part isn't going to happen. (Think of it this way. in an office, all the people share the same word docs that are stored on a central server, but each workstation still has its own version of Word installed. The documents they work with are on the server, but the programs are local to each machine) 2) As far as email goes, You can share your .pst file but you will need to point your machines local e-mail program to t
  8. Can he ping the outside world? Is he actually connected to the network? (can he ping the router). Just because his card see's a signal at 100% doesn't mean he's connected to it.
  9. Your best solution...try it and see if you like the results.
  10. Yep, either that or he's not logged in as an admin.
  11. Did you set up a user profile in your cards settings?
  12. True, your signal can be affected by a great many things. Ask yourself, what has changed recently?
  13. Legal my Sexy Indian Ass... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh baby... If you have a program like partition Magic, you can just make two equal partitions now and then repartition the left over spac later or merge them togethor. I usually leave a 10G partion for my OS and programs and the rest is data.
  14. I've never heard of a limit to the number of files that can be stored, simply the amount of data that can be. I suppose if you found the smallest possible file size, probably 1kb, and divided up the available storage space on a particular cd, you would get a pretty good estimate.
  15. A+ as a standalone cert is pretty useless, but as someone pointed out, it is part or a prerequisite for other certs and many, but by no means all or even the majority, of companies will require certain certs for certain jobs. So having the paper certainly won't hurt you. Will it help you land a $70,000/yr job, no, is it part of the req's for an MCSE which could lead into a good paying job...yes it is. If you have the time, its never a waste to get more knowledge, but don't ever think that a pieceof paper is going to land you a job, especially over experience. Get your foot in the door, it can'
  16. Try here also. Hacking the Bios: http://www.governmentsecurity.org/articles...kingthebios.php <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This tool will reset your password for NT based systems
  17. If the problem persists with 2 different sets of media and it won't boot straight from the cd, it almost has to be hardware related. Clean out your cd reader. Why are you using floppies to boot from? (Just curious)
  18. The p/s is standard, the mobo might be unique. Check the mounting screws and compare them to a standard atx board. Also, check out the power button connections.
  19. Normanantivirus, wierdontheweb and cashback/rebates are all spyware programs. disable system restore, boot into safe mode and run add/remove programs an uninstall those 3. Then run your spyware and antivirus again, in safe mode. You can re-enable system restore when you boot back into regular mode and don't see those 3 programs in your HJT log. (I'm not reccomending using HJT to remove them, try uninstalling them first and Google those three apps, there are removal instructions available for them)
  20. Is this a burned copy of windows? (ie borrowed, not an original)
  21. You may be getting some interference from a new source that wasn't previously there. Go thru your card setup program and create a user profile for your laptop, that should give your "home" network preference over any other network in range.
  22. Ditto, thats a parralel port. Do you mean a card that plugs directly into the mobo (refering to your "externa;" card) by wires similar to a USB internal connection? I don't believe that mobo supports internal 1394 but you can get a decent firewire card, pci version, for next to nothing (usually less then $25)
