  1. I remember him fondly from the old Leoville days.
  2. That's nice to know. Now tell me how this is relevent to the post.
  3. From everything I've read, there seems to be a higher level of craziness in Queensland compared to the rest of Australia. I attribute it to the heat. Here in the U.S. we have a similar problem in a certain region of the country. Again, I attribute that to the heat. Joe
  4. Sorry I'm late, but I brought a cake.
  5. I wish we could talk about health care reform in a meaningful way too. But as you know it's sometimes hard to get a word in edgewise amongst the screaming lunatic unhinged fringe. So sometimes we have to play their game just to regain some sense of sanity. For instance, here's an oldie but goodie! And is has to be true. She heard it at the Liberry!

I noticed that also. Marty, we all hope you are well. Keep in touch. Joe
  7. From what I've been reading over the past few days, it seems that Joe Wilson was actually a REAL ESTATE lawyer, not the immigration attorney that he boasted to be before the international press. Here's one snippet that I just found on the "internets". Hey Joe, did you lie?
  8. Edit: However... this doesn't quite fit the "ring" idea. Intellectually this "ring/ circle" theory doesn't make much sense to me. I do understand the schematics of it, but people do not generally ride a political mery-go-round during their lifetime. Except of course the political slime that blow with the prevailing wind. But I don't think you are talking about them, are you?
  9. The problem then is, if conservatives believe that Obama fits under the much more moderate definition of Socialism... then how is comparing him to Marx or Hitler applicable, let alone logical? You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you believe Socialism == Social Democracy == Obama then Obama != Marx != Hitler Edit: After posting the above, I realize that my statement generalizing the beliefs and attitudes of conservatives is unfair. Let me apologize for that and attempt to reiterate what I'm trying to say. The problem that I have--and perhaps its a problem with the media--is that many c
  10. Did Kucinich drink the Kool-Aid,.... or is he now channeling the "brain" of George Dubya?
  11. They are both funny and true. Great post. I found this particular one interesting: "The odds of going to the store for a loaf of bread and coming out with only a loaf of bread are three billion to one. ~Erma Bombeck" The sad fact is that I'll go to the store for a loaf of bread and come home with $200 worth of groceries. And then I'll have to go BACK to the store to buy the loaf of bread that I forgot to buy.
  12. LOL Good one Sultan. landlubber ... whale blubber Captain Ahab
  13. To slightly allay your concerns, though the OS and other compatible software may be lacking in recent support and updates, few attacks specifically target the features of old OS's. Most new exploits will only target newer OS's and programs -- via services and features that older OS's simply never had. I kept an old computer going as long as I could and many times I saw scan results that stated my Windows version was not susceptible to a particular new exploit because it did not contain the exploited feature. There are plenty of exploits that don't rely on newer features of Windows to do their
  14. What about a Knoppix version run from CD? Can't be any worse than LoseMe, I mean WinMe.
  15. Three things that just don't make sense to me: Women's shoes, modeling, and news anchors.

  18. Where to start? This is so disturbing on so many levels. Here's the original article from the Portland (Maine) Press-Herald. Take a look at this guys eyes. Does the word "vacant" come to mind? I'd say some serious psychiatric intervention would be in order here. The 30 day jail term probably wouldn't accomplish a whole lot. Unfortunately mental health therapy has been replaced by incarceration in this country. I hiked extensively in the White Mountains and it's one of my favorite places on Earth. Back in those days the most we had to worry about were bears and mosquitoes. I'd hate to run into
  19. They just block the router ports. Unfortunately a lot of networks do this, including some ISP's.
  20. Hey Payday. Can you cash a check for me? It's from Nigeria in the amount of 1 Million dollars US. I don't have any ID, but if you'll front me 2 Million in cash, I'll send you back the 1 Million. Thanks
