A young family moved into a house, next door to a vacant lot. One day a construction crew turned up to start building a house on the empty lot. The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and spent much of each day observing the workers. Eventually, the construction crew, all of them gems-in-the-rough, more or less adopted her as a kind of project mascot. They chatted with her let her sit with them while they had coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important. At the end of the fir

Oh, that's cute, Marty! I know if some dogs had fingers like we did, yep, they'd definitely express themselves that way Well, they'd use an opposable thumb to open the box of dog cookies first, of course.... Liz

I got eleven, including the Malicious Software Removal Tool (I don't trust that enough yet to use it, so I only installed ten) Two were for MS Office and one was for Internet Explorer. Do you have Office? If not, that might explain why you had less updates. **Whoops, the Office Updates I got, aren't on Sultan's list, either. Did you happen to write down the updates before you installed them? Liz

Smart Dad! Nope, no sympathy from me, I'm a girl :D Liz

Nag, nag, nag.....OK, I admit it, that's me! Hmmmm, but Hubby's name must be "Ignore, Ignore, Ignore" That "selective hearing thing", y'know? Good one, Marty! Liz

Gels are a good idea--because they are heat resistant, they are probably tougher than luminous paper (I'm going to go Brit and use that term! ) From what I understand from Daughter the Actor, they are just barely thicker than luminous paper--thicker enough so they won't wrinkle easily like luminous paper does. Daughter said your best bet would be to go to your local Community College's theatre dept and ask to look at them (this time of year with no productions going on, they're lonely and will be very willing to show you what a gel looks like and likely to let you play with them, too!!) Luminous paper sounds so much more artsy than cellophane. The Brits DO speak better English! Liz

The kids were talking of seeing Monster House and I'll give them your "thumbs up", thanks, Naming! Liz

Like Marty said, you are always here for us on our bad days, Macmarauder so thank YOU! I hope things continue to get better and better for you. Liz

And of course, Aunts and Uncles are obligated to get their nieces and nephews the noisy and messy toys for Christmas (finger paint is a must-have)! One sister still hasn't forgiven me for sending her boys the game, "Risk". Am I going to tell her we now have a no-mess computer version? Nope. Liz

Look at it this way, Hitest; if either of us were to jump from a plane, we'd pass out or die from fright the minute we're airborne so the landing wouldn't hurt Me too. Deathly afraid of heights. I watch my Daughter on stage, singing and acting and it just amazes me that MY offspring is capable of doing that, and she has no stage fright whatsoever. Cool as a cucumber the entire time. I wish I could do that, but it ranks right there with jumping out of an airplane. Liz

Love it! Not saying anything about "been there done that" Thanks, Marty Liz

It takes guts to speak up, DD and I'm glad you did! Especially about supplying plenty of water with the hot spell we've had. Good for you! In this sue-happy society the threat of being sued is ruining so much fun for kids. Sad, isn't it? Maybe the camps will realise that the best alternative is to have the parents sign a liability form. I'm glad you stuck up for the kids, afterall, this camp is for THEM! Liz

*does the good and plenty hand shake* even though I don't have a box of good and plenties. Doggone it , Jdoors, you're going to have that Slinky song stuck in my head, now! Got 12 1/2 right --instead of Beetle for the VW nickname I chose "Slug Bug" and "Bug" Thanks, Marty! Slug Bug Red, No Slug Bug Back!! Liz

I've felt and heard (I never knew you can HEAR them!) two tiny earthquakes up here in Michigan in the past 20 years. Even though they were only about a "2", it was pretty freaky! Would have thought it was just a semitruck except for that eerie sound (and the news reports later!) I'm sorry the kitty's sick, Pat! Hope she gets back to her old loony self soon! Liz

Smart Injun! Gotta send that one on, thanks, Jim Liz

You're right..I think!! (don't appreciate the gray hairs, though!) Now the phone calls where he asks for DAD always guarantees me listening in on the other telephone Thank God those calls are usually harmless! Oh, waiting for the day when they officially grow up--but it won't change anything, whole new set of worries, right? Liz
