  1. Macmarauder, aren't you supposed to use the fabric to wipe the cheeto crumbs off your fingers? Sweatpants and Sweatshirt, except for shorts in July and August. Sunglasses, Baseball Hat or Squint?
  2. Christopher Lloyd is great! What I call every "unit of measure" on the computer... JIGAWATTS!!
  3. Hi Oldtimer and welcome!!! I like your name Liz
  4. Hi All, Biding my time until Son realizes he left a bit of homework here. He'll call, I'll read him his answers and then off to the yardwork---another beautiful spring day in Michigan. Rude drivers get my goat, too, especially when I have young'uns driving with them! I hate tailgaters! SUVs and vans are the worst cuprits around here. I KNOW it has to be easy to tailgate, because these vehicles really have no front end, but it is so intimidating when your entire rear view mirror is full of grill! I just blinker, pull off the road and let them pass me. My kids holler, "MOM!!! Tailgate 'e
  5. Hi Marty, Thanks for finding this! I did a little looking around and the post is in Tech Support "last known location" page 3, in case anyone wanted to read the thread (or give an endorsement? ). G4 site seems to be running very slow, though. Liz

    About U?

Hi Pandy, Welcome!! You will really like it here. A great group of folks! I came into the computer era kicking and screaming, too (durn kids and their homework....). Got a few years on you, but you sound like your kids are teenagers or just about anyways---dig your heels in and stay home with those kids. I "retired" when my oldest was 13 and it was the best decision I've ever made. Little kids need a nurturing caregiver but teenagers sure need adult supervision! Our house became "home base" and because of that, I know what they're doing Just need to have an ample supply of groceries! Li
  8. ....Only because this is what I thought when reading this.... Ew, Ew, EWWWW!! A fruit fly with a tall glass of water. How in the world does Macmarauder come up with these???

    Favorite Music

Hi B and Matt, Thanks for the comments, I'll have to pass that on to Gramma, she'll get a kick out of it! Think she likes punk because she grew up in the Swing Era--she did the jitterbug with all the flips (and son loves swing music and swing dancing--must be in them genes) Punk and Swing are such "active" music. Don't think she'll fare well in a mosh pit, though Liz
  10. Apple Core?!?!? Ok, you started it, from an old Donald Duck and Chip and Dale cartoon: Chipmunk: "Apple Core?" Donald: "Love You More" Chipmunk: "Who's your friend?" Donald: "Me!" *splat!!!* Chipmunk smashes apple in Donald's face Donald: "Whhhaaaaaaa"

Hi Echobay, Hunted and found 2 of 'em, Moondog Serenade(1973) and A Song or Two(1972). Nestled between Moody Blues and......Jim Croce's Photographs and Memories!!! Poor records smell kinda musty...... And KeithLDick, Yes!! Both versions of the band!! (You young'uns, *cough*download*cough*Yes) Me thinks we are dating ourselves here--well, at least everyone already knows I'M old ......Liz

Hi Echobay, Cashman and West? Wow!!! That brought back memories (smiles and thinks about the 33rpm record stuffed in my collection near Dan Fogelberg) Thanks! Liz

Hi B, Your list made me chuckle--my son introduced my 72 year old mother to Punk Rock (...she wanted to know what's new in music...) and she absolutely LOVES NFG!! He even ended up copying her a CD. Guess my eccentric tastes are from her genes... (but Boston? :sighs and slaps forehead...: ) Liz
  14. Hi murtu52, As far as email goes, think about a hotmail (ugh, buggy), yahoo or gmail address--accessible from any computer with internet and you won't have to put it on your flashdrive. That's what my kids use just for that reason (so they can check their mail during computer class after they finish their assignment!). Save your extra jigawatts for your homework, young'un Liz

    Google Map

Hi! This could be fun! Anyone figure out how to zoom in? My address "doesn't exist" (figures....) but it did find my town and my street. All I could see is treetops and the farm fields! (no I DON'T live on a farm!!! ) Liz

    Good Grief...!

Hi Vile_Dr, Hmmm, clear ink? Could be a Godsend to the kids who say their dog ate their homework....better get Macmarauder busy on that! and Hello Sidekickcat, I laughed and laughed at your "little darlings" rant! My son plays soccer, but I am sooo far from your typical Soccermom. On the way to each game, I whine, "Do I HAVE to be nice to them?" Luckily the worst Soccermoms won't let me into their cliche And totally agree with the rest of your comments. Ran daycare when my kids were tiny (so I could stay home) and it is so sad to see parents putting their "careers" ahead of their precio
  17. Knockknock, Remodeling done yet? 70 degrees here and the snow is FINALLY gone (hooray!) but too windy to do yardwork! Any iced tea? Liz
  18. Hi KeithLDick, My sentiments are the same as Sidekickcat's. I've only lurked at "the other place", and I've often read your great advice. Nice to see yet another familar name! Liz
  19. Hi All, Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I feel much better knowing I probably won't lose my internet connection (my kids think it is essential for their survival....) and especially explaining the system restore thing--that was really bugging me! And the extra info is great! (and feel free to keep the tips coming!) Thanks again, Liz
  20. "ah-one, ah-two, ah-three. Crunch. Three" For the fellow oldsters, who am I quoting above?
  21. Hi all, Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes with a dumb question. I want to make sure this idiot box is as spotless as possible before getting SP2 and from what I read, and what Dell recommends, Adaware is a "best bet" for spyware cleanup. But I remember reading about problems with Adaware "knocking out" IE--but never read if the problem has been resolved (I've looked) and don't remember what the fix was---soooo, will my IE work if I install and run Adaware? I'm assuming it will, but I'm a big chicken! Also confused with running Antispystuff and turning off syst
  22. In MI, there is now a rule that learners have to drive 50 hours with a parent before obtaining that license (50 hours is a loooonnnnggg time) soooo.... Gray hairs!!!!
  23. Hi Flashh4, Don't follow my advice until someone "of knowledge" confirms this!! I'm a total noob, would be scared to death to mess with the registry, but blessed with a good memory. I thought scanreg may be only for Win98 and ME, so I played at Microsoft.com (good ol' search bar) and MAYBE found what I thought replaced it---regedit.exe?? Also thanks to my XPDummies book (page 56!) , found ChkDsk, which checks for errors on hard drive. Double check at Microsoft.com and again, let an expert confirm this!! With it working in safemode, do anything new or updates lately (thinking AV)??Liz

    Good Grief...!

Geez. I was originally an education major in college and then a retail worker-- the main reason why teachers and salespeople use red pens in the first place--red pens don't get swiped as quickly!! Liz
  25. Plain old fashioned Email for me Is it true that Gmail increased their storage space?
