  1. Well thanks to Arachnid's Design and Robroy's Instructions, I have a really cool CUSTOM desktop! Oh, and I forgot to post earlier, due to being uh...a little excited, Arachnid, I love it! And I can't wait for the kids to see it I'd post it but---just click the "For Blim" link (Yeah, I don't know how to post desktops, either, but that's ok, I don't need to know yet. Still trying to get links done right!) Liz
  2. Hi Jimras, What did you do about the Kernel Thing??? Paranoid Minds want to know Thanks, Liz
  3. Hi Macmarauder, So it IS your fault. Holy Cow, every time I walk outside I get an ice cream headache. It's freezing! Thanks to the 40 mph winds the snow blew past us, though, so that's good. Even Bozodog only has about an inch--Son was in Kazoo last night. But Geez the windchills are in the low teens and it goes right through you! Hi Sidekickcat, Yeah! Go with the redbud....in fact with Oregon being warmer, it will have a better chance of survival. or a magnolia? (they are stunning this year more than most, the early warmup must have brought them out nicely) Oh and a Blessed Passover
  4. Thanks Sidekickcat, You solved what I was doing wrong with erasing the extra http in the box! I kept getting 2 https in a row and I KNEW that wasn't right (and proved it by it not working!) Thank you! Jimras, How's the dilemma going??? Liz
  5. Hi Arachnid!! Wow!!! That is so cool! Thank you, thank you, thank you I feel like a kid at Christmas! Now, how do I get that onto my desktop? (kindergarten tech level here) Son knows how to do this but I want to do this myself and surprise the kids when they turn the idiot box on.(at least make them groan, "Ohhhhh Mom...") Heeheehee... I'm so excited Thanks again! Liz
  6. Harry Potter!!!! Oh, wait, LOTR!!!! ....uhhhh...., oh crap. sigh. Magic
  7. Hi Robroy, That's why I got the kids cheapo Tracfones And that is a hilarious story!!! Wish we had Fire Brigades here in the States, Fire Department doesn't sound nearly as exciting as a Brigade!! Liz
  8. Hi Jimras, Have you googled the KernelFaultCheck? I did to see what it was and there were directions to disable it----but is this process turning off a part of Windows that may be important???? The "Disclaimer" paragraph sounds scary and I didn't understand the bottom paragraph at all!! I'm preparing for SP2 as soon as Son is through with school and am looking for potential problems ('cause they'll probably happen to me!) so if you could keep us posted on your tweaking, this chicken would appreciate it! From Google: (I still haven't quite conquered links by myself) "N kernelfaultcheck dum

Echobay, thanks for the warning. Oooh, I can see a LOT of upset kids!!! Thank goodness mine don't have the desire or the gadgets to copy DVDs (knocks wood) Hmmmm, wonder if the RIAA knows about this?!? They may be desperate enough to use it...Liz
  11. I know you have to keep reminding yourself with a 2 year old....just wait till your oldest turns 13 (2 year old with a full vocabulary and muscles, but its temporary) Miracles
  12. Hi Sidekickcat, Nice link on the accent trees!! Thank you. Learned a lot about Redbud. My sister brought me six from KY 5 years ago, where they grow wild. Got one to survive our winters (not really a cold weather plant--not even available to purchase up here) Finally bloomed last year and looks to bloom again this year....."my Kentucky Baby" The snow stopped!! At least so far anyways, (thank you Mac) but the wind is howling. Kinda late due to attending Son's indoor soccergame (never saw so many "cards" in one game, it was dirty but they won, and Son played clean), but Friday Night Pizza B
  13. Hi Handplane, Well what was going through my mind started with the word smart.....but maybe that word is not very appropriate for a forum. Right now I don't like Mother Nature But it is a compliment to your quick wit! Liz And..........its snowing
  14. Thanks Marty, This gave me a good laugh, too. Ahhh, the wisdom of children! Liz
  15. Hi Bozodog, Where do you live? I'm in Montague (1/2 hour North of Muskegon on the lake). I heard south and east of us were going to get slammed with the white crap--usually its us lakeside northerers that get blasted. We're supposed to get 1-3. I sure hope it stays at WATCH, not WARNING. I agree, it STINKS, especially after the couple weeks of beautiful weather. Ooooh, see folks, I'm not the only one bellyaching about Michigan weather!! Son is coaching and refereeing Soccer games all day Saturday, and reffing 3 more games on Sunday. At least his sunburnt nose from last weekend won't get
  16. Hi Handplane, Yes that picture does look like Shadblow, although the pic looks like an old scraggly one..I googled "Service Berry" and the botanical name isn't the same so don't eat the berries if you have one near you. Don't want you getting sick! Waves hello to the lurkers, too--be brave, come join us, Macmarauder is harmless--took me a long time but worth signing up! "Boys night" at the house, so tonights special is spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. Teenaged boys always seem to know when I go grocery shopping. Dog is getting lots of playtime with the ball (boys like to play rough! Yi
  17. Hi Flatiron and Tg, Thanks for all the links!! Been looking through them as I get time---there's a lot to learn. pretty soon Son will be done with school and I can kick him off the idiot box if he's playing games Liz
  18. Hi Sidekickcat (and anyone else who is curious ) A Shadblow tree is also called a Shad Tree, Shadbark, Service Berry or Juneberry (thanks to a recent article in the paper!). It looks like a wild cherry tree (medium sized tree with white blossoms) but blooms earlier and instead of the blossoms being small and in clusters, the blossoms are about the size of a forsythia blossom and spread throughout the tree. When the blossoms are "done" and the wind blows, it looks like its snowing (I don't particularly like that reminder!). It gets red-violet berries which the birds love, guess humans can ea
  19. Vile_Dr, I think the same can be said about mothers!! (although I DO say, like Mary Poppins, "I'm practically perfect in every way") And get started on that book, you have a gift! All this talk about cleaning basements--nothing works like an overflowing water heater---ugh!--summer before last, the water heater flooded, the washer overflowed and the toilet did a Niagra Falls impersonation all in the span of 2 weeks! At least with the basement, I declared a Family Emergency and made the whole gang help clean up I make Christmas wreaths for my Florida and Arizona relatives (expensive and stal

Hi Echobay, Thanks for the warning! --forwarding info to Son's girlfriend--her computer is a Virus Magnet. Sigh....my kids get so tired of me saying "Don't open any attachments until you confirm with the sender that it is legit!!!" I'm a broken record sometimes.... Liz
  21. Hi All, Lots of great things to try--I apologize for not keeping up with this thread, although I have been reading your helpful answers....Son has been hogging the idiot box for end of school year stuff, and I have only been online for a few minutes a day--but soon I HOPE to dive into the Spring Cleanup again--he only has one week left of school! Robroy--your answer led me to another question. When Disk Cleanup stuck, Son said, "well I can do that anyways" and cleaned out the temp internet files, temp files, cookies (recycle bin was already empty) and announced that was the same as Disk Cle
  22. Like I always say when folks cautiously tell "Religious Jokes", It's obvious that God has a great sense of humor!! *hint* think sweets, shoes and remember to say those magic words, "I'm sorry, you're right". First step to have her on your side! Boy this place gets busy between midnight and 3 am (MI time) Gives me my first laugh of the day Off to clean the cottage.... Liz
  23. We have ghosts!! Son used to talk to a civil war soldier when he was a toddler, and we have cold spots, unexplained floral scents, shadows and the dog watches em. They're friendly, though! Do you believe in ESP?
