  1. Hi Vile, First of all, don't buy the book, get it from the library for free (wasn't sure which method of ordering on the internet you were talking about--I know some library systems let you order on the net) From what I understand, (but haven't read it yet!) the DaVinci Code has to do with hidden symbols in Renaissance works of art (like the person to the right of Jesus Christ in Davinci's Last Supper that is "supposed" to be John, but sure looks like a girl--perhaps Mary Magdeline--I ALWAYS thought it was Mary M, to the dismay of my professors.) and the Holy Grail. We have always known the Ho

So was your horse "stuck" in last place? You reminded me--my sister has horses and one is a real stinkpot--she changed his name to Elmer. I'm not kidding, either!! Liz
  3. Hi Macmarauder! I started watching TSS for the education, although CFH was more my speed, a LOT of TSS went over my head--but every once in a while I was sitting in front of the TV, writing notes (I learned to have pen and paper handy for those 2 shows!) But the blend of "characters" were endearing--Patrick with his quiet knowledge (and his kilt), Leo was sometimes the "pompous knowitall", Kevin was the naughty one, and Dan was the "little brother",---and Sarah tried to keep them all in line. I think that cast was what gave this show its appeal, as it started going downhill when the group dyn

  5. Hi Sidekickcat, I'm positive that Ruth Stout was from Vermont, or New England anyways!. I'd check, but I lent my book to a friend over a year ago--she must really like it She was one of the "pioneer mulchers". One of her best tips was to bury kitchen garbage (no meat!) between the plants in the vegetable garden, for folks who didn't have room or the desire for a compost pile. In my 365 Days book, she's quoted (I have it bookmarked for a Calligraphy piece I'm going to make...one of these days!) "No poet I've heard of has written an ode to a load of manure. Somebody should, and I'm not try
  6. Just another reason I trust my file cabinet over the computer with "valuable information" WASHINGTON Computer users already anxious about viruses and identity theft have a new reason to worry: Hackers have found a way to lock up the electronic documents on your computer and then demand $200 to get them back. Security researchers at San Diego-based Websense Inc. uncovered the unusual extortion plot when a corporate customer they would not identify fell victim to the infection, which encrypted files that included documents, photographs and spreadsheets. A ransom note left behind included an e-m
  7. Hi Vile, From what I have read and been told (even from the dealership mechanic!), the oil thing is a glitch with the "early model Saturns", which has since been fixed in the later models--and adding to that yes, he does drive the shizzle out of it and it has 190,000 miles on it! Bought it in 2001 for $2500 as a "grocery getter" for me, then sold it to Son (we're Mean Old Parents who don't buy their kids new cars when they start driving!!)---I'm surprised the car has lasted this long--I AM going to have the boys check that stuff, though!! For some reason, Son's friends happily do any "chore"

Macmarauder, you should apply--it could be a stepping stone to creating a Tech Show on some other network--it sure couldn't hurt! I haven't watched "TSS" since, gosh, its been forever...haven't seen a single episode of the "new show". I remember shortly after they hired Kevin P, I was trying to watch it, son walked in and said, "this s*cks--what happened to the Geeks?" And he is their "target audience" Ha! Liz

For the oldtimers (assuming its true, his Website "errored" so can't confirm) Copy, paste.... Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After several weeks of lawyer negotations with G4, they have agreed to release me from my contract. Friday May 27th 2005 marks my last day on the G4 network. I’m leaving G4 so that I can focus on what I love most, in-depth tech content. Liz
  10. I agree, Marty, even though the "lovable bunch of nuts" who frequent this entire forum usually write something to make me laugh every day, this Comedy Forum sure is a great outlet (and I have something interesting to email my sisters)!!! Liz
  11. You have my respect.......and my sympathy! Let's never introduce them, ok?? Liz
  12. I vary my techniques, too, depending on the mood and whether I'm "sneaking" them or eating them outright (but definitely don't dunk)...I guess I am one sick pup!! Ooooooh, Macaroons..... Thanks, Marty! Liz
  13. Robroy, I think your son and my son think a lot alike (which actually makes me feel sorry for you, mine is a percussionist/soccerplayer/morrisdancer, he's triple doomed)!!! Liz
  14. Ha!!! got 'em all!! (except I had to use pencil and paper for the math question as I'm too lousy at math attempt that in my head). Not demented yet, I gotta tell my kids!! (copy, paste, email and thanks!) Liz
  15. Oh, Geez.......actually maybe that could get my husband to take over the lawn mowing duties...hmmmmmm Liz
  16. Thanks, Chappy!! I read your post to my son who replied, "MOM, I know better than to respond to an email from Microsoft concerning updates!!" Phew........what a relief that he said that--sometimes Soccerplayers can be kinda clueless, too many shots to the head I guess Thanks again, Liz
  17. Well, I think you present and future WARRIORS are absolute Godsends!! Thank you so much for volunteering your expertise--you folks truly represent an unselfish labor of love. Liz
  18. Sidekickcat, what a good neighbor you and Hubby are!!! Especially putting the neighbor's yard before your own. For the Subaru, I agree, drive it till it dies, except for the coolant thing, you might want to investigate that since I think coolant's corrosive and could spring a major leak and strand you--BUT, the car experts (Mac, Vile,Pierce and others have had quite the cartalk "on the web") could really set you straight. Son's Saturn burns a qt of oil a week (because it's a Saturn!) and we just check it every Friday--the gas mileage offsets the 2 bucks for oil! The city decided to turn of
  19. heeheehee, everytime Son does something stupid, Hubby blames the mailman.... And a very well told joke, Echobay---I can't REMEMBER jokes to save my life! Liz
  20. Bah, insurance!!! No offense to anyone in the industry, I used to work for an insurance company, but it sure is a racket! You have to have it to register a car or carry a mortgage, yet we pay more car insurance to accomadate the uninsured drivers and nowadays, if you make a claim on your homeowners, they likely will cancel you!!! I cracked a car up and filed a claim ("my" fault because I was driving down a main street at 1pm and there was a foot of snow on the street and I swerved to avoid someone fishtailing...it wouldn't have been my fault if I hit the other car instead of a telephone
  21. heh, heh, I thought of Mac, too, only he would use laser beams or wormholes instead of simple radio waves Spent a beautiful weekend inside altering a "adopted teenager's" dress for graduation and today I'm taking my 80 year old friend to her hip doctor. All I want to do is go outside and play in the dirt! Gardens are sandboxes for grownups Vile, I'll have to let the kids know the movie is good. I haven't watched any of the new ones but they have (in fact its been forever since I've been to the theatre, I just wait till they're on tv...). Sidekickcat, still working on those links, they're a
