  1. I would have to think that most libraries would disable as many controls as possible to prevent people from mucking up the system. Plus policies will differ from place to place. Most cell phones do text and email nowadays. I bought my phone at Walmart for $50 and pay-as-you-go for minutes. I got to admit though, using the keypad is a pain in the butt instead of a keyboard Mark

    Het, Marty

Marty, Friends of yours? WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — A middle-aged New Zealand woman rang police to report a theft of cannabis plants she had been growing at her North Island home, local media reported. The crying woman told a constable at the police station in the city of Napier the plant theft was the fourth from her property in as many years. The 45-year-old woman, who was not named, lamented someone had again sneaked on to her property at night to steal her three carefully nurtured marijuana plants. "I am a good person. I am sick of these low-lifes stealing my things," the woman tol
  3. Well it looks like it's going to have to wait awhile. I went to plug the new IDE cable to the motherboard and discovered the heatsink retention base broke with the heatsink flopping on the board. I'm surprised it didn't fry the CPU. That was a waste of a beautiful day Mark

    Bikers

Rush hour here is like any other major city. Literally bumper to bumper at 65/70 mph. You name it I've seen them do it. Shaving, combing hair, putting on make- up, eating a bowl of cereal, etc. The scariest one was this big old Cadillac going 70 mph, not 3 feet from the car in front of him. He had a newspaper opened up, resting on the dash, over the steering wheel, Reading the darn thing Mark
  5. Got that done. Getting ready to load XP as we speak. I know I'm answering 1/2 my questions. It's just you read so many horror stories, I need to be reassured that I can't screw it up I'm leaving the 2nd HD disconnected until everything is in place. Hope that's OK Mark
  6. One more dumb question. After I install and partition the drive will the computer re-assign all the drive letters or will I have to do that manually? Thanks Mark
  7. I don't use one but I Googled "track bandwidth usage" and got a lot of hits for different apps. Mark
  8. The key generator at my digital life found 4 of them. My daughter found 3. I got one to go. I tried about 4 different ones. I'll try Belarc in a while. At least I got her to start cleaning up some Mark
  9. Thanks guys, figured it out and it's in the process of transfering now. Would moving the games be the same process? Mark
  10. OK, another simple question. I have her important stuff backed up to CD except for her Sims backup files. That's 3 friggin Gigs. The computer has a 2nd hard drive, 13 gig. It's empty and XP recognizes the drive. How do I put My Documents on that drive? When I right click and select "send to", I'm not offered that option. I also might have to transfer everything related to Simms on that drive because I can't find the product keys to reinstall those games. The file and transfer wizard doesn't seem to be the ticket Mark
  11. There were alot of debates about some of his tweeks Mark
  12. I'm installing a 100 gig ATA hard drive on my daughter's computer. They're using XP. All they do is email, websurf, store pictures, and play Sims. It will never be a dual-boot. My question is why partition the drive? If the drive goes bad, it will damage both partitions anyways, Won't it? Mark
  13. I'd say about close to 1/2 the US agrees with you. The one thing here that's sure to start an argument is talking about politics. Religion gets a lot of people riled up also Mark
  14. Yeah, I'm more of a hardware guy than rooting around in the registry and so on. I know just enough to know I don't know enough Mark
  15. So does TM 2006, but after that runs I;;l run Ewido and still come up with stuff. Mark
  16. They're both XP Pro full installs. I installed it for them. The mistake I made was giving it back to them. I've been yelling at this kid to put things away since she could walk. With a baby on the way, she finaly realized she'd better get her house in order. The problem is she doesn't remember where she put everything. Mark
  17. I'm stuck on stupid and getting ready to call it a night. The hard drive's going south quickly on my daughter's computer. I was hoping to do a fresh install of XP Pro on the new drive I'm going to get. So far they haven't found their disk. I do have their XP key written down in my records. Can I use my copy of XP Pro with their key? Mark
  18. What about MS Office? I don't care about Outlook but maybe other apps. if applicable. Any extra thing you have to do? Mark
  19. At least he's wearing Safety Orange Mark
  20. Maybe with Dell and HP getting into the mix we'll have a better selection of drivers available Mark
  21. I'm assuming it does. Remember back in the day with 95 & 98 the CDROM drivers were on the bootdisk? You don't have to load them anymore. I'm dealing with a machine right now where I can't get any drive to work. Luckily the chip's removable so I could send it out to get flashed Mark
  22. Oh to be young and single again. I could SUGGEST to my dear wife that it would be benificial that I replace my CRT with a 22" flatscreen monitor and replace my trashed CD burner with a DVD one, but all I get is a blank stare. Then she mentions something about unpaid bills and grandkids on the way "SIGH" Mark
  23. Is this a Windows screensaver or one you downloaded? Try a different one and see if it still happens. You also might try turning the screensaver off and see if that makes a difference. I personally don't use one, I just turn my monitor off. Have you downloaded any new programs recently? Also, what do you have your power options set at? Mark

Most all of Europe is not a disposable society. They recycle and reuse almost everything including old houses. Their building codes are also a lot more strict Mark
