Hard Drive Recognition In Bios
garmanma replied to garmanma's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I dug up this old thread to let you know of a possible solution. A guy over at Bleeping Computer was having the exact same problem. After doing everything that was suggested, he decided what the heck and put the jumper on the 2 pins that showed no configuration on the jumper diagram on the drive and it worked. Don't know why, but it's something else to try before you pitch it if you ever run into this problem. Unfortunately I got rid of mine( lightning strike) so I can't try it to verify Mark -

You can easily turn your computer into a doorstop with a bad flash. If your computer has no issues, why bother? Some motherboards have a removable BIOS chip. I had one I sent out. Cost 20 bucks Mark

Some motherboards BIOS will allow you to specify the amount of RAM to allocate for your video processor. You might have a look there. I would still up the memory Mark

How to register a .dll How to use scannow sfc... To do this simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in: sfc /scannow This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem. It may prompt you for the XP CD Mark -

The program he's referring to is IC Solutions. It comes on it's own CD. Here's his problem: "I tried to install it in safe mode but I get the same errors. First it says data base upgrade failed. then it says microsoft mshtml.dll.registration failed, then when i tried to autorun it I got the error a device attached to the system is not functioning. c:\documentsandsettings \owner\desktop\ICSv7.21(E)\setup.exe. No post beep = no good. Did you try it out before you bought it? Maybe in the move, you knock something loose. Does the power supply fan spin? The CPU fan? Mark -
I do have a technical backround, which might give me a little head start, but I learned the way most everyone here has. You have a problem and you search for solutions. If you continue to read other's problems and solutions you start to get a knack on how to fix it. It's a good feeling when someone asks a question and you're able to help them. That's the whole purpose of a forum such as this. Mark

That's no tech, it was me. Trying to help him with a problem and there is a indication that it could be malware related. I recommended here because I think we have the better HJT groups around. Mark

I've made 3 purchases from people with storefronts on eBay with good results, but I do check them out. I see to much of a chance to get screwed from an individual. Example: a guy on another forum thought he got a great deal on a flat screen monitor until he went to hook it up. He found out it was an early model (though well sought after) and needed a special card or pass-thru device to work. Of course it hasn't been made in 7 years and the price for one is 3 times the amount of what he paid for the monitor. He contacted the seller and he said he was only selling the monitor but he did have t
