The Random Randomness Thread Of Randomtivity

My cat is a mouse notifier cat, she just tells me when there are mice to be dealt with, she says she does her part and the rest is up to us. Ha! Yes the sill to foundation is another possibility. By the way, in earthquake country the advice is to use special bolts to fasten the two together so house doesn't move off the foundation. Now is code in many areas. We haven't done it, way to many other projects ahead of it, though I do have my water heater seat belt bolted to a huge post in basement. Yes I said seat belted. Took out a built-in dinette in motorhome years ago, didn't need 4 seat belts -
Wow that study amazes me!!! I would like to have a Christian Dr, and I am sure there are some at Kaiser, but it is against the rules for patients to ask directly also not on record at membership services, or for Drs to say. (Though you can tell about some by their reactions to what you say.) Current Dr, who will not continue to be my Dr if I can find another one, looked at me like I was a specimen under a microscope when she took my history and asked how the fibromyalgia was...so I told her...ha! Of course she said all the 'right' things, but the look on her face and her body language said ot

Thanks for the info about ants being meat lovers. I didn't know that, though these also like yogurt!!! They treked from counter top to garbage pail just to feast on empty yogurt carton residue. Hard to get them out of that step on can. Sprayed vinegar whenever we emptied it, after washing it down with dawn. Finally that worked plus getting hubby to put the inner foil seal inside yogurt container and put lid on tight, (he has got the part of washing them out first! )! Sigh! I hadn't thought about using Boric Acid powder. Yes I bet that would work. I put it (dry) into the corners of cupboards -
Hello Barb, I just found out this week the new updater thing with Microsoft has that nice feature to pick up where it left off. (I was reading the info before I downloaded the updates to the updater that installed itself sometime, though I much prefer to do these things on my own!!!) But that is sure a nice feature to not lose the part of update you did get. There is a huge (31+MB I think) "roundup" package to my Windows 2000 that is estimated to be 4 to 5 hours on my slow dial-up. My isp cuts me off at 4 hours and has been freeze crashing computer when it does. So I think even with the new f

Poor Liz, mouse is never a singular noun. So get traps, get son to set them all over the place. Good luck!!! Old houses seem to have plenty of places for them to squeeze through. Try to seal around the main entrance water pipe too as that, plus gas lines, is a common mouse entrance. Remember the problems we had this spring? I sure hope no more come in for winter. Plus this summer we've had little tiny itsy bitsy ants on two different counter tops off and on. I think they came in with some sacks of groceries we set on countertop, as far as we could remember what we did just before they arrive -
I was at the beauty shop the other day waiting to get my haircut so was reading their magazines. Found an article in the July 12, 05 issue of Family Circle that you might be interested in. It was about "surprising remedies from your spice rack" titled "Can Oregano prevent cancer?" pg77 (also oregano seems to be good at fighting staph infections in mice as well as vancomycin with it's antibiotic and antifungal properties, for anyone needing that info). But the reason I am writing this to you tjet, is that the spice Ginger is suppossed to be almost as good as Celebrex and Viox for arthritis pai

Sounds like those cukes were great! I had an unknown kind of green peper one time that was the best I've ever eaten. Sure wish I knew what it was...sweet at all stages, early too, and ripen to red fast and even sweeter then, good fresh or frozen, and good producer. I have tried lots of plants, and seeds since but never found it's equal. Of course home improvement store had no idea of name or even what nursery. Sigh! Only a few root crops work for me even after all the compost and mulch I've added over the years to make this clay soil productive to more than just weeds. I can do potatoes, sunc

Congratulations on the job. What a relief it is when something you want works out. May your bosses be always pleased with your work, and your co-workers glad to have you working with them. Pat God bless everyone.

Wow!!! Congratulations to that dear lady for taking care of family business!!! We need more people like her to prove to these lowlife perverts that they will pay the price one way or another for their evil deeds. I really do think that it will take alot of vigilantes to bring society back to actually dealing with the creeps that prey on others. I really don't see it happening otherwise, at least not unless all the bleeding hearts who think criminals have more rights than victims have alot of bad stuff happen to them. Funny how having something happen to own household and family changes a per

Hello everybody! Long time no see! Well actually I've been back, here and there, just not posting much. Still trying to catch up on boards whenever this cantankerous computer and my crash-minded isp give me a chance. Any Dr Pepper around? Seem to have a craving for it lately. Though still do my coffee pot and a half of Yuban nearly every day. I see everyone has been busy with summer special projects, vacations, etc. And now Liz is trying to shove her kids off to school early....haha! Good sign the summer is winding down when parents get to that point. I picked my first tomatoes (Early Girl)

Hi everybody, Just caught up to date on this thread finally. Gas here nearest station today 2.45 down from 2.48 last week. I agree with whoever said awhile back that they are reestablishing base prices by raising then lowering but not all the way prices. Prediction from head of Oregon gas dealers ass (my new favorite abbreviation btw) is for $3 by Holidays. Probably will go higher then drop to where "they" want it to settle out at $3. Sure glad our old (1990) Subaru Justy gets great gas milage, about 35mpg winter, summer a mile or two more. I dread taking the motorhome out for our fall vacati

I love you all. (I hope that's what that emoticon means...I'm a newbie at most emoticon language!) Thanks so much for caring about me folks. I still am near tears at what a great bunch of people you all are, and how nice you've been to me. As for the air conditioner (off probably for rest of predicted cooler week), it's about 7 feet across the room and facing the bedroom/computer room door where I use a Vornado fan to pull the cold air towards living room. But the only place I can have my computer desk setup is right next to the door, hence it would blow almost directly at me if I had it o -

Hey I'm here doesn't that make the equation a little more even? You geeks, and me to computer ignorant to even know how to ask the right questions. So I try to learn from everyone else's help me threads, and still my computer throws me odd ball problems that make no sense at all. Sigh. Yes it would be nice to see Goliath over here, though I'm glad he's back on G4 at least. I remember hearing about him, and maybe even saw some posts of his in my early days on TTV boards, but definitely his reputation of helping others stands tall and he sounds like a great person for any board to have. God bles

Mike, I am so sorry for the terrible loss in your family. How tragic to lose someone you care about like that. I will certainly be praying for all of you to get through this awful time. I could cry over all the killings and other evil stuff that seems to be so rampant in today's society. It seems like every part of our country has the same type of thing happening. I agree that things need to change, and that the crime perpetrators need to be more severly punished, not just back out on the street right after booking, so they can continue their evil ways. Frankly the idea of bringing back the s

God bless you all for caring about me. Made me cry a bit when I read this wonderful thread, and yes it was right at the top of my view new posts (I have some 24 pages to catch up on). I have answered some email and PMs. So that took awhile to get to here to reply. I will update people a bit by copying ( to save a bit of time on my dialup isp usage) what I replied today, to Chappy's email. I hope that is ok? Quote: Thanks so much for your (and the Besttechie bunch) concern for my hubby and I. It is so nice to be warmly thought of and missed. Thank you so much. This is my first day back on the -
Welcome to the fourms, I'm sure you'll love it here! If you get a chance, check out the chat (a link is in the upper right corner) Matt <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thank you for the lookout Matt, but I don't use chat other than IM with freinds and family. My hands are too busted up and the arthritus chews on me so on most days I type with one or two fingers. Much too slow for chat. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Glad to see you over here, best boards around. Have you ever tried MSM for arthritis pain? It is a natural sulfur substance, developed by Dr Stanley Jacobs at the Oregon Health Sciences

Hello everyone, No I didn't forget where the computer was, though how to use it at times is a complete mystery!!! How come things that have been working fine for ages just decide not to work one day? I couldn't make my dialup connection connect today! No rhyme nor reason, it just didn't. So called tech support, and did what the menu said, which it had already been set to do, but redid it, and sure enough the thing worked right even though it was set the exact same way. Wierd. The reason I haven't been around here is weather again!!! I have been offline, and unplugged, for about a week now d

Hello everyone. I feel so blessed by all of you!!! Tears of happiness in my eyes to know I have so many friends here!!! Here is an extra God bless each and everyone of you folks!!! So nice to know folks like my sign off blessing!!! So many things I wanted to comment on, but now I am to emotional to think what it was I was going to say and about what... The tail end of that tropical depression that was headed our way, seems to have veered south abit. So we will get only showers instead of steady downpour, or so the noon news said, which is fine with me as long as it's not thundershowers!!!

Adding my prayers too. I hope and pray for a complete healing for Keith's Dad, and for God's comfort to Keith and the rest of the family during all this. God bless everyone.

Tsunami Warning Last Night...after Quake
thesidekickcat replied to thesidekickcat's topic in Open Chat
Nope we are a hundred miles from the coast, with a small mountain range in between. But we do go to the beach at least once a year. Usually park the motorhome in Cape Disappointment state park in SW Washington (Ilwaco) right next to the ocean beach. So it has a very narrow, steep, road to high ground, no phone at that end of campground which is a mile of so from park ranger station. No cell phone service there either. So sitting ducks, unless anyone would feel the earth shaking to know there was trouble. So we leave it all in God's hands to protect us, and provide for all our needs there and -
Hi folks, Yes I am back, and I thank you all for your kind thoughts, your PM's, and tips to help me. Bless you all. Fotunately things seem a bit better on boards, at least in some areas such as the type in View New Posts seems clearer than in the index to forums. Also the reply etc buttons are easier to see. Still having trouble in some areas though. Have done a couple of new threads, and added a couple of posts, testing the waters so to speak. So far so good on that. Still squinting on other things though. I just now realized that tg's doing "blim" in blue, was a link, thought things were re

Liquid...sunshine (we have another rain storm coming in tonight, remnants of a tropical depression...it's depressing alright.) God bless everyone.

Sure am glad the 7.0 quake off of Northern California coast about 7:50 last night, wasn't a bad subduction fault one. And that it didn't do any tsunami waves. The alert was for entire West Coast for a possible tsunami. The paper today said the warning was lifted at 9:09 and some news reports said an hour or two later. Unfortunately the warnings didn't get to all the people on the coast, not even in all the towns. Some areas don't have sirens, some have nonworking ones, some don't even think there is a potential problem it seems from news reports quoting various town/county government people to
