Im trying to upgrade my computer to the max my motherboard can handle. I hope to eventually get Vista on this computer and then not have to put any more money into it for 5 years or so. (or as long as i can) My motherboard is an Intel D865perl. Its max ram is 4gigs. I have 1280megabytes. Its max CPU is the 3.4ghz Pentium 4 Extreme Edition. I have a P4 2.6ghz Northwood Now, would 4 gigs of ram be overkill for a 3.4ghzEE? Im thinking more like, two.. Any opinions on the Extreme Edition? Im sure you already know this, but just incase... Make sure your not using MSCONFIG as a bootloader. That'll cause crashes everytime

Alright, Ive got a Windows (XP) and Linux (Mandriva) boxes hooked to the same router. I need them to talk to each other so I can share files and printers. But so far they are at a stand off. LOL! Found out its a "nf4k8mc" with an Athlon 64 3200. Ive tried XP also. Got to "finalizing" and blue screened. I think I may have found teh problem. I took out one of the stick of ram (it had two 512mb kingstons) and Mandriva is installing fine... I took the stick back for a new one... installed new one... no worky worky... took it out... Mandriva is installing. THe mobo supports 2jigglywatts of ram, so im not maxing it out or anything. Seems to have a problem with this ram for some reason?

Maybe try some of the linux live CDs like Ubuntu, Mandriva One and see if they detect the hardware in the computer. I don't follow. Why "detect" the hardware?

Alright, I dont know the full history of this problem, so Ill state what I do know. PC user said he had trouble booting into windows. It would restart before loading windows(but would eventually work). I backed up the data on the harddrive at this point. A week later the computer would not boot at all. I tried to install vista, but without luck. Vista would either freeze at various times, or give mutliple blue screens. Ok then... Hardware problem right? Replaced the harddrive and ram. Still having this problem! Only things left to replace are videocard, motherboard, and DVD drive. Im thinking

Jdoors, acetone is already in your gas, thsi just increases the level.

Acetone IS safe to use. I did quite a bit of research on the issue after hearing it for the first time. The worst that could happen is it ruining the filler neck going to your gas tank. To solve that simply put in the acetone, then fill your tank with gas. This washes the acetone down. A common mixture is 2-4oz per 10 gallons.

Im surprised E15/E10 is being used that far south. You should try adding some Acetone into the tank. Help vaporize that fuel a bit better.

How much money are we lookign at here? Do we get a discount for using Linux instead of Windows? If not, Id rather order a computer with Windows, if nothing else than for the License, then install Linux myself.

Right now desiel is what, $0.60 cheaper than gas? Plus a small deisel in a truck could produce car like MPG results. I sure hope Ford doesnt screw this up.

ALrighty,i did something stupid. I turned the truck over today. Me and a few friends were doing stupid crap on some dry, dirt back roads. The rear tire went off into a drainage rut going around a turn and things just went down hill from there. It ended up on its side in the middle of the road. Thankfully I got someone with a tractor to turn me back over. Other than a busted mirror and tail light, you really cant tell anything happened. Truck is still going strong. Damn I love my Ford BTW, this is what old beaters are for

Everest will tell you the ins and outs of your computer. But! Just for the basic specs you can just type the name and model into google (assuming its not home built). Also go to Control Panel > System, for CPU & ram, then right lick the desktop > "Properties" > Advanced, for your video card
