hi team ive just recieved the ubuntu.10 as i use an old compt to test these ubuntu disks i find the sys wont install and that happened with ubuntu.8.05 i only presume it may be the problem is with my not having enough ram 512 megs up until now all ubuntu and kubuntu have installed ok but with the higher specs my sys freezes in particular the mouse curser i have a compt with higher specs but i have vista installed on it and tho i dont like vista i spent to much money on the sys and as ime not sure how to partition that drive i may corrupte vista tho i like ubuntu i have to weigh up my op

wouldnt it be exciting to see steam cars when i was a young boy several of these cars where on the road but as oil became plentifull they were taken off the road and now we got these cars costing many thousands of dollars but soon there will be no fuel to run them other energy like ethernol we have a tree here in nz that produces alchohol the indigeonous race used to drink it and get pissed it was the sap they drank some man experemented with it to power motor cycles and it was a success but the forest these trees came fromwont last forever so it was abandoned i tried it as a drink

i agree with bubba bob to produce your own energy saves invading othere countrys for their oil sure the cost will be higher but do you have any other alternative we are worse of in nz as we dont produce any oil and have to import all our energy source from other countrys as we are to small to invade other countrys we have been experementing with other fuel sources for several years and one is this algae which has in fested many of our rivers for some years the down side is will it compensate all those people who lose their jobs with in the oil secter and related spinoffs related to t

i have bartpe but it dosent work with vista it keeps giving me an error message so if the poster is using vista make sure it is servicable if it is xp it works great marty

make sure all the hard ware cards are seated properly i had the trouble when my ehternet card wasnt sitting in the slot properly and it was several days before i found the trouble by taking the hard ware out and reseating them one by one this is only one reason has the hdd been pinned properly go to control panel sys start and recovery and see if the box automatic restart is checked if not check it then restart your comp if the compt keeps restarting then i suggest you may have a hard ware problem ram hdd cards ect good luck marty

hi team i need your help i cant get ubuntu sound to work i presume i need to install a package from package archive there is nothing wrong with the speakers as xp has sound through them nor the connection when i first installed ubuntu was was getting test beeps from the sound option but i cannot get sound any more ive installed the alsa player but no sound i have a feeling it is driver trouble so far ive used ubuntu with out sound but now i need to try and utilise the sys a bit more thanks marty
