There are programs out there that you can download that will do this for you. Motherboard Monitor is one that I've used. It's free, too http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=311 Jim

You might want to consider putting in a fan that could blow on your heatsink and even getting a better heatsink, as well. Here is a link to the one that I use. http://www.apexsys.net/images/flower_cooler.gif

Gee...I use Firefox and when I log in, I get a chance to check the box that says "keep me logged in" or something along that line so I only have to log in once. Jim

Hi Marty I had the same thing and I figure it is because the drive is formatted in a way that Windows won't recognize. I WAS able to delete the partition using disk management but then the Linux files were all lost. Sorry I can't be of help but I thought I'd give you my observations so you know that you're not the only one to have this problem. Jim

I have used Linksys wired and wireless routers and they performed well for me. I am currently using a D-link and that has worked just great, too. I think any of the 4 port wired routers will work just fine for what you want. Good luck. Jim

Ooohhhhh I got six!!

Hi Marty Glad to hear that you got it up and running. I was wondering why you want to run such an old version of Windows in the first place? There isn't much security in that program and almost (as you've found out ) no support for it, either. Just curious........... Jim

A teacher noticed that a little boy at the back of the class was squirming around, scratching his crotch, and not paying attention. She went back to find out what was going on. He was quite embarrassed and whispered that he had just recently been circumcised and he was quite itchy. The teacher told him to go down to the principal's office. He was to telephone his mother and ask her what he should do about it. He did it and returned to his class. Suddenly, there was a commotion at the back of the room. She went back to investigate only to find him sitting at his desk with his thingy hanging

Gee, I remember those days. Windows 3.1 ran llike a program and not an operating system, The commands to start 3.1 were: at the c:> prompt cd windows (or change to whatever directory it was in) win most people at that time made a little batch file to start it if you didn't have a menu program that would do it for you. I might have a set of disks for 3.1 around somewhere if you find that you have a corrupted file. Jim

I'm glad I could share my experience and have others benifit from it, too I should have mentioned that I WAS running a dual boot and to get rid of that, I put the XP disc into the CD and booted from that and then ran the repair console. Then I did the (I think) FIXMBR program which re-writes the MBR on my C drive. Now XP boots up without the choice to start Linux. Thanks again, everyone!!! Jim

I actually went to the disk management program and found that it could see the drive so I deleted the partition and then I reformatted it to NTFS and now everything is fine. Thanks for all the advise, everybody!!! jr

I have a HD that was used for Linux and Windows doesn't "see" it when I open Explorer. I was running a dual boot with XP on one drive and Linux on the other. I would like to use the drive again with XP. How can I get Windows to see it so I can format it back to NTFS? One thought that I had was unplug the drive with XP on it so that this Linux drive was the only one hooked up in the computer and then put the Windows XP CD in the CD drive and turn the computer on. Would this work? I would welcome any help that you experts might be able to offer.

I am running Mandrake 10.1 with the Gnome desktop and I really like it. I've tried Knoppix and Ubuntu as well but I'm back with Mandrake. I want to use Firefox but it isn't part of the install package so I went to their web site and downloaded it but I don't know what to do to get it to install. It seems like it's a folder and the folder opens when I double click on it but that's all that happens. There must be some procedure that I need to follow. If this were windows, I'd know what to do. HELP!! What do I do to install a program that I've downloaded??

Hey, Marty! Mine dual boots just fine but I have a seperate HD that I use for my Linux so all I had to do was tell it to install on hdb. Jim

Yes, that is correct. I did a cut and paste to move the information about Windows XP to the top of the list so it showed up before the Linux and now the bootloader will load Windows XP after 10 seconds if you don't change it. This is what I wanted because my wife sometimes uses my computer.
