Warning: This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems. Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot * Double-click OTL.exe to start the program. * Copy and Paste the following code into the . text box of the OTL tool/program ! An Operating System that is no longer supported by Microsoft cannot be patched to secure against any new vulnerabilities, and is therefore wide open to contracting an infection.   14. Thanks Schu, i was worried about leaving the things we found but that fix removed them ! Clean up with OTL Right-click OTL.exe and select " Run as administrator " to run it. This will remove all the tools we used to clean your pc. Close all other programs apart from OTL as this step will require a reboot On the OTL main screen, press the CleanUp! button Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.   17. Kim have you cleaned it out with a can of air ? It's amazing how much dust it can collect inside !! Pretty sure it's the hard drive, not much a person can do with that. It could last months or years just can't put a time limit on it ! You could go here & check it, i have never used this site but other Malware specialist recommend it >> Please download HD Tune (the free version not the trial), run an error scan on your primary harddrive (full not quick) and report back if any blocks aren't green. It tests your hard drive for bad sectors. I can read that report if you want !! Chuck
  18. Brian, there are a lot of people that i speak to say they are just gonna run their XP till it dies ! I have an XP machine that i use for testing virus & other baddies but it's gonna stay in use till it gives up also ! I know we are all goning to have to invest in newer OS & machines !   21. That's it Chris, the one i been looking for !! This is the clean-up procedure Double click OTL.exe to launch the program. Click on the CleanUp! button. OTL will download a list from the Internet, if your firewall or other defensive programmes alerts you, allow it access. Select Yes. when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears. If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
