I'm doing this HUGE research project on disease and why we get sick, all from an evolutionary standpoint. Through my research, one thing that has puzzled me is allergies. Allergies, for the most part, are cuase by Immunoglobulin E--a part of the immune system to help fight off parasites. It is not natural for any person's body to reject substances like pollen, dander, etc. While it is still not understood, the main theory is that allergies develope while Immunogloblin E is in the process of fighting off an actual threat. In the meantime, an "innocent bystander", maybe pollen, was also fla

you have me a little confused on the Kerio statement. why do you think it came with spyware???? I use Kerio myself, to me it's the easiest free firewall out there. you have good control on what you want it to do. it's not overly bloated, like ZA or some others I know of. Totally agree. Kerio is the only free firewall that I suggest to users, and I use it myself.

Congrats! Your log is clean! How is your system running? The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again. Firefox- Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera is good as well. Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section tha -

Welcome back. Please do not reboot your computer again until instructed to. You have a malicious file that changes its name when you reboot. If you have rebooted since your last post, please scan again with HJT and post a new log; and do not continue with the directions. Scan with HJT and place a check next to the following item: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [w0a570b8.dll] RUNDLL32.EXE w0a570b8.dll,I2 0006f71c00a570b8 Make sure all browser windows and other applications are closed, and click the fixed checked button. Please download FileFind from Atribune. Unzip the file and save it to your desktop. -
I know its often use in the ASquared froum rather than HJT, for obvious reasons. I've never used the tool, but it looks to be worth a testrun sometime.. edit: Just downloaded it and took a quick look. Looks like msconfig on steroids. Allows easy access to many key features of the operating system. If someone doesn't know what they are doing, they could breake something.. edit again: well, just running it was able to freeze my machine...

its here. Id take it, but im going to be gone for the next couple of days, so I wouldnt be able to get back for a while.

Well, I can't tell much from that pic. If you do post a HJT log, post it in the HJT section in a new thread.

Hiya Barb. Can you take a screenshot of the website that you get sent to when you try to go to one of the sites. It sounds like you have some sort of malware that redirects away from support sites. Domainsponsor is affiliated with malware. Have you posted a HJT log? Matt

I agree. I only use google for unknown CLSIDs; was just using that one as an example. Back to search engines, has anyone tried Kartoo? It doesn't give the best results, but it does have an interesting layout. Its a graphical representation of the results. the larger ones are more relevent. When you mouse-over, it shouws what terms are closest realated to that site, and it also links similar results together. Kinda cool

Now here's something interesting. Since I started this threa, I've been playing with many many search engines. I have been repeating my search query E539DEA3-BA67-4F1F-A897-5F2F4F29A063 in all of them. As I stated, I've only like what Google produces, here. Now, I have come across IceRocket, here. It didn't look too promising; like some startup engine that will never be big. However, almost all the results found on the first page were identical to those of google. Even more, IceRocket has some tools such as page preview. Its cool, but I doubt I'll be switching. Just read on Digg that

On the topic of Search Engines, has anyone messed with Microsoft's "Google Killer" Live? From what I've done, I wasn't too impressed. Coincidentially, Live yields similar results as Dogpile. Seems like Google just has that *special* touch to find what you want...
-
Something I've been wondering about for a few days.. why don't more people use Dogpile? They combine search reslts from Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask; so wouldn't that yield even better results? Or, instead of giving better results, does it clutter the output with sites that arent really what you are looking for? Just something I was wondering about. Would this be better than Google because it pulls from more resources.. or would it be worse because it pulls from "lesser quality" resources? From what I can tell, it is the latter. A search on google for E539DEA3-BA67-4F1F-A897-5F2F4F29A063 (a

If you use Audacity you can record the file as it plays, then export it as an mp3. Also try a google search for convert .mus to .mp3 You may find some programs that help.

A new application has been added to the list of Rouge Anti-Spyware Applications. It is called SpywareSoftStop. This application will give you false security messages, show you a Fake Windows Update Screen, give false positives, goad to purchase, and even Plants the very files it detects as malware. I think AVG will incoorporate a lot of the definition files and other technlogies from Ewido into its AntiVirus tool, but Ewido will remain as a stand-alone tool as well. Ewido is due for a big update, and from what I hear, its gonna look something similar to Windows Defender (lets just hope it works better than Windows Defender). Since both companies believed in free versions of their software, I'd bet both tools will still have free options.

Download FileFind from Atribune. In the box labeled "Directory" Enter Drive eg.. C:\ In the box labeled "File" Enter *.m4a click find Once it finishes searching, you can export the list it finds into a notepad file. That will genereate a list of all your m4a files. the notepad will be stored in C:\Export.txt ..much faster than windows search
