  1. It's some script kiddie who found out about an exploit online, googled for the vulnerable forum software, and copy+pasted something that he didn't understand; then vandalized the site. EK9 wasn't targeted, it was just a random "casualty"
  2. *Matt blinks and looks at all the new members. Cool idea man.

  4. So I'm sitting here at my dad's house, and I came across an old 1998 Guinness Book of World Records. I quickly turned to the technology section of the book, and couldn't help but laugh at what I found. Look how far we've come: Fastest Computer 1998 - the fastest supercomputer could reach 16 gigaflops (gigaflop = 1 billion floating point operations per second) Today, the cell processor inside the Playstation 3 can reach 218 Gigaflops. Some of the top-ranking machines can hit 360 teraflops Fastest Chip 1998 - the fastest microprocessor ran at 300 MHz Today, everyday processors have multiple c
  5. As of right now, no. DirectX 10 only runs on Vista.
  6. Games = DirectX 10 = Vista That's the first thing that popped into my head when I read your post. Sure, Vista is getting a lot of bashing now, but from my personal experiences its a good OS.

  8. My dad thought that it would be a cool idea to make a documentary about going 30 days living only on Amazon.com. Absolutely everything had to be purchased from there. He shops online a ton. I don't much, as I don't have a credit card.
  9. Saw this on digg today, really cool:
  10. We were actually put on that list about a year ago. None-the-less, an excellent list to be on.

    Physics Project

Hey everyone, I've got a physics project due soon, and I'm really stumped on what to do. The general idea is to construct something that will move exactly 8 meters. Here are the specific rules: 1. The device must be in a ready to go position (but not moving) with no one touching it. 2. Movement must be initiated by a dropped weight. - The weight could directly strike the device, hit a button, or do anything else to make it go. 3. There will be a golf ball on the front of the device. At the end of your trial the golf ball must remain at the front of the device. The golf ball must stay
  13. Probably. I may just set up and RSS feed instead.

  16. I'm trying to send email though php. I'm on Ubuntu, I have apache2, and postfix installed. Here's my script and the chunk from my php.ini: <?php $to = "[email protected]"; $subject = "Test mail"; $message = "Hello! This is a simple email message."; mail($to,$subject,$message); echo "Mail Sent."; ?> [mail function] ; For Win32 only. SMTP = localhost smtp_port = 25 ; For Win32 only. sendmail_from = [email protected] ; For Unix only. You may supply arguments as well (default: "sendmail -t -i"). sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail -t ; Force the addition of the specifie
  17. Getting Ubuntu to dual-boot with Vista is cake. Since Vista allows you to create/resize partitions without losing data, all you need to do is install on your unalocated space. I use Grub, I know Jeff prefers Vista's boot loader. Yes, Compiz is pretty. Last time I messed with it, it didn't work right. I might have to try it out again. If you are using a reasonably powered machine, you won't need Xubuntu, go for regular Ubuntu.
  18. Why is this better than setting up Thunderbird/Gmail with POP?

  20. As some of you may know, we have been doing some staff adjustments on the forums. People are being shifted around, and we believe that it is working out quite well for the forums. So, without any further adieu... Congratulations to TheTerrorist_75 and shanenin on being promoted to our new Moderators! Well deserved!
  21. Yes, it is a security drawback, but I'd say with any OS, if someone has physical access to the machine, they they will get in, either by third-part applications or booting from a live OS.
  22. I went to my girlfriend's house, and we got a ton of parents pushing infants in strollers. I wonder who was getting that candy.... It was rather slow. When it was almost done, this girl dressed as a box came up and I got so excited about that that I gave her 22 pieces of candy.
  23. I wasn't able to get it to install on unallocated space on my harddrive.
  24. Hey hitest. I know that by default you can boot to single-user mode and have a root shell with no password. Will this require the user to enter a password in single-user mode?
