I understand the frustration of OS you do not understand. but the new knoppix is really just point and click. I know of no reason to go the the command line unless you are tring to set up servers.. like ssh and ftp. try the new knoppix (2.8 I belive) also what does this mean.. "when i bought mandrake 9.1 the problem was the same xp wouldnt wouldnt allow the boot loader . and mandrake dissapeared off my compt ." Window swas spacifficly made to not dual boot with other operating systems.. its why IBM suied MS over OS/2 so problems dual booting Winders and any other OS is %100 microsoft. Lilo

any one know of a cheep ftp hosting site.. I would host it my self by last time I got hacked (my fault left Frontpage crap on ... ) they left Sick porn on the the server.. (not good porn I woudl like but child and other crap.) PS. your problem sounds like a power managment problem with the old knoppix disk.. if you hit f1 at the boot: propt you should see options for turning it off.

if you are trying to not get help.. well keep it up.. I asked that you post the error if you want help.. I have seen no error posted.. untill then non of us can help.. think of it this way.. Help my windows box will not boot.. it gives post error.. ?? and I hate windows it so hard to use...... with all the spyware and spam adn viruses.. see how little you can do with a psot like that .. simple.. mozilla the open source project spun off of Netscape. like netscape Mozilla has a built in Address book and Email program. because of this its really big and takes a little longer than IE to start. jcl is right.. it sounds like you don't have the development packages installed. if you plan on compiling software (a lot of googd open source only comes in source code) then you need kernel source (some call it kernel development) Gnome Development Kde Development X11 development Pm me and I'll send you my binarys.. but they may not work.. or I can send you a beta cd that has gifff2lss and png2lss working on it.

Ok I did some research..... and I can not repeate your problem as I understand.. So I would try this.. make a folder under your home folder and mount the NTFS drive under your home folder and see what that gets you.. please cut-n-paste any errors you find..

i think the nls=iso8859-1 may confuse winders.. but I could be wrong agian.. iocharset=name is what I thought it should be.. but if that does not wirk .. try mounting it in two places... mount it under your home folder and moutn it under mount.. (or make the softlink to the mnt folder) its a try.. I need to research as I hav enever used nls=iso8859-1 and its kind of messed my thinking up.. I set up a share tomarrow and test it..

(we were talking about C code) I use it in my startgui script to allow the user to log in at init 3 and then run X while searching dev for the Video card. what is giving this error? if its linux make a link to the folder and make that origianl folders permisions readable by your user.. example.. ok I'm writing this install script .. you can see I have functions that do somethings (most are not done).. what I am having a problem with is the last 8 lines.. the if statments for the menu.. I have tried if and elif but it only takes options 1 the rest it ignores.. I have no clue why..
