StealthG
I recently did a reformat on my computer, and I cannot fix this sm bus controller thing. I have a video card and intel extreme graphics2, but I have disabled the intel graphics, and have enabled the video card graphics. Now, I have tried to install/reinstall and uninstall the smbus controller but it always says that it cannot find the necessary software. I have windows Xp, and running service pack 1. What shall I do next?
X-Cannon
This happened to me once to make sure your firewall is on and than try to install it again. When the firewall asks you if you can trust it you say and that’s all.
StealthG
Okay I turned on windows firewall, I uninstalled the sm bus controller, then I restarted. Windows found the controller and it tried to install it, but it still gave me the cannot find the necessary software message. What can I do next?
X-Cannon
You installed a firewall right? If you did try and find it by tracing back to what you installed or go to Start->All Programs-> and try to find something that would look like a firewall program ie Zone Labs or Sygate Personal Firewall. StealthG
I have no third-party firewall, I thought you meant to turn on windows firewall. But if I get a third-party firewall will it fix this problem?
X-Cannon
I don't think it will but you can always try it, It might take over the windows firewall.
StealthG
I installed sygate, uninstalled the controller, then restarted. And windows found the new hardware, tried to install it again but I still got the same message. Sygate didnt prompt me to allow it to connect to the internet. Any more ideas lol? tenmm
If I may??Unistall the video card and restore the onboard graphic's.then tryto get the SM controler to install. After you get the controler installed then re install the video card and disable the onboard.I think what has happened is the software does not reconize the card and stops.I'm hoping that by finishing up with the system in stock config it will finish installing.
