Chappy
Good Evening everyone!Well, its been quite a few days lately eh...This has been quite stressful for all of us, we all know of what I speak of here, and especially stressful for me, since it was my suicide that started this whole affair.I still stand behind my reasons, that it was in the members of Tech Support boards best interests to know what was happening, and they didn't deserve the surprise they were about to recieve. Anyway, thats over with now and we have a bunch of new members that we are very happy to have here!!With that tho, there is something I wish to point out to all of the Besttechie community, and thats language.Since this has been special circumstances recently, we have let some of the language get by, but that's not going to be the norm here. This is a Family board (not like G4 said they are...), and we do not want off-color language used in the forums. There are times when you can use the standard **, or !! to offset some of the lighter language that is used in every day conversation, this will be acceptable but don't overdo it either. The Comedy Club has a little bit looser rules concerning language and content in general, but offensive material is not acceptable anytime. Thanks to everyone for being on their best behavior these days, and lets continue to make this forum the BEST place in the Net! wolfman2001
I'm thrilled to see a family safe environment here. Maybe now I won't have to worry about the kids looking over my shoulder. Glad to be free of G4!

bar5
I totally agree on the language bit, as we have young adults and children here. We want to keep it on a family oriented board. Well said Chappy.Barb
Vile_DR
You're Right Chappy...it is best bet to remain responsible, reasonable, and professional (for some of us...lol). Plus it makes for a less stressed environment, and if there are any conflicts and disagreements that arise, they can be solved very quickly without the use of valgurities and misconceptions. TheTerrorist_75
Jeff could always setup a language filter. That way there is no slips.
CabDad
Thanks for the reminders, Chappy. I'm very happy to be here. This is a place that I would let my 11 year old surf to.Yes, indeed! Let's get back to normal:-)<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Just my thoughts based upon recent events. Was I surprised when I logged in on G4 after being gone for a while. One of my friends who came to visit last Saturday had paid a visit to G4 upon my recommendation to find a source of help in their computer adventures. I do not know who was embarrassed the most her and her husband or myself. I could not believe the change that had occurred in the language at G4 when she told me about it and was even more unsettling when seen for myself. Even though I am moving primarily to Besttechie, I still plan to visit the foul mouths in order to keep in touch with some of the civil friends still there. I hate to say, but there is even a time when there needs to be a mussel on language.
Dan72
Hi cabdad it is good to see your online presence How are you doing ?To chappy i will keep the colorful metaphors at the G$ forums
Chappy
Jeff could always setup a language filter. That way there is no slips.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hi TTYes, we do have a Language filter in the board software, but we feel that it shouldn't be needed, our members are mature enough to not need policing like that.Even our younger members are so mature, that they completely agree with, and abide by our Language policy, unwritten as it is even...The occasional slip is to be expected, and we'll address those as they arise. If a member see's something that they feel should be edited, contact Jeff, myself, or one of the other Mods, and we'll look after it if it needs to be looked after.Really tho, I don't think we'll have a problem here like "other" places do. We have a polite, considerate community, with Mods who are Understanding and Approachable, and that makes all the difference.
martymas
how do you define what is unacceptable lnguagefor instance here in the south pacific we use words which is acceptable in our area of the world .but is not acceptable.in other places and i might i saythe word bugger is in the australin and new zealand dictionaryso if bugger is offensive to some what about the other half .for me it isnt a problem but i see are we going to see languige guides so we can see if we use the right or the wrong ones .i agree g4 was an example of the how bad it was language wise and i saw a post were this young girl used all the phrases no acceptable to the public and at the end of the post she was only 13so times have changed these are my thoughts marty. tenmm
Nothing like a bunch of potty mothed keyboard users to take down a board. And if anyone thinks it takes "skill" to post porn you need to reread the definition of skill.I got to wonder about the thought process used to decide that posting pornography and cuss word makes a better site. It makes little sense to me to allow "no holds barred language and porn" at a site frequented by kids for the most part. The management over there has lost it.
