I'm looking for another community like what we have here. Either most of our members know what they need to know or they know how to use google.

Member/lurker at worldstart and major geeks. Not very keen with worldstart, some members get a bit to political and personal in the slurs.

Not leaving just looking to add to fav list.

Like tg1911 says bleepingcomputer.com is an excellent one.

I hear you about WorldStart. Too bad, has alot of good info, and good people that are willing to help you. Unfortunately, they do a lot of name calling, particularly on the Politic section, so I don't participate in that section. I mostly just lurk over there.

I still have a account there but it has been a while.

I still post over too gforum,as for the others I do have a couple of accounts but do not use them anymore(Leoville is one).

naaahhh, i wander why? was it because of the leoville meltdown. most of them probably blame people like brak and me. :( all i did was push the big red button and then alot of loud buzzers sounded. sorry for that. :( i didn't mean to, it sounds like things have sort of gotten back to normal

Hi Mike,

There are some good suggestions here. I know you already know this, but here's my 2 cents worth. ;) Be a lurker for a while--heck, I lurked here since BT's inception and only recently joined--lurked longer at a couple of places mentioned, but would never ever think of joining, due to the attitude of the members.

Some forums are great all the time, like this one, but some, as others have said, aren't very nice. One forum in particular is horrible to newcomers--seems they don't like "outsiders" (which is a stupid attitude for a forum!).

Read "between the lines" and pay attention to the little things. Pay attention to whether some members are merely smartypants :) , or obnoxious :angry2: --this can take some time to figure out. Read the "offtopic" sections, there you can learn about the personalities of the members.

And please make sure you make this place your homebase--we love seeing you here and this noob still needs all the help she can get!

World start isn't a bad site to be at. I have been a member for well over a year there. I know the board you speak of that gets very heated most of the time. I call that board the shark tank Lol. in other words, if you can't take the heat in the kitchen, get out. Further more that board in particular any member has to request a membership to view or even post on that board. I agree ! lots of mud gets thrown in peoples faces. I myself rarely if ever post on that board. In my opinion about that board, you better have all your T's crossed and your Eyes dotted. And even then the sharks as I call em still come after you, so one better be able to back up a statement. I just go in there to read. By the way the name of that board is called, ( RP&C. ) Religion. Politics, and Controversy.

We have had our fare share of trolls on our off topic board, but things have calmed down as ADMIN has finally cracked down on the nonsince. I would also say we have a great PC. Ask & answer board there. One thing I like about the Ask & answer board is, when you help a person with a PC. issue or just a question, is 9 out of 10 times you get thanked for your help.

So ! stop back in at WS. be sure to stop by the off topic board when your not helping anyone with PC. issues. We really are a nice bunch of people. I have to say. I spend most of my time in OT. and the

Updates, Security, and Scams board.

i also belong to world start

mr bill and tommy baseball talked me into it when we got desolved from techtv

and ive had a few runins

once i critersized certain sections of the population

and the forum was closed down because of the flak i got for speaking my mind

when they reopened the forum

they emailed me and asked me to participate

so i did

but havent posted to that

forum for some time .

the board is full of gay people and you have to be careful how you word your posts .

once i posted about a puff of smoke

and by mistake i posted poofs

and my did i get the rasberry

another we were having a discussion on language

the way we say things in the south pacific

and i happened to post about the races like welsh scotch irish

and i included the bowbells language

cockney.

and my did i get roasted for the first 4 letters .

in the off topic section any thing goes.

so i view that board as hypocritics

God Bless You!! I just finished posting something in the Rant Thread--an issue that just breaks my heart and was in tears just typing it. Your post made me laugh and laugh (especially the "poofs and raspberry" part :D ). I bet you weren't trying to be comical, but the "poof part" struck me as funny and you have no idea how much I needed to laugh when I read your post. *great big internet hugs to you* and thank you so much. You're a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor and your input would be welcome anywhere (but please stay here!)
