snyper
Im a member here a short while and i find the members friendly, which tend to be the case with small forums..i spend more time on another forum, but i like to pop in every day or so to lurk and lend my support - The tec section is pretty good and you guys have big post count in the comedy club which is my fav part..its mostly american "type humor" which is a matter of taste to us Europeans but i like it!Keep up the good work guys Edited November 15, 2006 by snyper
bearskin
well I have to say that my favorite, mostest, bestest part is......no ads.but living on a fixed income makes it kinda hard to donate.thanks jeff for the freebies.
snyper
well I have to say that my favorite, mostest, bestest part is......no adsThats a size thing tho...bigger forums can get abit more costly to run..also bigger forums are more attractive to adertise on...It depends on the type of adverts....i would not visit a site that had popup adverts or "sexual content" adverts as i visit forums while at the office and i dont need the hassle. Matt
My favorite thing about BT is the fact that we actually have a family type member base. By that, I'm almost thanking the fact that we are small. Much larger forums basically work like this: The Staff are the members, and everyone else who registers is a one-timer looking for tech support. I'm certainly glad we aren't like that. While we continue to grow, we are getting more members who just have a couple posts (or none at all) and never return. However, we aren't losing anyone in the process. When here, I still have the feeling that I "know" everyone, and I hope we stay like that, no matter how big we get. It's just great being able to say to myself "Hey, that's tictoc, he has a son and is really good at linux and graphic design" or "Look it's mac, he's a bit crazy and always has something humorous to add to situations."It's things like that, accompanied with the outstanding tech support community (I love being able to talk tech with friends rather than being a number on a Dell waiting list). So, in a nutshell, my favorite thing about Besttechie is that while we continue to grow, we haven't lost our "small forum feel." Besttechie
I don't know if I'm supposed to post to this buttttttt....I'ma do it anyway I'm going to give you guys a little background in the world of BestTechieSome of you may know some of this and some of you don't, so here goes. How do I feel about the site that I've built and have been developing since May of 2003 when I registered the domain. This site is probably my biggest accomplishment so far in my young life and I couldn't be happier than how it has progressed to this point. The site started off mainly as really nothing, actually. It was page with some of my writing and some links and a few other things. As time went on I continued to expand the site and work with it more and more. Once TechTV was gone a good friend of mine, Matt asked me why don't I start forums on BestTechie? We talked for a while and I decided yanno what, that would be a good idea and so I did with the help of another friend Tom Coyote of TomCoyote.org - another help site. This site means so much to me and it really is my baby. I don't post as often on the forums as I would like - but trust me - I do, do a ton of work behind the scene as do all the other Admin's and Mods here - we have a great team of people. I'd like to thank Dave, Ed, Rock, Matt, Hitest, Mac, JSKY, robroy, and Chachazz (I hope I got everyone, lol) for all of their extremely hard work, because without them the site wouldn't nearly as good as it is. The site requires a lot of work and time so their help makes a huge difference. I will be always trying to improve BestTechie in any way I think of - the new blogs are something I thought all of you would enjoy and I really hope you do. I truly love the people here all of the members and staff - you guys are really great and of course without you there's no point to any of the things I do so I do appreciate all of you and I love that you all can get along so well - it really is great to see that something I created (at first for no particular reason) has become something that many of you love. As for my favorite thing...I'd have to say watching the site develop into what it is today and to continue to watch it develop later on. Long Live BestTechie.net! TheTerrorist_75
With TechTV gone this is my home and everyone is family. Without BT I would go nuts.
blim
"maturity level"?? Ohhhhhhh-oh.....(do I have to be mature?)First of all, I want to thank Jeff and all his helpers for making this site such a great place to belong to and thanks to Snyper, too. You jumped in with both feet when you joined and that is such a nice thing to see from new members. I'm happy you're so active here and I love your sense of humor! My favorite thing about BT's is the variety of areas to run amuck in, whether it's to checkon updates, chat, read jokes or ask a geekquestion, it's all here!Liz
garmanma
Every once in a while I'll go to the G4 forums, read a few messages, shake my head in disbelief, and logout. Besttechie took over and became what the old Techtv boards were striving to become. Mark
robroy
I am a member of about 15 forums, most of which are help forums first and foremost. They are good but they don't have the friendly family feel that BT has. Most of them have very little in the off topic/ open chat area. It has the feel of being added because other forums did so. Here the Open Chat is as big a part of the forum as the help parts. Also as has already been mentioned the core mebership here keeps checking in every few days. When one goes missing, the others all check to see if everything is ok for that member, never heard of that happening elsewhere Besttechie is by far the best furum around thanks Jeff and all the others who help to make it that way btw Liz its ok for you to keep running amok here

OK, guess a minor jacking won't hurt....The answer: No, I haven't and I don't know why....It's been bugging me quite a bit so thanks for bringing it up right when I thought I was done thinking about it! Seriously though, I'm having those "high school reunion" feelings of inadequacy about my life (you know, like single at 37, I don't make 6 figures, drive a benz, didn't become the rock star that kinda $#!t) and I really don't feel like hearing how happy my first love is with her husband...not that I know that she is happily married and I'd love to talk to her regardless of her situation but can't seem to bring myself to dial the number....guess I'm a bit neurotic. </hi-jacking> Edited November 16, 2006 by tictoc5150

hitest
Why do I like BT? This is my home away from home. Besttechie.net is a very unique forum on the Internet, we really are a family and strive for an authentic, relaxed coffee house atmosphere. First and foremost, we are the best forum because of the membership here. Collectively we have decided that we care about this place and each other. I feel very lucky to be a member here. It can accurately be stated that we have the best Staff on the Internet. We have experts in all operating systems, electronics, web designing, programming. You name it! If you have a technology related issue we can help you. I'm very fortunate to work with amazing Moderators: Matt, macmarauder, robroy, Chachazz, and JSKY are the best.I'd like to thank Jeff, and the senior Admin team (Dave, Dragon, and Rock) for doing an outstanding job and keeping this forum a beacon on the Internet. bar5
Definitely the family atmosphere. No foul language, no fighting and calling each other names. I drop by some other forums, just to see if any improvement in the disrespect for other members. Not much ever changes. Here at BT, I know I can come here, feel welcome, part of a net family that really cares about each other. We have some of the nicest people here. You all have a great sense of humor, which is what I enjoy. I like the bantering back and forth with each other, and it is not taken seriously, as it is not meant to be. There is total respect for each member. This is my home on the net. A very unique place like no other. You are a wacky bunch, but lovable Keep up the good work Jeff in making this place what it is, and all the mods that patrol this place. Barb

thesidekickcat
Thanks to Jeff, (Beluga, his screen name from the old days ), for giving us refuges a home to come to after the storms many of us had been through in losing TTV, when so many of us felt like unwanted orphans on it's replacement site that just didn't feel like a home no matter how hard we try/tried. But thanks to Jeff, BestTechie is HOME!!! This is FAMILY and We Care About Each Other Alot!!! We give of our time, our help, our support, our love, and our prayers to each other, and we receive a harvest back of all that and alot more!!! We laugh together, we cry together, we love each other, we are one big worldwide family!!! As for some of the things I love about this place... there are so many it is hard to list only a few.People that care about each other has to be number one.Freedom to be ourselves...and to insert an off topic message into a thread without being scolded/banned... or to more aptly put it... to freely run amuck as Liz calls it... yet respectful of others while doing it.Freedom to grow in this technology at our own pace without being pushed, prodded or made fun of, but still encouraged when we try new things.I will close with a couple of my favorite things about this board, a sense of serenity and peace abounds here, and it's a safe place to hang out!!!Thanks to Jeff, and the admin/mod team, and to the members who make and keep this such a great place for all of us!!! Long live BestTechie!!! PatGod bless everyone
