  1. It sounds like this could be due to an older motherboard that there is a Bios limitation on hard drive size.
  2. Try KillDisk to wipe the drive. If it shows more than 1 partition have it wipe the partitions out also. AFter running KillDisk you will need to run FDISK again to correctly set up the partitions and then format all partitions.
  3. There have been bugs reported with IE7. Some get lucky while others don't. I only use IE for updates so I'll stick with IE6 until IE7 is stable.
  4. There is not much difference in the life of PC hardware between leaving them on 24/7 or turning them off when done using it. I always shut down my system when I am done using it and leave the house. I have yet to have any hardware fail since it was built 5+ years ago. I can say I have seen computers that burned up when left on 24/7 and the owner had left home while it was running. If you are going to be running your PC 24/7 make sure you use an UPS device (power spikes can kill your system) and have smoke alarms with a fire suppression system along with home owners/renters insurance. Another t
  5. The command is fdisk /mbr which is included in the FDISK link. KillDisk would wipe any info but not the partitions. At the FDISK link check out deleting multiple partitions.
  6. One of the main reasons I use Opera. Just like IE I can toggle sounds, video and animations on/off without having to mess with the userContent.css file. http://virtuelvis.com/archives/2005/04/disable-sound-firefox
  7. Another way to dual boot WinXP/98SE. Install Windows 98 after I've installed XP
  8. You probably need to install Java. Yahoo and other sites rely on Java. Many sites use Javascript for some of their features.
  9. Very cool, TT_75! That's all I use. The program is simple yet effective.
  10. After running FDISK did you shutdown the computer before formatting the drive? Once you exit FDISK you leave the floppy in and shut the computer off for about a minute then start it up to format the drive. You will need to format all three partitions. Once that is completed correctly try installing the dual boot in the following way. Dual boot WinXP and Win98
  11. If your setup is 12VDC to the cigarette lighter get a 12VDC to 120VAC inverter. I have taken ones out of old ambulances that were being junked. Some of these put out enough wattage to run power tools.
  12. Some ISPs employ spamfilters on their email servers and treat many ecards as spam due to many ecard companies that are spam.
  13. Setting up the separate drivers for hardware on the different OSes will be the same for each. You just boot into each OS and install the drivers for that OS. The OSes don't share the drivers between them. You will have to install the motherboard drivers on each OS before any others also. Order of drivers install. Motherboard Video Modem/NIC Other drivers Try to get WinXP Home with SP2 or SP3. That way the firewall will be activated before you go on the Internet thereby reducing your chances of being infected at the get go. I usually install my anti-virus after all of the drivers are installed
  14. Post this problem in PC Support. Maybe someone there has used this camera and software. From what I can see at the Lexcron site is that their support does suck and imagine that their products aren't that reliable.
  15. It could be a USB problem. Try switching USB posts then start the computer and see if the camera is detected. If Windows does detect it as new hardware then install the drivers again. How many USB items do you have plugged in? If there are too many there may be not enough power (USB) for all of them.
  16. Those immortal words, "When I nod my head hit it." Flushing the crankcase. Those are priceless. I was driving down this back road when I saw a guy in his driveway toss a GM 3-speed standard tranny while cussing up a storm. I just had to stop and aks him what was up. He said he put a new clutch and pressure plate in and had spent two days trying to get the tranny in. I asked if he lined it up and he said, "Sure did!." I asked if he wanted my help and he said screw it the car was for sale and he would let the buyer put it in. I asked how much and his PO'd reply was the first $100 took it. I
  17. That program is shareware. If one wishes to continue using it after the trial is up the cost is $39.95.
  18. It's a good thing that skin regenerates itself. I couldn't even begin to imagine how many square inches of it I left on vehicles. I have broken every toe on each foot several times fron dropping heads, transmissions, complete engines and other assorted parts. I had several ribs broken when a chain broke that was holding an engine while putting it in. The impact broke the car jacks and dropped the car on my chest. Don't you just love it when a battery explodes in your face or a radiator cap blows off and fills your kisser with extremely hot water? They say fishermen, loggers and construction wo
  19. Start again and use FDISK correctly then format C:. Here is a FDISK guide I ran across some time back. Using FDISK Install WinME
  20. I installed all of the critical updates except IE7 and haven't had any problems. I haven't heard of any issues about any of them either except for IE7. IE7 seems to be a bit buggy on some systems yet.
