  1. If that ATI Rage is functional it will work to test the PC. Look up on HP's site on how to disable the onboard video once you can see again.
  2. This is a HP/Compaq? You may have an AGP slot. In any case you should be able to install a PCI video card to test.
  3. Yes Thanks You, thats the one! Cool! That took a lot of imagination when Googling. I tried every form of those "words" and even tried Google's suggestions before I spotted that.
  4. Video card or onboard video port crapped out. BTW. I still use IE6 fully updated for when it is needed. I refuse to allow IE7 on my system.

  6. It cost me $180.00 for the roofing shingles (3 squares) and a gallon of tar for that one section of the roof plus a couple 30 packs of Bud Light and a feast for my friends to help me. It took us 2 1/2 hours. We parked my buddy's RV along side the porch area, set a saw horse on top with a 16 foot pick running from the RV to the top of the porch roof. We had to use 3 sets of roof jacks to comfortably scale the section of roof which is about a 6/12 pitch.

  8. I believe in Panda. I will usually surf different sites when reading HJT logs to see how someone became infected. Panda has stopped a lot of malware cold. I still scan with AdAware 2007 twice a month and usually it only finds one MRU. Now and then I double check by running most of the online scans from Kaspersky, Eset and Panda ActiveScan. My PC has stayed clean for the last seven years since I started using Panda. I also like it's firewall because I can disable/enable all programs inbound and outbound connections. I also use SpywareBlaster. I used to use the MVPs Host file but it was causing
  9. It looks nothing like Steve Jobs' Apple logo. Bloomberg will own Steve's "fruits". NYC was known as the Big Apple long before Steve was born.
  10. I got the roof done just in time. It has been raining all day. Now it looks like I'll have to wait until Sunday, when it is supposed to be sunny and warm, to change my oil and thermostat in the GMC. It was a bit steep replacing that one section of roof.
  11. A nice chilly morning in the high teens with sunshine. It's expected to go up to 52 this afternoon. Perfect day to repair the roof.
  12. ANJAN; This appears to be related to your other problem. Please reply to your other thread and include this information.
  13. Are you some expert who is here to save us all? Please don't post nonsense like this. If someone has a problem reply to their thread with something that resembles help.
  14. I just got done cleaning a PC that used McCrappee Security Suite. It had over 80 infections.
  15. Pop the hood and start it up. Listen closely as to where the noise is coming from. As the temperature rises make sure the fan starts and also that it speeds up as the car gets hotter. Pcik up the Chiltons or Haynes manual for your Lexus and check out how to replace the pump. Another possibility is a stuck thermostat or leak. With the car cold remove the radiator cap then start it to see if there is circulation. Worst case scenario is a blown head gasket, cracked head or block.
  16. Is it the only shortcut that does not work? Is it just not responding or are you getting an error window?
  17. You can't change most Dull users. They will insist that if Dull installed it then it must be good. They also believe that the preloaded McCrapee will protect them forever without renewing or updating. Of course AOhelL's Security will back up the outdated McCrappee, not! Then there is the multiple toolbars stuck on the AOhelL browser and IM programs. Don't forget they add those nice smilies that infects the PC or those foolish game downloads that do the same. Why is it many Dull users end up with MyWebSearch?
  18. Thanks jw. Between your help and what I remember from the tests at GeekU I'd say this PC got a thorough cleaning and is locked down. Thanks again. This can be locked.
  19. It seems like everything is completely messed up when you need to use another person's PC. You get so used to your own that once you have logged onto a stranger's PC it seems as though you were dealing with a Neanderthal. Their computer is so totally setup wrong that it causes you work double the hours to accomplish anything. Talk about being spoiled. I whined for the 30 hours I was using the PC I was fixing. Why couldn't I have my mouse gestures, where are my tabs, why is this darn screensaver going off every 8 minutes and why does it boot to the log-in screen coming out, why did they put tho
  20. All anti-virus online and installed come up clean. Here are the latest DSS scans from both admin accounts. Nothing bad stands out to me. 21. Many spammers can use auto-generated email addresses. It could be just your luck that they used yours. It isn't difficult for them to come up with say [email protected]. It is also possible someone did capture your email information through an unsecured wireless connection. The best bet is to do a HJT scan and post it in the malware section just to be sure you weren't compromised. If you are clean you may need to change your email address.
