A fresh install is preferable when changing motherboards. With XP you could do a repair install. I don't know about Win2K. Search through the list for Front panel connectors for part # 4000842 or 4000844 and see if one of those pin layouts are the same. You should be able to adapt your power connector to fit the board.

GATEWAY ESSEX MOTHERBOARD D845GRG, serial #'s 4000783, 4000828 (These are proprietary boards that use a special connector from the power button and etc. Look for a serial number on the board to match it.) Click Scan Your PC at the right and see if it identifies the drivers. Check the following to see if it matches your motherboard. You can click on the blue items such as Front panel connector to see the layout of the pins. 4000828 Search for something similar to your board Front Panel Connectors You could also use the following programs to help determine what your hardware is and what drivers

What adjustment did you make with the power off? Make sure the Cmos pin is in the right location. When changing anything in the Bios make sure to Save & Exit (F10). Study the manuals to similar motherboards in that series for the LED connections. Some motherboards may be different revisions or proprietary setups for manufacturers such as Dell, HP/Compaq and etc. and would have a different pin layout. The pin layout should be marked on the board with very small letters. Use a magnifying glass to look for them.

Buy a hard drive from somewhere like NewEgg plus an OEM operating system disk. You would be able to save a crap load of money. On top of that you wouldn't need to load all of HP's crap programs with the fresh install from a OEM disk. You would need to go to HP's site and download all of the drivers for your system and the OS that you buy. -
My brain is 21 years younger than I am. No wonder I get in so much trouble.

Consumers Won'T Pay $120 For Windows 7 Upgrade
TheTerrorist_75 replied to Peaches's topic in Article Submissions
I would not have an issue paying $120 for Win7. I figure that something I can run for 10 years is worth the cost of $12 a year. I pay more than that for my anti-virus suite per computer ($13/year each for 3 PCs). -

You don't want to be working on the inside of a computer case while standing on carpet with socks on your feet, especially in a cold climate when there is no humidity. In those conditions I recommend using a ground strap. -
Microsoft .Net Framework...

Why do you figure it sucks? The only reason Mozilla banned it was because it installed in Firefox without asking. The update fixes a security hole in browsers used with Windows operating systems. I would prefer security holes be plugged. -
Have you downloaded and installed all of WinXP's updates? Check the tips in the following link. WINDOWS XP SHUTDOWN & RESTART TROUBLESHOOTING

Mmmmmmm.......Squirrel Jambalaya in hot pepper sauce. Now I am hungry for squirrel. I have dozens of fat happy ones running around my yard squirreling away the butternuts from my tree. I had to yell at one storing the nuts on my truck's engine. Must be he wanted them cooked.

Looking good.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but no, I don't think it is what you're asking? If that makes any sense. B In regards to the IPB 3 "special surprise".

Hope no one is using dial-up. The .NET Framework 3 update is 69 MB. When I downloaded the updates last night they amounted to close to 150 MB. -
Wrap some mothballs in cheesecloth and hang it somewhere in the engine compartment (master cylinder?). Don't let it touch the engine or exhaust. The only other recourse is a .22 and make squirrel stew.
