my name is macmarauder and i sleep in the closet ..................... it's true, i have a bad problem with nightmares, mostly due to a really bad experience and i don't hang my clothes in in there or leave my shoes on the floor there. i leave a pillow and blanket in the closet so that when i'm having nightmares i climb into the there and i feel safer. seriously i when i have nightmares i can sleep in the closet and don't usually have the nightmares while in there. the only other thing that seems to help is that i almost never have problems if someone else is in the room with me. i keep tell

so which iMac G4 does he have? you could go to the apple specs site to find the exact one. there's been dozens of iMac G4 configurations of the years. if you looked at the model # on the back it would help you. http://www.info.apple.com/support/applespec.html if it is airport ready then just go that route since it's far better. ohh and i think most wireless bridges don't really have mac, windows, unix. requirements. correct me if i'm wrong but i pretty much avoid wireless. 802.11B is the same regardless of os.

the key to that is RAM.. 1.5 gig (max for this system) and mixing is diffrent from recording.. I have a alesis HD 24 for that .. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah the advantage of memory based systems. upgrading ram on older Macs makes a huge difference with certain processes. if anyones worried about OS 9 installing over OS X or conflicting with each other. don't, they're pretty well cut and dry and separated. 2 completely different systems so they will rarely conflict while installing.

don't worry it's not nearly as hard as you might think. when you get the disk boot off the CD. (standard holding C key while booting with cd in drive or just select the cd in the start up disk preference pane in the system preferences.) go ahead and try to install OS 9. it'll install just fine with OS X. when done the OS 9 system folder should now be a bootable option in your start up disk preference pane. just select it and reboot. lets us know if you run into any trouble. you might run into trouble depending on how OS X was installed the last time. but we can always find ways around that

i think he said that he had the original reinstall disc. he could just use that disc if it's os x 10.3 or higher. there is a disc repair program on the disc, try that to repair the permissions and then if that doesn't work then reinstall using the disc.

Honda_Boy your not doing anything illegal. what your thinking of is there was a company putting the guts of Macs into their own custom cases and reselling them. that was illegal but not building a Mac. the old iMacs were not designed with upgrades in mind and parts are not easy to come buy. there are plenty of upgrades for them but he really is better off just saving a little and getting a new Mac or and older Powermac like the old Dual Mirror G4s. with a little work and OS X they're pretty powerful for cheap. well for a Mac anyways.

ok now for todays random thought: have you ever noticed that after the first time that you go to a 3D movie at an iMax theater real life seems to loose some of it's dimension. things just don't look quite as cool unless their flying at you through red and blue lenses. one time i liked the movie so much that i saw it several times in a row and know that little head ache that you get from those 3D glasses. i swear that by the 4th viewing i was getting a buzz off of that head ache.
