Last week was my birthday and I didn't feel very well waking up that morning. I went downstairs for breakfast hoping my wife would be pleasant and say, "Happy Birthday! ", and possibly have a present for me. As it turned out, she barely said good morning, let alone "Happy Birthday." I thought... Well, that's marriage for you, but the kids will remember. My kids came in to breakfast and didn't say a word. So when I left for the office, I felt pretty low and somewhat despondent. As I walked into my office, my secretary Jane said, "Good Morning Boss, Happy Birthday!" It felt a little better that

At some point in a little under a year I'm going to buy a new PC for my 12 year old daughter with Vista pre-loaded. I'm hoping by that time all of the bugs will be mostly ironed out. Heh, then I'll inherit her computer and put some kinda Linux on it:-)

Thanks, mac! So far so good, my man:-) It definately uses less system resources. Ubuntu 6.06 LTS is also an excellent choice because the good people at Ubuntu will support it for three years, very cool.

Just did a clean install of Ubuntu 6.10 which was released two days ago. Edgy Eft is a worthwhile upgrade. I notice that the computer has a faster boot-up time and it seems to be more responsive, it uses less system resources. It ships with Fire Fox 2.0, Gnome 2.16, Open Office 2.04, and the 2.6.17.10 kernel. I like it.

Agreed, that is interesting! Hackers that only want you to be infected with their malware and not other trojans, etc.

Good to see you back on the boards, my friend! I'm sorry to hear that you lost your job by telling the truth to a customer, that sucks. I'm happy that you are doing well and that you are happy with your girl friend.

There isn't an installer. The manual install is dead simple though: copy/symlink the .so into the right place and you're done. Firefox and Mozilla look in ~/.mozilla/plugins/, Opera can be pointed wherever you want by editing ~/.opera/pluginpath.ini, Konqueror... I can't remember. Thanks, jcl.

I went to the adobe site and downloaded, extracted the file, but, the command ./flashplayer-installer didn't work like it did for flash 7. I guess 9 has a new installer?
