Start up the program Synaptic. You will be asked for your password. Synaptic will check your system for available updates. When Synaptic finishes at the top of the window it will show what versions of Ubuntu you can upgrade to. Click on the Upgrade button. To find Synaptic click: System-------->Administration-------->Synaptic Package Manager.
