  1. Agreed. Some kind soul will be duped by this obvious scam. Thanks, Joe! I've also received bogus e-mails like this from paypal.
  2. I'm running a 17" black AL1706 Acer on my Slackware box, I love it. Nice and bright:-)

    Wine?

Here's a link I found on Wine: http://packages.ubuntulinux.org/dapper/otherosfs/wine You should be able to easily install it using Synaptic in Ubuntu (you may need to add the Universe repository to get it though). To add repositories in Synaptic you need to click on Settings-------->Repositories--------+Add, then okay. After you've added the new Universe repo hit the reload button which will update synaptic and give you access to more software. Then you open up Synaptic type in Wine in the search window, then select wine type apply. I don't use wine so I can't recommend it one way or ano

  7. Kubuntu doesn't come with a lot of icons. Just right-click the task bar on the bottom and add the icons that you want. You can customize it to fit your needs.
  8. As a security precaution most Debian-based systems will not allow you to easily log-in to a graphical environment as root. Actually you can accomplish everything you want by invoking the root password when prompted or by logging on as root at a terminal prompt. For example I recently used this command on my Debian Etch box at a root shell prompt to add non-free repos to my sources list after editing my sources list ( wanted to have java and a lot of other non-free apps) #cp sources.list /etc/apt
  9. I agree with Chappy and Matt, As a Moderator who actively works in this forum I should have been more involved with editing inappropriate content in this thread, I participated in this thread too. My apologies in this matter. Okay guys let us keep it clean from now on.

  11. Agreed. I've got a 98 Malibu that periodically gives me messages from the on-board computer. Many times the messages are correct, but, sometimes.......well they're just mysterious and plain annoying.
  12. Have fun with it and learn about Kubuntu:-) Kubuntu which is based on debian linux is quite different from rpm based distros like fedora. You can do anything you want with your linux box. Congrats on getting up and running.
  13. Nicely done, Honda Boy:-) To install firefox you need to look for a package manager program called adept. Adept will connect to the Kubuntu repositories for you and you'll be able to easily download, install firefox. It should be in system administration somewhere. Heh, you beat me to it Carnevil:-)
