Slackware 12.0, with XFce 4.4.1. Just tried an experiment and set-up Claws-Mail 3.0.2 using IMAP and my gmail account. I used the "other" settings that are in the on-line gmail mail settings. Claws Mail 3.0.2 is a ripping fast e-mail client. My buddy Carnevil turned me on to this client awhile ago.

Maybe a system restore point? I know XP does that, maybe your Vista system is all backed up on a hidden partition. -

Agreed. marty could do that:-) If you do modify your sources.list ,marty, I would keep a back-up of sources.list in a saved directory in case apt breaks. Also, as iccaros said you could just pick and choose which updates to apply. I would update your version of Fire Fox as that patch becomes available. As iccaros said, you don't need to update things that you don't regularly use. if you don't update everything then you could probably avoid exceeding your cap. I hope you can continue to use Linux, marty:-) You've come a long way.

I'm sorry to hear that, marty! Yes, Ubuntu does indeed issue a lot of security updates.

There's a small company in Redmond, Washington that uses these protocols as part of their OS. Can't remember the name of the company though.

Yeah, Opera is an excellent browser, but, I prefer FF 2.0.0.11 for java and for general use. I occasionally use Opera.
