  1. That all depends on what Fidel Castro's lawyer, Greg Craig , tells him to do. Heh, don't forget Obama is a Harvard trained lawyer. I think he can handle himself with the law:-)
  2. Thanks for the heads-up, Jeff:-)
  3. I get that feeling from Obama, that he's anxious to, uh-hem, rule, not dwell on the past. We'll see how he reels everyone else in though. One problem with that is that one of Bush's failings was his policy of NEVER addressing his critics. They could (and did) say ANYTHING, and he ignored it, never said a word. Part of his "can't we all just get along" persona. The only thing THAT ever accomplished was critics (here and around the world) had a field day, flinging every sort of mud they could, all day long, for nearly eight years. Bush was the devil incarnate and, why not? He never said a word
  4. Heh, remember where you are:-) This is the World and Politics forum where political threads are perfectly acceptable. I am very happy how this new forum is shaping up. It is all good.
  5. They're not done with Bush yet, that's what's going to happen. They have nothing on him despite nearly eight years of trying (everything he's done has been backed up by the courts), but you just wait and see, they're gonna drag him through the mud anyway, trying to find something, ANYTHING, no matter how small, no matter how petty, to pin on him. And it's not just because of Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS), the circus surrounding his persecution will distract public attention from current events (and I won't get into why they'll need to do that). For the BDS crowd it's a win-win with no down-s
  6. Congratulations, America! I am very happy for you on this special day. History in the making:-)
  7. I ran Windows on my computer that I got for Christmas as it came pre-loaded with XP. I had no beefs with the OS, it ran well, albeit a bit slower than Linux. After 1-2 days I loaded Slackware on the unit. I don't hate Windows, I just prefer *nix. To me it looks like Windows 7 will be a success for MS.
  8. AC/DC, good old rock and roll:-)
  9. I'm glad there is a cease fire in place. Israeli troops are withdrawing from Gaza. http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/01/19/...pullout.israel/
  10. Agreed. I find it tragic that only the well-healed can afford health care. To me a sign of a civilized society is affordable health care and education for all people. Unfortunately with our conservative government we are moving in the wrong direction north of your border (our government would love to privatize health care, education).
  11. It is a crisis for uninsured people who become gravely ill as the prohibitive costs of an extended hospital stay or procedures can lead to bankruptcy in the USA. You lose your house, savings, everything. If you're healthy it is all good. In Canada our health care system is far from perfect, our wait times for procedures are getting longer as our current conservative government cuts back on funding the health care system. But, the difference is that I can afford to pay for my health care costs if I get sick. Obama is in the right track in my opinion.
  12. Happy Birthday, shanenin:-) Have a few cold ones, kick back, relax:-) Enjoy your day, man!
  13. Yeah, I've been looking at that for my daughter's Macbook. That looks like a winner to me. So you just plug-in the Time Capsule to your wireless router and it automagically backs-up a Mac? Very cool solution, t0c!!!
  14. I'm very happy to hear that you are taking a closer look at Linux:-) I've been Windows free for several years and am happy with my choice. Linux beats the hell out of Windows for speed, security, and stability.
  15. Xubuntu is Ubuntu, but, it has the XFce desktop environment installed instead of Gnome (which is the default in Ubuntu). XFce is lighter and faster than Gnome, but, it takes some getting used to. I've used XFce for a long time; it is an exceptional environment. Right now I'm running KDE and liking it:)
  16. Xubuntu is awesome, all the goodness of apt-get and ripping fast.
  17. Heh-heh, well-said, man! This is the main reason I keep a FreeBSD partition on one of my Slackware boxes, because things don't always work as easily in BSD and it keeps me entertained:-) Unlike Slackware, getting basic things to work like flash and printing in FreeBSD is an adventure.
  18. Just started playing with GoogleEarth, as I've never had a Linux box fast enough to run it until now. It is pretty cool. This is my location on the North Coast of BC, Canada. Slackware 12.2, KDE 3.5.10.
  19. Awesome, great to hear, Honda Boy! Ubuntu is a sturdy, excellent version of Linux.
  20. Microsoft has added more servers so 7 is now available for download. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/
  21. FreeBSD 7.1, KDE 3.5.10. Surprisingly linux-firefox 3.0 doesn't segfault using linux-flash9.
  22. That is difficult to say without more information, it sure does seem that there have been a lot of corruption scandals as of late though. I'm very curious to see if the FBI has information to prove that the Governor did something criminally wrong. I'm not defending his actions in any way. Given the information that has been released it appears that he has does something wrong.
  23. Hi Honda Boy, Further to my last post. Ubuntu has a very powerful package management system called apt-get. It is simple and easy to install programs in Ubuntu. Click------>Applications------>Accessories-------->Terminal When the terminal prompt opens up you can install thousands of programs from the on-line Ubuntu repositories by issuing a few commands. For example, to install thunderbird you would type these commands: sudo apt-get install thunderbird Type on the enter key. Enter your password and follow the prompts. You can install a lot of other programs using that format: su
