Up here in Canada in my province we still use paper ballots. Ballots are hand-counted by trusted officials in each electoral district. It is a bit old fashioned, but, it works. I would also be very leery of voting on an electronic machine. I can appreciate that the machines are convenient and they quickly count ballots, but, if there is even a remote chance that the machines can malfunction or worse be hacked then that is unacceptable to me.

You are entitled to your opinion, of course. We will agree to disagree on that. -

I don't think I claimed that Apple OS is secure. No operating system is perfectly secure. Some hardened versions of BSD like OpenBSD are quite secure. I do like the way that OS X functions. I enjoy administering my daughter's macbook. -

I'm not saying that there are no mac viruses out there. You still need to install this virus to get it to activate on a mac. My initial point still stands. If you are a complete moron who is willing to install a pirated version of software that you've downloaded from a file sharing site you deserve to get owned. To activate this mac virus you need to give the installer root access to your system. So you are installing the virus. That isn't exactly on par with the drive by shootings that occur with windows. It is a good practice to only install software from a trusted source. -

Yes. Some people are sick and disgusting. I truly hope they catch this freak!

Agreed. I also like Obama's approach. It is in the interest of the USA to ease the chill with Cuba and Venezuela. Isolationism and cold war rhetoric is a thing of the past.

If you're stupid enough to install untrusted software from a file sharing network onto your system then you deserve to get rooted. I'm sure that a boxed version of iWorks 09 is just fine. -
This is a very well-written guide on how to compile your kernel from source for Slackware. You may need to modify some entries if you use GRUB rather than LILO. It works for me. Kernel Compile Guide

I think there is the possibility of a thaw in US/Cuban relations. I'm sure that the GOP is up in arms over Obama shaking hands with Chavez. I think that Obama is making strides with Russia and Europe. Iran and N. Korea will be a challenge methinks. Source- CNN

I'm using Opera 9.64 more than FF 3.0.8 lately. For some reason FF 3.0.8 sometimes freezes when I try to log-in to my company Oracle data base. Opera doesn't freeze-up on me.
