LOL The Linux forum has the smartest people that I've ever had the pleasure to meet. You're one of the smart ones, tictoc. You provide good tips for newcomers. Thanks, tictoc for the birthday wishs! Yep, forgot to put in my birthday info.........sheesh.

That's a tough one. I would just as the other posters said block the messages and label them as junk. Thunder Bird 1.0.6 has a great junk mail filter. Good luck, man.

It was really very coincidental that you posted this when you did Wic, and I was very tempted to let the cat out of the bag here, but that wouldn't have been the Right thing to do in this case... Well, your wish has been granted, but on a PERMANENT basis <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks, Chappy I'm looking forward to working with you and the other mods:-)

Hi Folks! Thank you for the wonderful birthday wishes, you made my day:-) As my buddy macmarauder said I forgot to enter my birthday data hence no notification happened. This is one of many reasons why I love this forum. There are so many kind and thoughtful people here. You guys rock!!! I appreciate this a lot. I'll post back again in an hour or two. I'm busy breaking my computer, doing an install,LOL!

Ubuntu is not too bad, I've run it for some time. It has a few things going for it. 1. Good hardware detection. 2. It'll run on old and new computers; it doesn't use a lot of system resources to run. 3. It has apt-get and synaptic for easy package installation. 4. Ease of use for newcomers.

Yes, they've turned off the language filters over there, almost anything goes. Thankfully, this forum has a family atmosphere and improper language is not acceptable.

Yep, it takes a bit of thinking, the installer is a bit similar to Ubuntu, Slackware, FreeBSD. I've also read that 3.0 was tough to set-up. I found it interesting that Debian requires you to set-up a MTA (mail transfer agent) as part of the install process. Debian as I've discovered uses a fair bit of RAM on start-up, much more than Slack. I'm going into swap too much. I'll play with this a bit.....then Slack again. I love Slack.

Just installed Debian 3.1 sarge on my system. I did a net install, downloaded a small boot image about 180 MB, burned it onto CD and downloaded, installed most of the files from the Internet. It's pretty good, quite fast.
