Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete, and end the following processes: msyrenv.exe msuscfg.exe Open HijackThis, and check the following entrys: R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = These are random, and should be deleted: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [r3sk37W] msyrenv.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [a03qRXapi] msuscfg.exe Close all windows except HijackThis, and press the "Fix Checked" button. Reboot into safe mode by pressing F8 at startup and selecting "Safe Mode" from the menu. In safe mode, delete the following files: C:\WINDOWS

Hello Pekoe, Try this Go start>control panel>network connecctions>right click Local area connection and choose properties. In the local area connections properties window you should see Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) click on that once then click the properties button. In the bottom section of this window there is a "Obtain DNS server address automatically" with a checkbox and a "Use the following DNS server addresses" checkbox. Copy the numbers, then Clear the numbers in the "Preferred DNS server" line and the "Alternate DNS server" line and then check the box to Obtain DNS server addr

Ok, you have done what I have asked. Except, please post this in the HijackThis forum. Here is what CTHELPER is: cthelper.exe is installed with Creative Labs Soundblaster Devices. It's purpose is to aid 3rd party developers create plugins/software for the card. In this way it is a non-essential system process and can be removed from the task-bar/startup. dk

Luke7_23, I recommend that you download HijackThis from http://dknoppix.com/Downloads/HijackThis.exe. Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button. Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents into a new post in the HijackThis section of the site. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet. dk
